Thoughts from our Pastor

This week we celebrate several important events. The first is an annual
occurrence, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed
Virgin Mary on December 8. This is a
holy day with the obligation of assisting
and Mass, plus it’s a day of great spiritual joy. Please remember to celebrate
well on this day. Mary under the title of the Immaculate Conception is our national Patroness. Please offer
many prayers for our nation.
The second big event is the beginning of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy which begins on
December 8 the same day as the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. When God made Mary free
from all stain of original sin at her conception, the
dawn of God’s mercy began to shine on the world. She
was made immaculate so that one day she would become the Mother of Mercy himself.
For the Jubilee around the world special holy doors of
Cathedrals and specially designated churches have been
sealed in the last months. Archbishop Lucas had one
of the doors of our own St. Cecilia Cathedral sealed
last month. It will be unsealed by the Archbishop himself in a special vespers ceremony on December 13 at
7:30 pm. All people are invited to this event in praise
of God’s mercy, and I hope we have good representation from St. Peter for the event.
Also, this week we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of
Guadalupe, the Patroness of the Americas, on December 12. We have a few events here at St. Peter surrounding this celebration especially the night before on
11 December. Please check elsewhere in this bulletin
for details.
There are always great spiritual opportunities in the
Church if we take the time to celebrate them as we
should.
Archbishop's Annual Appeal
Thank you so much to those who donated to the Archbishop's Annual Appeal. Your gifts benefit the many ministries
and outreach programs of the Archdiocese. To date parishioners have donated $21,267.54 toward our goal of
$22,493.02 or 94.6%. Thank you for your generosity.

Pensamientos de Nuestro Párroco

Esta semana celebramos varios eventos importantes. El
primero es la conmemoración anual de la Solemnidad
de la Inmaculada Concepción de la Beatísima Virgen María el 8 de diciembre. Se trata de un día de
precepto. Es decir, es obligatorio asistir a la santa Misa,
además de ser una buena oportunidad para recibir la
bendición de gozo. Por favor, tomen mucho en cuenta
la celebración de este día. María, denominada Inmaculada Concepción es nuestra patrona nacional. Oren por
nuestro país mediante la intercesión de la Inmaculada
Virgen María.
El segundo gran acontecimiento es la apertura del Año
Jubilar Extraordinario de la Misericordia, lo cual
comienza el 8 de diciembre el mismo día en que se
celebra la Solemnidad de la Virgen. Al crear Dios a la
Virgen inmaculada, sin la mancha de culpa original,
Dios dio luz a su misericordia en el mundo. La virgen
fue creada sin mancha para un día convertirse en la Madre de la propia Misericordia.
Por el Año Jubilar en los últimos meses en todo el
mundo catedrales e iglesias especiales han cerrado ciertas puertas y las han designado santas. El mes pasado, el
Arzobispo Lucas ha cerrado uno de los portones de
nuestra Catedral Santa Cecilia. Se abrirá de nuevo por
el mismo Arzobispo durante una ceremonia de vísperas
el 13 de diciembre a las 7:30 de la noche. Todos quedan
invitados a este evento en gratitud por la misericordia
de Dios, y espero que la Parroquia San Pedro quede
bien representada para este suceso.
Asimismo, esta semana se celebra la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Patrona de toda América el
12 de diciembre. Algunos eventos tomaran lugar aquí
en San Pedro para conmemorar la festividad, especialmente para la vigilia el 11 de diciembre. Por favor leer
en otras partes de este boletín para mayor información.
Siempre existen maravillosas oportunidades espirituales
en la Iglesia si tomamos el tiempo para celebrarlos como se debía.

A novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe

Sacramental Preparation and Devotions
Baptism and Godparent Requirements
Parents of children who are six years of age or
younger and in need of Baptism must be registered, active parishioners of St. Peter for at least
three months. Godparents take on serious obligations when they sponsor a person for Baptism
and they should be virtuous and faithful Catholics. Godparents must be 16 years old or more,
fully initiated, practicing Catholics; if married,
godparents must be married in the Catholic
Church. Baptisms may be scheduled only after
the parents and godparents have completed the
requisite classes and the parish office receives a
letter from the parish at which the godparents
belong stating that the godparents are in good
standing with the Catholic Church and are eligible to be sponsors. Parents and sponsors must
attend a Baptismal class before the Baptism.
Classes in English usually are offered on the
fourth Sundays of March, June, September and
December from 3:00-5:00 pm. Pre-registration is
required. Baptisms in English are usually offered
on the second Sunday of the month at 2:30 pm
and on the fourth Saturday of the month at 9:00
am. For more information, please call the parish

Catechism Sacramental Preparation
for Children
The catechism school year goes from September
through May of each year. Registrations began in
May for the next school year. Classes are held on
Saturdays from 10:30 am to 12 noon, or
Wednesdays from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. Children
should be registered and attend classes for at
least two years before receiving sacraments. For
more information please contact the Catechism

Home School Sacramental Preparation
Families who are preparing their children at
home to receive a sacrament this year should
register at the catechism office by September 1,
2015. If your child will be receiving a sacrament
this school year or the following year, please
register during Catechism and Homeschool registration times posted in the bulletin. A Baptism
certificate must be submitted. Please see the
parish website for requirements and important
dates for First Reconciliation, First Communion
or Confirmation: www.stpeterchurch.net/infosacraments.html.
Adult Catechesis, RCIA
Those over the age of seven who desire to become Catholic and/or receive the sacraments of
Baptism, Confirmation or Communion should
contact Fr. Broheimer for classes in English, or
Sister Clara for classes in Spanish. Classes on
Catholic doctrine in English are offered weekly
from September through May on Tuesdays from
7:15 pm to 8:45 pm. Classes in Spanish are offered on Mondays at 7:15 pm or at 10:30 am. All
are welcome to attend.
Marriage
Parishioners who are registered for a minimum
of six months are eligible to begin marriage
preparation at St. Peter. In addition, the Archdiocese requires a minimum of six months of
preparation prior to your wedding date. To

Requisitos para Bautismo y Padrinos
El Cursillo Pre-Bautismal para Padres y Padrinos es requerido para Bautismos. Todo feligrés de San Pedro debe asistir en las platicas para Bautismos en San Pedro. (Si hay
problema con el horario de las pláticas, favor
comuníquese con Mary en la oficina parroquial
al 402-341-4560, ext. 100.) Los padrinos de
otras parroquias deben asistir en platicas en su
parroquia propia, o presentar una carta de permiso de su párroco antes de asistir en las pláticas en San Pedro. El cursillo es valido por tres
años. Padres de niños que serán Bautizados en
la Iglesia de San Pedro deberán estar feligreses
registrados y activos de la Parroquia de San
Pedro por lo menos de tres meses. Padrinos
deberán de ser iniciados completamente, practicando el Catolicismo, asistir en la Misa todo
domingo y día de guardar, y si están casados,
deberán ser casados por la Iglesia Católica, y
tienen 16 años o más. Los padrinos toman sobre sí unas obligaciones muy serias cuando
apadrinan una persona para el bautismo y deben ser virtuosos y fieles católicos. Les queremos animar a seleccionar muy cuidadosamente
los padrinos. Podrán fijar y pedir el día para los
bautismos solamente después de que los papás
y los padrinos hayan completado tres clases de
requisito y después de que la oficina de la parroquia haya recibido de los padrinos una carta
de la parroquia a donde pertenecen los padrinos, en la cual constatan que ellos están en el
buen favor de la Iglesia Católica y que son
aprobados para ser padrinos. Para padrinos
casados, por favor llevar copia de la acta de
Matrimonio por la Iglesia Católica. El cursillo
Bautismal se ofrecen cada dos meses en tres
domingos. Bautismos en español son ofrecidos
usualmente el primer, segundo y tercer sábado
del mes a las 9:00 a.m. y el cuarto domingo del
