TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — The woman who fears the LORD
is to be praised (Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31).
Psalm — Blessed are those who fear the Lord
(Psalm 128).
Second Reading — Brothers and sisters, you are
children of the light (1 Thessalonians 5:1-6).
Gospel — Since you were faithful in small matters, I
will give you great responsibilities (Matthew 25:1430 [14-15,19-21]).
PARISH MEMBERSHIP AND BENEFITS
To be considered an active, participating
member of the parish, and thus eligible for tuition
assistance and sacramental sponsor eligibility, Our
Lady of the Assumption takes into account a family
or individuals ministry involvement and Mass attendance.
Since OLA weekly Mass attendance envelopes are the primary way we determine if parishioners are regularly attending Mass, we ask that if
you can’t make a contribution on a given Sunday,
that you still place your envelope in the collection
basket so we can record your attendance.
Attendance at Mass is the most important thing as
Catholics and most meaningful way we model and
live our Catholic faith.
ARE YOU MOVING - Please remember to
notify the Parish Office as soon as possible!

Rediscover Your Marriage – Retrouvaille simply
means 'rediscovery'. The program offers the chance
to rediscover yourself, your spouse, and a loving relationship in your marriage. Many couples headed
for divorce have successfully saved their marriages
by attending. Retrouvaille is a not spiritual retreat,
not a sensitivity group, not a seminar, not a social
gathering.
December 5-6, 2014 * March 20-21, 2015
This is designed for women who seek a deeper
relationship with God and desire spiritual growth and
personal formation. The program focuses on a personal
journey done with others so that a sense of community is
developed.
Discovering God Anew is a program offered
three weekends over the course of the year, consisting of
Friday evening (7:00-9:00 pm) and all day Saturday (9:00
am – 4:30 pm with liturgy and lunch included).
It is hoped that the women who participate will commit to
attending all three sessions since one will build on the
other. However, we also recognize that there will be exceptions due to unplanned circumstances.
For confidential information or to apply to attend the
program beginning with a weekend on September
12th call 800-470-2230 or email:
[email protected] or visit the web site at
www.retrouvaille.org.
PRAYER FOR THE UNBORN Heavenly Father, You created us in

protect against the wickedness of the devil, those
little ones to whom You have given the gift of life. I
ask that you help Another Way Pregnancy Center
reach those considering abortion, and by Your
Grace, changing their hearts and protect the unborn.

Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
GET READY
The Letters of Paul to the Thessalonians are
among his earliest writings, and are driven by his
belief and the belief of the entire early Christian
community that the return of Christ was imminent.
Therefore, to devote time or attention to anything
else was foolish.
As time progressed, this fervor receded a bit.
Today we may wonder, when we hear these readings
about the coming end-times, if we should take them
to heart. What should we do when we hear that the
day of the Lord will come upon us “like a thief at
night”? (1 Thessalonians 5:2) Does this mean we are
to stop our long-range goalsetting, get rid of our
yearly calendars and planners, or stop putting money
in the college education fund? Of course not. What
it does mean is that we need to change our lives, living like children of the light and illuminating the
world around us with the light of the gospel. Then,
on that day, when the details of our daily living become unimportant, we will be ready to find our
peace and security in Christ Jesus.
¿debemos, o no, dejar nuestra planificación a largo
