Dear Parents,
We have had a wonderful opening to school this year. Everyday, your children come to school ready to learn and eager
to tell us what they are learning.
On our morning Bobcat Daily News (BDN) show, students learn about important school messages. Administration,
teachers, staff, and students share and display messages that include:
•
School rules reminders
•
Presentation of student created Thinking Maps
•
Math graphs
•
STAR students
•
Classroom initiatives
Students are also learning about becoming leaders. They have learned to be “Proactive’.
To be Proactive means to take responsibility in their choices and behaviors. We are
teaching the students that they are leaders of their own life and of how they react to other
people or situations.
We can use your help!
Please talk to your child about being a leader. He/she can demonstrate leadership by being responsible of him/herself, caring for his/her personal belongings, and reacting appropriately to other’s comments.
We can also use your help with their studies! Please encourage your child to read at least 15 minutes a night and
on weekends too. Students also need to practice their addition, subtraction and multiplication facts daily. If you
would like math facts cards, please let your teacher know and we are happy to provide them to you.

Estimados padres,
Hemos tenido una apertura maravillosa para este año escolar. Su hijo viene a la escuela listo para aprender y para
decirnos lo que ha aprendido en clase.
Cada mañana en nuestras noticias escolares, (BDN) los niños aprenden mensajes
importantes . Tanto la Administración, maestros, personal y estudiantes comparten
mensajes que incluyen:

Los estudiantes también aprenden a como ser lideres. Están aprendiendo a ser “Pro-activos” (el poder de cambiar,
tomar iniciativa, tomar decisiones positivas)
El ser Proactivo significa tomar responsabilidad de sus decisiones y comportamiento. Estamos enseñando a los
estudiantes hacer lideres de su propia vida y como reaccionar en situaciones con otras personas.
¡Podemos usar su ayuda!
por favor hable con su hijo de como ser un líder cuidándose, cuidando sus cosas y como o no
reaccionar con los comentarios de otras personas.
¡También podemos usar su ayuda con sus estudios.! Por favor anime a su hijo que lea por lo menos 15 minutos
todas las noches así como los fines de semana. Los estudiantes también necesitan practicar las sumas, restas,
multiplicaciones. Si usted desea tarjetas con estas operaciones matemáticas para practicar en casa, con mucho gusto
se las podemos enviar.

Speech and Language Therapist
My name is Marlen Solana, and I have been practicing Social Work since 1982. Prior to working in the
School District of Lee County. I was employed in
various settings: hospitals, mental health facilities
and the Miami-Dade Public School System. I have
had the pleasure of working with the School District
of Lee County since 2005. I have held many job titles: Behavior Specialist, Behavior Support Teacher,
Exceptional Student Education Teacher, Guidance
Counselor, and Mental Health Specialist. I am currently the Coordinator for the Early Childhood Learning Services Program.
Kristin Mason has been a licensed Speech and Language Therapist for over 20 years and she most enjoys working with children. She and her husband of
27 years have been foster parents, and have a tremendous love for children, in particular, those with
special needs. They have enjoyed having 17 children
in their home over the years to help these children
through difficult times
in their lives.
As Coordinator, my primary role is to support teachers, staff, families and children to reach their highest
potential. This support can be demonstrated in a variety of ways, such as facilitating Professional Learning
Communities, providing relevant professional development trainings and parent workshops, walking our
students to the clinic, holding parent conferences and
anything related to Human Resources. It is whatever it takes to facilitate success
for all. As coordinator, I am assigned several duties which include but are not limited to overseeing the BSES Head Start Program, the Colonial Elementary
Head Start Program and the Early
Childhood Learning Services Family Engagement Department. I am fortunate to have
the opportunity to serve.
“Miss Kris” has developed a teaching style
that combines practice and structure
with fun and games
to improve a child’s
speech and language
skills and she tries to
give them the skills
they need to communicate with their family and
friends. One of the most important things in life
is to be able to communicate ideas and have
others understand.
Miss Kris enjoys working with parents and children
together to help them improve the child's communication skills by providing home work.
If your child struggles with pronouncing sounds, for
example says “dool” for “school” or does not know
how to put sentences together or does not know vocabulary words as a child of his or her age should,
please let your child’s teacher know your concerns.
Miss Kris would like to work together with you and
your child’s teacher to help your young boy or girl if
he or she needs help.

