A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
In today’s second reading, Saint Paul prays with joy and confidence for his friends in the Christian community at Philippi.
He is encouraged that the community has partnered with him
to proclaim the Gospel. He sees Christ’s active presence and
plan of salvation at work in the community. God’s overarching
plan is unclear to us. But when we see evidence of God
working through others, doesn’t it give us reason to believe that
Christ is alive among us? Does the witness of others help our
own prayer lives? Does it inspire us to promote the Gospel?
During this second week of Advent take time to reflect on how
you see Christ’s presence in your community.

Saint Vincent’s Corner
In today’s Gospel John the Baptist urges us to “Prepare the way of the Lord,” and this is what Advent is all about.
We are called to help prepare the way of the Lord by making the real meaning of Christmas come alive in our
own hearts, in our family and to reach out to those in need.
Is there a family you know who needs assistance? Please call the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that
together we can help the suffering and poor to celebrate Christmas. For more information about the
Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, please visit www.svdprr.org.
Marriage - Why God's Design
The gaze of Jesus is that of mercy, of the mercy which is based on truth. Jesus’ teaching on marriage and family
are from creation (Mt 19:3). The life to the human being and of humanity is part of a great project: that of God
the creator. As in all aspects of life, we find our wholeness and our felicity if we can insert ourselves freely in
consciously into this great project full of wisdom and love.

Cedarbrake Retreat Center in Belton, Texas
For Catholic men (ages 17 to 40) with an openness
to a priestly vocation and at varying stages of discernment. No matter where you are in your discernment, this retreat is a great opportunity to meet other
men who are discerning the Lord's call and spend
time in prayer and discussion. Several priests and
seminarians will be present for the weekend to share
their experiences. The weekend will include silence,
prayer, meals, and reflections on how the Heart of
Jesus reveals to us our true identity as men, shows
us the depths of God's desire for us, and is the place
of authentic discernment. The registration fee is $35,
and the deadline is December 14.

Enrollment assistance for Spanish speakers.
According to Presidnent Obama "3 in 5 uninsured do
not understand the government will help pay their
health insurance premium". This impacts your neighbors for whom English may be a second language.
Individuals earning between $11,670 to $46,680 may
qualify for assistance with their premium. Enroll for
health insurance and obtain the rightful premium
assistance under the Affordable Care Act. There is
no cost for this service, it is similar to the .gov site
(same exact plans, same exact prices, same exact
premium subsidy) but with a higher service touch to
the Spanish speaking population than a government
site.
Help a family in need this Christmas.
All over the Central Texas community, the hardship of natural disaster, severe illness or
loss of employment can impair mothers’ and fathers’ ability to provide for their family.
When we have the opportunity to improve their lives, everyone benefits.
JUST BECAUSE MINISTRIES of HOPE is a non-profit organization that was established

 We have different sized families (# of children) we support.
