In the Gospel today, Jesus reminds us how serious it is to follow the Gospel. We don’t play games with
God. Jesus reminds us that sin, any sin, is extremely serious and capable of sending us to Gehenna (Hell). Yet the
opposite is true too! God wants us to be with him for all eternity. He will help us, give us strength, and encourage
us. But, we have to decide to live the Gospel, and make a real commitment to deepen our relationship with Jesus,
our Savior and really loving (not just tolerating) our neighbor!
There is something hopeful in the 1st reading. Moses says “would that all the people of the Lord were
prophets.” I’m sure God wants us to be his prophets. He will give us whatever we need to be his prophets. To be a
prophet is to be like Christ in our daily life. We receive holy Communion so that we can become what we receive. If
we welcome Christ into our hearts, we can radiate His love and forgiveness to the world. May we all be such
prophets!
SACRED HEART FINANCIAL NEWS…
PICK A PROJECT FOR A TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION
The response to this program has been incredible! Thank you to those of you who have graciously come
forward to donate to the project of your choice. We are adding two new projects to the list; see details below!
Biedermann Hall Roof
If you take a good look at the large, sloped, front section of Biedermann Hall roof you may notice the
deteriorated condition of the (remaining) roof shingles! With the threat of an El Niño winter, we need to attend to it.
The work is scheduled for November and we already have two donors who have been very generous.
Winning Bid: 12,000.00
Donations to date: 7,000.00
Repair and Re-plating of Chalices and Ciboria
In the church office we have three Chalices, one Ciboria, and two Patens, acquired by Msgr. Biedermann in the
early days of Sacred Heart Church. Fr. John would like to have these repaired, re-plated and put back into service
in time for our Sacred Heart 50th Anniversary (June 2016). These are beautiful pieces, two featuring Christ and
the 12 Apostles, one red enameled piece, and one featuring a Latin Eucharistic inscription. You are welcome to
come into the office to see them before deciding how much you would like to donate for this worthy cause!
Estimates range from gold re-plating only to complete overhauls including dent & pit removal.
Estimates:
Chalices (3)
490.00 - 1,400.00
Ciboria with lid
Donation for repair and re-plating already promised!
Patens

Youth Ministry News
“As Catholics we are called to continue going to
church after Confirmation and continue to grow in
our faith”. I usually get some sour looks from teens
when I say this phrase, especially during an
orientation when we are discussing their two year
confirmation process. Most of the time what
happens is teens go through our program and
then we only see them when they are attending
Christmas/Easter services because their family says
they have to go on those days. Sometimes we don’t
see them until they are grown and want to get
married or have a child for baptism. But what teens
and parents don’t realize is that if teens do not
continue to go to church after confirmation then they
most likely won’t come as adults and aren’t part of
the Church family which actually hurts our church
community. If they don’t come as adults they don’t
support the parish by offering their time, talents or
by putting money in the collection basket every
week. If they don’t support the church then the
church doesn’t have money to take care of its
necessities to keep it running and looking beautiful.
It’s a slippery slope that happens faster than we
realize. So now is the moment, now is the time to
institute the importance of attending mass in your
teens hearts and minds. Good modeling and
preparation now leads to a beautiful future for all
involved. Be the model that Christ calls you to be for
your teens so that the church can continue to grow
and that your teens can grow with Christ.
UPCOMING:

& ends at 8:45 p.m.)

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Every Friday
Friday 9 a.m. — Saturday 8:30 a.m.
Never give up on prayer, no matter what the
difficulties. Who doesn’t have distractions in prayer?
But they are not displeasing to Christ, unless they are
willful. In fact, they are occasions of love. Because we
love Him, we bring ourselves back from our distractions
and prove our love.
(Rev. Fr. Raymond Dubois SSS)
We need committed adorers on Saturday at 4AM.
Please call Lupe 676-1159.
This week’s vocal Holy Hour is in Spanish @ 7p.m.
EUCHARISTIC APOSTLES OF DIVINE MERCY
The Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy will have
religious articles (rosaries, holy medals, etc.) available
for a donation next Sunday, October 4. Please come
by and check gifts for baptisms, birthdays and other
occasions.
THANK YOU TO OUR ADVERTISERS
Special thanks to the individuals and local businesses
who advertise in our bulletin each week. It is because of
their support that we are able to provide the bulletin to
our parishioners. They, in turn, need your support! So
when you’re out in the community, make a point to
patronize these businesses. Tell them you saw their ad
in our bulletin! It helps them and it helps Sacred Heart.
Not to mention you can shop with the knowledge that
you are supporting businesses that support your chosen
way of life.
To advertise in our bulletin please contact: J.S.
Paluch, Inc. 800-231-0805. Please reference bulletin

MISA DEL MEDIODIA, 12 P.M.
Noticias del Ministerio Hispano...
Reflexiones del Padre Carlos
Queridos hermanos:
Purifica tus