Infancia
Mi nombre es Marlen Solana, y he practicado el
Servicio Social desde 1982. antes de trabajar para el
Distrito Escolar del Condado de Lee yo trabaje
diversos ámbitos: hospitales, centros de salud mental
en el Sistema Publico de las Escuelas del Condado
Miami-Dade. He tenido el placer de trabajar con el
Distrito Escolar del Condado de Lee desde el 2005. He
tenido muchos títulos de trabajo, Especialista en
Comportamiento, Especialista en Comportamiento de
Apoyo para el Maestro, Maestra de Educación
Excepcional, Consejera, y Especialista en Salud Mental.
Actualmente soy la coordinadora del Programa de
Servicio de Aprendizaje de Primera Infancia.
Como coordinadora mi función principal es apoyar a
los maestros, personal, familias y niños a alcanzar su
mayor potencial. Este apoyo se puede demostrar en
diferentes maneras, como facilitar Comunidades
Profesionales de Aprendizaje, entrenamientos, talleres
para padres, llevar estudiantes a la
clínica, tener conferencias con los
padres o cualquier cosa relacionado
con Recursos Humanos. Lo que
sea necesario para facilitar el
servicio a todos. Como
coordinadora estoy asignadas a
diferentes funciones que incluyen
pero no se limitan a la supervisión del Programa en
BSES y en Colonial Elementary así como el programa
de Servicios Familiares de Aprendizaje. Tengo la
oportunidad de servir.

Kristian Mason
Terapeuta en Logopedia y Lenguaje
Logopedia– se dedica al diagnóstico, prevención
y tratamiento de las alteraciones del habla y del
lenguaje (hablado o escrito, tanto en comprensión
como en expresión).
Kristin Mason ha sido una Terapeuta del habla y
lenguaje con Licencia por mas de 20 años y le
encanta trabajar con niños. Ella y su esposo por mas
de 27 años han sido padres de crianza, y tienen un
amor tremendo por los niños, en particular por
aquellos que tienen
necesidades
especiales. Ellos han
tenido alrededor de
17 niños en su casa,
ayudar a estos niños
durante tiempos
difíciles en su vida ha
sido un placer.
“Señora Kris” ha
desarrollado un estilo
de enseñanza que combina la practica y la estructura
de diversión y juegos para mejorar las habilidades del
habla y lenguaje de los niños y así mejorar sus
habilidades para poder comunicarse con su familia y
amigos. Una de las cosas mas importantes en la
vida es ser capaz de comunicar nuestros ideas
y que otros las entiendan.
A la señora Kris le gusta trabajar juntos con los
padres y los niños para ayudarlos a mejorar las
habilidades de comunicación, proporcionado tarea.
Si a su niño le cuesta trabajo pronunciar los sonidos
o no puede hablar con oraciones completas, o no
tiene suficientes palabras en su vocabulario de
acuerdo a la edad que tiene, déjele saber al maestro
de su hijo su preocupación . La señora Kris trabajara
con usted, su hijo y el maestro de su hijo para darle
la ayuda necesaria si el que la necesita.
Si su hijo ya recibió una evaluación y tiene un plan
individual de educación, usted no tiene que hacer
nada, solamente asistir a las juntas y llenar papeleo.
La señora Kris vera a su hijo durante el año escolar.

hijo.

Con un paquete de cartas use solo los unos, dos, tres,
cuatros, cinco y seises así como los ases. En un papel
cada jugador escribe un numero del 1-12 . Entonces
cada jugador escoge dos cartas y suma los números.
el jugador puede marcar esa suma en el papel o tachar
los dos números en las tarjetas.
