PASTORS CORNER
Pastor’s Letter
On behalf of the priests of St. Anthony’s, the Pastoral Council and Finance Council, I want to
express my appreciation to the 474 households who have made a commitment to weekly/monthly
giving to the Parish offertory. The Spanish masses will make their commitment this weekend and
more folks from the English masses will also make a commitment, so the total will significantly increase. The commitment cards will continue to be accepted through the month of December. It is
our hope that every family/household in the parish will make a commitment. Please remember that
when we give generously to God and the Church the Lord established, we will receive far more than
we give in return. Many parishioners have told me that they received generous gifts from God.
They had been giving regularly to the parish offertory for one to thirty years or even longer. Basically, they all told me that they always had enough money for the things they needed when they
gave to the Church regularly. Some generous givers said simply that they never missed the money
that they donated to the Church. I pray that you will experience the same in your lives.
Faithfully, Fr.

Muchos feligreses me
Fielmente, Fr. Pat Walker

Quotation from Laudato Si’
“When we fail to acknowledge as part of reality the worth
of a poor person, a human embryo, a person with disabilities—to offer just a few examples—it becomes difficult to hear the cry of nature itself; everything is connected.” (117) “Since everything is interrelated, concern
for the protection of nature is also incompatible with the
justification of abortion.” (120)

The Story of Taizé Prayer
In 1940, when the world was at war, Brother Roger
wanted to form a community of prayer where trust and
reconciliation could be opened up among the Christian
and human family. Today the Community numbers more
than a hundred brothers, Catholics and from various Protestant backgrounds, from 25 countries.
As the Community grew they saw that they needed a
new, more accessible way of praying. Visitors spoke
many different languages, and the question was: how
can everyone be united in prayer?
The fruit of this collaboration, which ripened over the
years, was the “Taizé songs,” made up of a simple phrase
repeated again and again. Easy to learn and easy to
sing, each one expresses a basic reality that can be
quickly grasped by the intelligence and little by little sink
in and penetrate one’s whole being.

Let us remember that, as much has been given us,
