The property where we worship was originally developed by Valley Congregational
Church. The community center (across Easter Lane) was constructed in 1924, the
classrooms in 1948 and the sanctuary in 1949. HSoH rented space in 2002 and
purchased the property in 2004. We are grateful to Valley Congregational families
who prepared this facility to serve the Body of Christ in perpetuity.

Sheep or Goat Type Faith? ¿Fe de Oveja o Cabra?
Ezekiel 34:1-24; Psalm 95; Ephesians 1:15-23; Matthew 25:31-46
Completing our Pentecost studies of a Spirit-led life and faith
that can cause our change from mediocrity to genuine Christian
discipleship, we answer: ‘who am I?’ and ‘who is my leader?’
Our readings teach on sheep and goat type of faith.
The easiest way to tell the difference between sheep and goats
is their tails (don’t do this to each other!): a goat's tail goes up and
sheep tails hang down; goats are browsers eating most anything
while sheep are grazers of grass and weeds; and goats are
independent, while sheep have a stronger flocking instinct.
The prophet Ezekiel wrote: “Woe to you shepherds of Israel who
only take care of yourselves! Should not shepherds take care of the
flock?... You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost.
You have ruled them harshly and brutally…I am against the shepherds
and will hold them accountable for My flock. I will remove them from
tending the flock so that the shepherds can no longer feed themselves. I
will rescue My flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for
them…I Myself will search for My sheep and look after them…I will judge
between one sheep and another, and between rams and goats.” God
rejects those He specifically calls to minister to His people that
avoid their responsibility. But God will also judge the flock’s faith.
King David’s Psalm declares God’s sovereignty: “For the Lord is

La manera de conocer la diferencia entre oveja y cabras es en
ver las colas (¡no haga esto uno al otro!): la cola de cabra sube y
la cola de oveja cuelga abajo; cabras son navegadores comiendo
casi todo mientras ovejas pastoreen de césped y hierba; y cabras
son independientes, mientras oveja tiene un instinto más fuerte de
congregarse.
El profeta Ezequiel escribió: “¡Ay de ustedes, pastores de Israel,
que tan sólo se cuidan a sí mismos! ¿Acaso los pastores no deben cuidar
al rebaño?... no van por la descarriada ni buscan a la perdida. Al
contrario, tratan al rebaño con crueldad y violencia…Yo estoy en contra
de mis pastores. Les pediré cuentas de Mi rebaño; les quitaré la
responsabilidad de apacentar a Mis ovejas, y no se apacentarán más a sí
mismos. Arrebataré de sus fauces a Mis ovejas, para que no les sirvan de
alimento. Yo mismo me encargaré de buscar y de cuidar a Mi rebaño…
Yo las pastorearé con justicia… Juzgaré entre ovejas y ovejas, y entre
carneros y chivos.” Dios rechaza a los que llama específicamente
atender a Su gente que evitan su responsabilidad. Pero Dios
también juzgará la fe de la multitud.
El Salmo del Rey David declara la soberanía de Dios: “Porque el

image, we find our place under a dynamic yet caring leader.
Paul continues to provide examples of true Christianity: “I keep

give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him
better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order
that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His
glorious inheritance in His holy people, 19 and His incomparably great
power for us who believe.” In seeking to know Jesus, we become a
spiritually powerful community of faith. Are we there yet?
And finally our Gospel provides a great teaching of sheep or
goat type faith: “He will separate the people one from another as a

by how we treat each other. Do we demonstrate true Christian
love or hypocritical religiosity? Have we wasted our Pentecost or
have we arrived to Advent with renewed hearts and accompanying
actions?
