THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
Beginning on Saturday, November 22nd and continuing through
Sunday, December 7th our parish will be conducting a food
drive. Please put all donations in the boxes in the vestibule of
the church. Any donation will be gratefully accepted, but
PLEASE DO NOT donate anything in glass containers or any
out - dated canned or packaged goods, or any open items or
perishable items. These items will be distr ibuted to those in
need in our parish and to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
Most needed items are: rice, whole grain cereal, pasta, pasta
sauce, macaroni & cheese, peanut butter, jelly, beans, canned
stew, soup, canned fruits or vegetables.

Extended Day Aide.
Do you live in the neighborhood, and have a few hours
in the morning and afternoon to spare?
Extended Day is a program that is run before and after
school for those parents that have jobs that require them
to be at work earlier or later than school hours. We are
looking for someone to help with Extended Day Morning Care which runs from 6:45am-7:45am as well as
afternoon Extended Day that runs from 2:30pm6:00pm.For more details, please inquire within St. Bruno
School.

Thoughts from our Pastor…. Dear Parishioners and Friends of the parish of St. Bruno!
A warm welcome and thank you for your coming and supporting this great parish, which is the spiritual home for
many of us.
On Thursday we will celebrate Thanksgiving, during which the word "Gratitude" should appear on our lips. I want you
to take this word into consideration in terms of the building of your everyday life. Someone looking at their daily life, may
say that it does not make them joyous. What is the detail of this thinking sometimes? Well, lack of gratitude, often called,
would seem reasonable haste. Still translating their haste, effect many activities that fill our everyday life. But, when someone or something we rapidly decelerates and asks us a question, for example. "Are you happy in your life?", Then there is
pessimism, which translated, in our dissatisfaction with life. Obviously this is not the voice of all, but unfortunately many
people. An ungrateful man is the poor and lonely man. Each of us, and it is a fundamental idea that we should consider,
was created for a specific task. Have you ever thought about it, for which specific tasks were we created and that God
gave you life? Salvation for us and our daily lives will be moments in which we see these situations for which we should be
grateful. Discovering the different gifts present in our everyday life, it can bring us a lot of reasons to be happy, even with
the smallest achievements. Gratitude is the discovery of which is our everyday life, and so often we do not appreciate,
because I did not discover it in a proper way. Gratitude can engender in us a lot of positive attitudes. We can better appreciate different people and situations. We should really explore the positive aspect of life, which is the reflection. Thinking
about what we are able to realize what we are able to achieve, makes us more confident, open-minded and ultimately also
more involved. If it 'will slow "your life, we will discover that being with others who accompany us, is our treasure and a
tool that grabs our creativity. Rushing takes us to a time of reflection, the ability to perceive important for us elements of
our everyday life. It's hard, we were happy with anything, since we do not have such an important moment, which is the
perception of what can bring joy and satisfaction. Sometimes, as I recall, my mother demanded of us while eating: "Tell
me how it tastes!" Then tried to explain to her, "If we do not speak, it always means that the food is good. If we do not like

me that there is no point to go over everything on the agenda, "a silent thank you." St. Ignatius spent each day doing a
little stretch of time to practice in gratitude: "Thank God, our Lord, for favors received." The basis for this assumption is
that the more you learn to look with loving attention to the events of the day. Then there will always be a basis for joy and
gratitude. Benedictine monk David Steindl-Rast writes: "Every day of every twinkle of an eye donated countless things we
are. We just have to be careful and gratitude that we almost flood. But do we believe? That is the question." Those who
accept the world of love and attention, have many reasons to give thanks: a drop of dew, which reflects the sun, a warm
cup of coffee in her shivering hands; conversation, which came into effect; the successful completion of the transaction; a
few minutes of silence on a bench in park or in the church or on the way home. Gratitude is building deep relationships.
This appears extremely clear that in the healing of the ten lepers Jesus: only one of the healed goes back to Jesus to give
thanks and praise to God. So, on Thanksgiving I invite you, Dear Parishioners and Guests to accept with gratitude in your
own interior blessings of God, the gifts of creation and his own life story - and to think that these gifts are an expression of
the fact that God wants me to give myself, to as far as possible.

Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele parafii świętego Brunona!
Witam bardzo serdecznie i dziękuję za Wasze przyjście i wsparcie tej wspaniałej parafii, która jest duchowym
domem dla wielu z nas.
W najbliższy czwartek przeżywać będziemy Święto Dziękczynienia, podczas którego winno pojawić się na naszych
ustach słowo „Wdzięczność”. I na jej temat, w ujęciu budowania codziennego życia, chciałbym z wami podjąć
rozważanie. Ktoś, patrząc na swoje codzienne życie, może powiedzieć że mu ono nie sprawia radości. W czym tkwi
szczegół takiego niekiedy myślenia? Otóż, brak wdzięczności, wywołany często, wydawałoby się uzasadnionym
pośpiechem. Wciąż tłumaczymy swój pośpiech, wieloma zajęciami, które wypełniają naszą codzienność. Ale, gdy ktoś lub
coś nas gwałtownie wyhamuje i zada nam pytanie, np. „z czego jesteś w swoim życiu zadowolony?”, wówczas pojawia się
pesymizm, który tłumaczymy, naszym niezadowoleniem z życia. Oczywiście nie jest to głos wszystkich, ale niestety bardzo wielu osób. Niewdzięczny człowiek jest człowiekiem biednym i samotnym. Każdy z nas i to jest zasadnicza myśl,
którą powinniśmy rozważyć, został stworzony dla jakiegoś konkretnego zadania. Czy zastanawialiście się nad tym, do
jakiego zadania konkretnie zostaliście stworzeni i po co Bóg ofiarował wam życie? Ogromnym ratunkiem dla nas i naszej
codzienności, będą momenty, w których dostrzeżemy te sytuacje, za które powinniśmy być wdzięczni. Odkrywanie różnych darów, obecnych w naszej codzienności, może przynieść nam wiele powodów do radości, nawet z tych
najmniejszych osiągnięć. Wdzięczność to odkrycie wartości, którą ma nasza codzienność, a której tak często nie doceniamy, bo nie odkrywamy jej we właściwy sposób. Wdzięczność może zrodzić w nas wiele pozytywnych postaw. Możemy
bardziej docenić różne osoby i sytuacje. Powinniśmy rzeczywiście odkrywać pozytywny aspekt życia, jakim jest refleksja.
Myślenie o tym, co udaje nam się realizować, co udaje nam się osiągnąć, sprawia, że jesteśmy bardziej ufni, otwarci i
ostatecznie też bardziej zaangażowani. Jeśli nieco „spowolnimy” swoje życie, odkryjemy, że bycie z innymi, którzy nam
towarzyszą, jest naszym skarbem i narzędziem, który porywa naszą kreatywność. Pośpiech odbiera nam czas refleksji,
możliwość dostrzeżenia ważnych dla nas elementów, z naszej codzienności. Trudno, abyśmy byli z czegokolwiek zadowoleni, skoro nie mamy tak ważnego momentu, którym jest dostrzeżenie tego, co może sprawić radość i zadowolenie.
Czasami, jak sobie przypominam, mama domagała się od nas przy jedzeniu: „Powiedz, jak to smakuje!” Próbowaliśmy
wtedy wyjaśnić jej: „Jeżeli nic nie mówimy, to zawsze znaczy, że jedzenie jest dobre. Jeżeli nam nie smakuje, to już
powiemy wyraźnie!" Cóż, mama rozumiała, co znaczyło to na wpół przepraszające wyjaśnienie, ale dopiero później stało
się dla mnie jasne, że nie ma sensu, nad wszystkim przechodzić do porządku dziennego „milczącym podziękowaniem".
Święty Ignacy każdemu radzi codziennie przeznaczać pewien niewielki odcinek czasu na ćwiczenie się we wdzięczności:
„Podziękować Bogu, naszemu Panu, za otrzymane dobrodziejstwa". Podstawą tego założenia jest to, aby coraz więcej się
uczyć, aby patrzeć z kochającą uwagą na wydarzenia dnia. Wtedy zawsze znajdzie się podstawa do radości i
wdzięczności. Mnich benedyktyński David Steindl-Rast pisze: “Codziennie z każdym okamgnieniem darowane są nam
niezliczone rzeczy. Musimy tylko uważać na to, a wdzięczność prawie że nas zaleje. Ale czy na to uważamy? Oto jest
pytanie.” Kto przyjmuje świat z miłością i uwagą, ten ma wiele powodów do dziękowania: kroplę rosy, w której odbija się

