REDISCOVER
CATHOLICISM
There are 1.2 billion Catholics in the
world. There are sixty seven million
Catholics in America- that’s at least
fifteen million more people that it
takes to elect an American president.
And every single day the Catholic church feeds,
houses, and clothes more people, takes care of more
sick people, visits more prisoners, and educates more
people than any other institution on the face of the earth
could ever hope to.

OFFICE OF THE PASTOR
PASTOR’S REFLECTION
Third Sunday of Lent
February 28, 2016
Dear Friends,
None of us is perfect. All of us need the gift of God’s
unconditional love and mercy. What will it take for us,
at this time, to open our hearts to the Father of mercy?
We cannot truly be merciful of heart….unless we are open
to God’s mercy.

Forgive our sins...as we forgive other’s sins…
MEMORANDUM
My Dear Friends,
I recently came across these guidelines for the selection of
a new pastor which applies to a pastor or any other priest
for that matter, since it resonates with many of the things I
have heard you express. I thought I would bring it to your
attention.
The following is often subconsciously used as people think
of what an ideal pastor would be:

Be assured of my prayers for you and for your dear ones,
especially during this Lenten Season. May the good Lord
bless you with wisdom and peace. Please pray for me.

In Christ,

Msgr. Pablo A. Navarro
NOCTURNAL ADORATION OF THE
BLESSED SACRAMENT - COME LET US
ADORE JESUS IN THE MOST HOLY
SACRAMENT OF THE ALTAR!
Souls who love Me sacrifice and consume themselves as
victims of reparation, and they draw down God’s mercy,
and that is what saves the world. (Our Lord to Sr. Josefa
Menndez). Any area in your life needs reparation? Any
people, nation, family in need of God’s mercy? Can you
spend an hour before the Blessed Sacrament as “victim”
of His Love? Come, Friday, March 4 at 8:00 p.m.
Close with benediction at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Pray the
Rosary in community at 7:55 a.m. before Mass.
Register after Mass this weekend!
(Nuestro Senor a
Sor Josefa Menendez). Existe un area en tu vida que
necesita reparacion? Algun pueblo, nacion, o familia que
necesiten de la Misericordia de Dios? Puedes pasar una
hora ante el Santisimo como “victima” de su amor?

The perfect pastor preaches exactly 10 minutes and
condemns sin in a roundabout kind of way...but never
hurts anyone's feelings.
The perfect pastor works from 7:00 a.m. to midnight
and is also the church janitor.
The perfect pastor makes $40.00 a week, wears good
clothes, drives a good car, buys good books, donates
$30 weekly to the Church.
The perfect pastor is 29 years old and has 40 years
experience...and above all is handsome.
The perfect pastor has a burning desire to work with
teenagers and spends most of the time with Senior
Citizens.
The perfect pastor must smile all the time with a
straight face and with a sense of humor that keeps him
dedicated to the Church.
The perfect pastor makes 15 home visits a day but is
always at the office to be handy when needed.
The perfect pastor devotes most of his time to the
school children and should also make sure he visits all
his parishioners at whichever hospital they may be at..
The perfect pastor has time for Church meetings at all
times... Attends all ministry activities...never missing
a meeting at any Church organization and is always
busy evangelizing the “unchurched”.
The perfect pastor is always in the next Church over.
If your pastor does not measure up, simply send this notice
to 6 other Churches that are also tired of their pastor. Then
bundle up your pastor, and send him off to the Church on
top of the list. If everyone cooperates, in one week you
will receive 443 pastors. One of them should be perfect.
Have faith in these guidelines. One Church broke the
chain and got its old Pastor back in 3 months.
In humor, there is always an element of truth and well
worth a thought. May God bless you abundantly each day.
I thank God for you.

FAITH AND SPIRITUALITY
Lenten Resolutions For Married Couples,
Inspired By Pope Francis
by Bethany Meola
Pray together with your spouse and family.
“Praying the Our Father together, around the table,
is not something extraordinary: it’s easy. And
praying the Rosary together, as a family, is very
beautiful and a source of great strength! And also
praying for one another! The husband for his wife,
the wife for her husband, both together for their
children, the children for their grandparents…
praying for each other. This is what it means to
pray in the family and it is what makes the family
strong: prayer.” (Homily for Family Day, Rome,
Oct. 27, 2013)
Pray to the Lord to “multiply your love and give it
to you fresh and good each day.” Pray together,
“Lord, give us this day our daily love.” (Address
to Engaged Couples, Rome, Feb. 14, 2014)

Next week, we will take up the Collection for the Church
in Latin America. In Peru, the 14 villages of Chazu in
Moyobamba, are all located away from the city center,
with the most remote only accessible by boat. The faithful
in these communities do not have access to catechetical
formation, and members often feel separated from the life
of the universal Church. Through a grant from the
Collection for the Church in Latin America, the religious
congregation of the Missionaries of Jesus was able to
provide faith formation, spiritual retreats, and workshops
to nearly 250 people. Upon completion, participants were
better equipped to help others deepen their faith and
answer questions. The program also renewed their sense
of commitment to their parishes and created stronger
bonds within their own families. Through this program,
members of the Chazuta villages felt the love and support
of the universal Church. Please support programs like
these and give generously in next week’s collection. For
moreinformation, pleasevisit www.usccb.org/latinamerica.
talleres a casi 250 personas.
favor, visite www.usccb.org/latin-america.
