Keynote Speaker: Rick Irving LICSW
Rick Irving, LICSW is a clinical social worker with almost 40 years experience
working with children, families and schools. He graduated from Brown University in
1974, and Boston University School of Social Work in 1976. He first worked as the Clinical
Director of a residential treatment center for emotionally disturbed adolescents. From 1978
to 2014, he worked as a clinical social worker in the Andover Public Schools, working with
students at all grade levels. Since 1982, he has also maintained a private practice, now in
Winchester, MA, working with children with behavioral, emotional and learning disabilities.
He also consults to parents and schools about their children’s issues. In addition to Rick’s
direct work with children and families, he presents many workshops and has been a keynote
speaker at conferences in Massachusetts and overseas.

Anxious situations and anxiety happens in life and can trouble all of
us especially our children at any age. We, as adults, need to know
how to talk and guide them through these situations. They need to
know we support them. They can learn many coping and managing
skills so that these experiences will not spin them off into a “tizzy”!

Having trouble answering those tough health questions from your
teen? Health Educators with the Cambridge Health Alliance Family
Planning Department will discuss how to answer challenging
questions from your teen around many health topics, including
puberty, dating, and sexuality. Educators will cover how adolescent
brain development may impact these questions and your teens
decision making skills around healthy behaviors. Age appropriate
information for your child regarding puberty and sexuality will also
be reviewed. Participants will practice answering challenging
questions and working through tough scenarios.

Parenting can often be a challenging and difficult process. All
parents face the dilemma of setting limits with their children and

more successful by reducing stress and increasing positive behaviors
in children.

challenging to find ways to pay the bills and put food on the table.
In this open discussion session, no idea is too small to bring up. We
will discuss creative ways to reduce monthly bills and stretch the
dollar.