Queridos feligreses y amigos de la parroquia de San Bruno!
Una cálida bienvenida y gracias por venir y apoyar esta gran parroquia, que es el hogar espiritual para muchos de
nosotros.
El jueves vamos a celebrar Acción de Gracias, durante el cual la palabra "gratitud" debería aparecer en nuestros labios. Quiero que tome esta palabra en consideración en términos de la construcción de su vida cotidiana. Alguien que
busca a su vida diaria, puede decir que no los hace feliz. ¿Cuál es el detalle de esta forma de pensar a veces? Pues bien,
la falta de gratitud, a menudo llamada, pareciera una razonable prisa. Aún así la traducción de su prisa, afecta muchas de
las actividades que llenan nuestra vida cotidiana. Pero, cuando alguien o algo nos desaceleran rápidamente y nos hace

special time for us all to
reflect on our good fortunes,
our families, our friends,
and all the bounties and grace
our Lord showers upon us
every day. It is also a time to
consider and remember
those who are less fortunate.
This disposition of gratitude
and giving was beautifully expressed by the Pre K 3 and
Pre K 4 children of St. Bruno
School at the celebration of
Mass on Sunday, November
16th. Led by their teachers,
Mrs. Marisa Sanchez, Mrs.
Margarita Tellez, and Mrs.
Kathleen Katsoudas, these
children hosted a Family
Mass of Giving. Dressed as
Pilgrims and Native American Indians, the children led
the opening procession and
deposited
their
donated
canned goods and other
articles of food in boxes that will be distributed to needy families. Although we strive to teach the true meaning of Thanksgiving through stories and discussions, nothing impresses upon the hearts of God’s children—both young and old—as the
actual act of giving, volunteering, engaging in charitable works, and finding ways to spread the spirit of mercy and kindness to others.

parish family…
We pray for those who are homebound and for
those
who have asked for our continued prayers.
Each Sunday, all the above are prayed for in our
parish intercessions book.
If someone in your family is hospitalized and you
would like Fr. Tony to come and visit them, please
contact the rectory as the hospitals do not let us
know because of the privacy laws.
BAPTISM
Please call the rectory to make arrangements. All parents and
godparents are required to attend a Baptismal Preparation
session. English Baptisms are on the first Sunday after the
8:30AM or 11:30AM Mass. Polish Baptisms are on the
second Sunday after the 10:00AM Mass. Spanish Baptisms
are on the third Sunday after the 1:00 PM Mass.
MARRIAGE Call the rectory to make arrangements at least 6
months in advance. Your date will be confirmed at the first
meeting with priest or deacon. Pre-Cana conferences are
required.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK AND COMMUNION
CALLS
Please call the rectory to have a priest come for the sacrament
of the sick. If you have been hospitalized or are homebound
and wish a Minister of Care to bring you Communion, please
call the rectory.
CONFESSIONS: Satur day fr om 4:00 to 4:15 PM,
Weekdays after the 7:00 AM Mass and Sundays before Mass
(time permitting).

KOMUNIA SW I SAKRAMENT CHORYCH.
Prosimy dzwonie na plebanie aby prosic ksiedza o sakrament
chorych. Jesli ktos jest w szpitalu i potrzebuje ministra
eucharystii z komunia św prosimy równiez dzwoniæ na
plebanie.
SPOWIEDŻ W kazda sobote o godz 4.00 PM
godz.4.15PM.
W ciagu tygodnia po Mszy sw o godz 7.00 AM i przed każdą
mszą niedzielną, w miarę możliwości.
BAUTISMO. Por favor llamar a la r ector ia par a or ganizar bautismo. Los Padres y Padrinos necesitan estar registrados para classes bautismales. Bautismo son cada tercer domingo a las 1:00 PM
LAS BODAS. Por favor llamar a la r ector ia 6 meses antes
de la boda. Durante la primera reunion con el Padre o Diacono, sera confirmada la fecha de la boda. Necesitan una precana para poder casarse.
SACRAMENTO DE ENFERMOS Y COMUNION. Lamar a la rectoria para desirle al sacerdote que si puede venir.
Si usted esta hospilizado o en la casa y necesita que vaya un
ministro de comunion,por favor llamar a la rectoria.
CONFESIONES. Cada sabado de 4.00 PM a 4.15 PM.
Cada dia despues de misa de 7.OO AM. También habra
confesiones antes de todas las misas de los domingos si
el tiempo lo permite.
