FAITH FORMATION
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Dear Parents and Students:
Sunday Mass attendance needs room for
improvement. Arriving late is not an option.
Missing Mass is not an option.
God deserves our love and respect. Remember
the commandment to “Keep Holy the
Sabbath.”
You should not think of Mass as a
requirement, but rather a choice that you make
with your free will. Put God first. Show Him
how much you love, honor and adore Him.
May your heart desire to follow Christ more
closely and receive Him in the Eucharist.
HOLY HUMOR
The wife of an old preacher in Kansas was afraid to fly, but
finally summoned the courage to take a flight to Florida to
visit her daughter. At the airport, she handed her husband a
letter. On the envelope she had written, “Open only in case
of a crash.” when he returned home, the old preacher
couldn’t resist the temptation and opened the letter. The
letter said: “If there is a crash, look under our bed. You’ll
find a box. Open the box.” he looked under the bed, opened
the box, and found three eggs and a large stack of $100
bills. He was mystified. When his wife returned intact from
Florida, the old preacher confessed that curiosity had gotten
the best of him and he had opened both the envelope and
the box.”But, honey, I don’t understand,” he said. “Why the
three eggs and the $100 bills?” “Well, honey,” she replied.
“When you first started preaching, every time you laid an
egg and preached a poor sermon, I’d put an egg in the box.”
“All these years I’ve preached and I got only three eggs!”
he said. “That’s not too bad. But I still don’t understand the
stack of $100 bills.” “When you get a dozen, you gotta
sell,” she said.
GIVING TREE STARTS NEXT WEEK!
Each year we prepare tags for the giving tree to help
those less fortunate. Those who would not have if we
don’t help. We ask that you please take a tag (if you
can) buy a NEW gift and return the gift with the tag,
place the gift under the giving tree. You do not have to
gift wrap, a bag with the tag is fine. Thank you for all
you do to help those who have not. We want to thank
Mrs. Vincenza Parisi and Mrs. Nancy Minieri, for
making the beautiful tags each year. Lots of time
and work goes into them. THANK YOU!

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL — 2014
When we GIVE We SHARE the LIGHT OF FAITH.
This year’s Annual Catholic Appeal Theme challenges
us to be the light of the world by sharing our faith,
commitment and generosity. This year, our theme is based
on the recent encyclical by Pope Francis, Lumen Fidel: The
Light of Faith. As stewards of God’s good gifts, we are
called to bring the light of faith by means of our time,
talent, and treasure as a blessing to the world around us.
The 2014 ACA theme is: WHEN WE GIVE WE SHARE
THE LIGHT OF FAITH. Jesus said to his disciples:
“You are the light of the world.” The Annual Catholic
Appeal supports the Diocese and its parishes in three ways:
1. Provides an enhanced source of funding in support of
people through ministries, programs, and services
throughout our community.
2. Offers parishioners a chance to directly provide for the
work of the Church.
3. Grants each parish an annual opportunity to raise funds
for local initiatives and projects.
Please support this appeal for the good of our parish and
Diocese. You will be rewarded by God, He sees all.

November Prayer
God of light, winter is taking its turn to reign over
the seasons; flowers are drying up, greens are
turning into browns, darkness is gradually
overpowering the light. I also feel a winter creeping
into my heart. God of life, help my spirit to welcome
my inner winter without dying. Let me embrace this
time of rest like the trees in my backyard, nurturing
my inner resources, resting in the quiet dark, storing
up energy for the breaking forth of spring blossoms.
Through this encroaching darkness, help me to keep
my inner gaze fixed on your unquenchable light.
Amen
