The monthly variation of the Industrial Production Index stands at
0.2%, after adjusting the seasonal and calendar effects
The annual rate of the Industrial Production Index stands at 0.6% in
the series adjusted for the seasonal and calendar effects and at
–1.8% in the original series
Monthly evolution of the Industrial Production
After adjusting the seasonal and calendar effects, the monthly variation of the Industrial
Production Index (IPI) between August and July stood at 0.2%. This rate was 0.1 points
higher than that registered in July.

Intermediate goods (1.6%) and Durable consumer goods (1.4%) registered the greatest
increases in their monthly variation rates.
In turn, Capital goods (–1.9%) is the only one that registered a negative variation rate.

Annual evolution of the Industrial Production
After adjusting the seasonal and calendar effects, the Industrial Production Index (IPI)
registered a variation of 0.6% in August, as compared with the same month of the previous
year. This rate was 0.3 points lower than that registered in July.
The original series of the Industrial Production Index recorded an annual variation of –1.8%.
This rate was 2.9 points lower than that of July.

After adjusting the seasonal and calendar effects, all industrial sectors registered negative
annual rates, except for Intermediate goods (5.6%) and Non-durable consumer goods
(1.5%).
Durable consumer goods (–6.1%) and Capital goods (–4.0%) recorded the greatest negative
rates.

Results by Autonomous Community. Annual variation rates of the Industrial
Production. Original series
The annual rates of the original series of the Industrial Production increased in 5
Autonomous Communities and decreased in 12 of them. The greatest increases were
registered in Castilla y León (7.9%), La Rioja (3.0%) and Principado de Asturias (2.1%).
In turn, the greatest decreases were registered in Galicia (−8.3%), Illes Balears (−6.5%) and
Canarias (−5.2%).
