Happy Anniversary! Can you believe we are
celebrating our 75th Anniversary as a parish
family? I know that I am the new guy on the
block, but from what I have experienced and
learned, our parish family has a vibrant, colorful, and diverse
history. There is so much to be proud of. As the newcomer,
these are the GIFTS that I recognize and celebrate within our
spiritual family on the occasion of our anniversary weekend:

Sense of rootedness-many families have been here a long
time and speak fondly of their experience of church and
school. If they have gone away for a awhile, they tend to
come back because of their love for the parish.
Friday Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Each Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
in the Daily Mass Chapel.
Sense of family-people truly care for each other within our
parish. I see the delight you have in talking with each other,
socializing together, doing the Lord’s work, and being there
for each other in times of joy, suffering, and need. The way
you relate to each other makes me think of the words that the
pagans spoke about the early Christians, “See how they love
one another.”
Society, thank you for your donations of $268.20,
to help alleviate the needs of the poor.

Sense of hospitality-being a visitor and newcomer can be an
intimidating experience. I have noticed you have a special
gift for making people feel welcome and included. You truly
are remarkable in embracing others with the love of Christ.
Heart for the less fortunate-I have been inspired by the
sensitivity and outreach that you have for the poor and needy
within the neighborhood and the local community. You are
truly living out the words of Pope Francis to have a love for
the poor and to personally encounter them as beloved
children of God.
Openness to cultural diversity-our parish is made up of
people of all races and cultures. I am deeply touched how
your hearts are open to everyone and how profoundly you
recognize that diversity is a gift from God and that we are all
brothers and sisters in Christ, as members of God’s one
family.
Love for your Catholic faith-It obvious that you bleed
Catholicism. You love your Catholic faith-it’s rituals,
devotions, traditions, and sacraments. It is in your DNA and
it provides you with a sense of identity, meaning, and
mission.
Since biblical speaking, “7” is the number of wholeness,
perfection, and completion, I will stop here. Be assured, I
could come up with many other redeeming qualities about
our spiritual family. Even though I have only been a part of
your spiritual family for five months, it already feels like
family. It is truly a joy and blessing to be your Pastor. I am
very grateful to God!!!
As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, may we express
our gratitude to God for the blessing of being a member of
Christ the King Church! Happy Thanksgiving!
