ste es un mes plagado de novedades ilusionantes en Air Europa.
Fieles a nuestra vocación de ofrecer
a nuestros clientes los destinos más
atractivos y la mayor comodidad
durante el viaje, en abril inauguramos dos nuevas rutas, ampliamos frecuencias en una tercera y estrenamos el avión
más moderno del mundo
Vamos por partes. A partir del día 12, Air
Europa volará diariamente entre Madrid
y Miami con el primer avión Boeing 787
Dreamliner que opera una compañía española. Se trata de una aeronave de última generación, moderna, silenciosa y plagada de
innovaciones técnicas capaces de proporcionar un nivel de confort desconocido hasta ahora. Más humedad ambiental, más espacio para las piernas y unas ventanillas que
se oscurecen o se iluminan con solo apoyar
la yema del dedo. Es, además, el avión más
eﬁciente del mercado, con un consumo inferior en un 20 por ciento al de las generaciones precedentes. Toda una avanzadilla
de lo que será la ﬂota de largo radio de Air
Europa cuando terminen de llegar las 22
unidades del 787 adquiridas a Boeing.
Por otra parte, desde el 30 de marzo hemos
comenzado a operar la ruta Madrid-Tel Aviv
tres veces por semana: los lunes, miércoles
y viernes. Y desde el 29 de ese mismo mes,
un acuerdo de Air Europa con la compañía
puertorriqueña Seaborne permite a nuestros pasajeros volar diariamente a San Juan
de Puerto Rico a su llegada al aeropuerto de
Las Américas, en Santo Domingo. Esta nueva conexión viene a completar los dos vuelos semanales directos entre Madrid y San
Juan inaugurados en junio del año pasado. /

Here are the details. From 12 April, Air Europa will ﬂy daily between Madrid and Miami with the ﬁrst Boeing 787 Dreamliner
operated by a Spanish company. It is a latest-generation, modern and silent aircraft
full of technical innovations that provide a
level of comfort unknown until now. More
environmental humidity, more legroom
and windows that darken or lightens using
just the ﬁngertips. It is also the most eﬃcient aircraft on the market, with consumption 20% lower than that of preceding generations. It is the torchbearer for what will
be the Air Europa long-distance ﬂeet when
it has acquired the 22 Boeing 787s.
Also, from 30 March the Madrid-Tel Aviv
route will be operated three times per week:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And from
29 March, an agreement between Air Europa and the Puerto Rican company Seaborne will enable passengers to travel daily
to San Juan de Puerto Rico on arrival to Las
Américas Airport, in Santo Domingo.
This new connection completes the two direct weekly ﬂights between Madrid and San
Juan that were inaugurated in June last year.

eiscientos millones de
personas de 140 países
diferentes la verán por
televisión. Y uno de cada
cuatro adultos británicos,
según las casas de
apuestas, se jugará unas libras
por su caballo favorito. Es el
Grand National, la carrera
ecuestre más importante del
mundo, la más famosa, la que
más dinero mueve, la que este
11 de abril vuelve a congregar
en el hipódromo de Aintree,
en Liverpool, a la élite de los
purasangres. Y lo hace igual
que hace casi dos siglos, en
1839, cuando William Lynn,
el propietario del Waterloo
Hotel, decidió levantar unas
cuadras y un circuito y celebrar
allí una competición ecuestre.
Hoy, la carrera se disputa
sobre un durísimo recorrido
de 7.141 metros jalonado
con 30 obstáculos. Y a las
cuatro y cuarto de la tarde,
como mandan los cánones.
El favorito, por ahora, es
Shutterfrontdoor, un caballo de
ocho años que llevará el número
13 y que se cotiza 10 a 1. Por si

y batería ha invitado a amigos a participar en su último
disco, Postcards From Paradise –el 18º de su carrera en
solitario–. Así, Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton o Amy Keys
colaboran en alguno de los 11 temas que ha compuesto
para este álbum. El lanzamiento coincide con la entrada
de Ringo en el Rock and Roll Hall of Fame de Cleveland,
Ohio, donde el 18 de abril recibe, además, el Premio

A Pablo Rivero (Madrid, 1980) le gusta
llevar poca cosa cuando viaja, porque
nunca sabe qué se encontrará por el
camino. «Trato de llevar lo menos posible:
unas zapatillas, unos vaqueros… Todo muy
práctico. Pero viajo con maletas grandes
por si compro cosas fuera: algo de ropa o
un recuerdo para decorar mi casa; quizá
un libro voluminoso, regalos…». A este
actor, que ha crecido interpretando a Toni
Alcántara en la serie Cuéntame cómo
pasó –¡que ya va por su decimosexta
temporada!–, le encanta viajar. A Tailandia,
Berlín o, especialmente, a Nueva York: «¡Es
una ciudad tan peliculera!». Pese al afán
por ir ligero de equipaje, hay algo que no
falla en su maleta: el ordenador, para poder
descargar las fotos que va haciendo.

nominaciones al ‘cabezón’ lo corroboran–, es un tipo sencillo que no

his CV. Felices 140 premieres on
April 10, a story about a Euromillions prize. In it he is directed by

Tras una gira mundial que la ha llevado a nueve grandes
ciudades –entre ellas, Madrid, Nueva York y Londres–,
la exposición Jean Paul Gaultier inicia la segunda etapa
de su tour en París. Entre el 1 de abril y el 3 de agosto, el
Grand Palais acoge esta gran retrospectiva que explora el
descarado universo creativo de Gaultier en sus múltiples
facetas: como creador de prêt-à-porter y de alta costura,
diseñador de vestuario cinematográﬁco para Almodóvar o
Luc Besson, modisto de grandes estrellas –el mítico corpiño de conos creado para Madonna es una de las piezas
más atractivas de la muestra– e inspirador de artistas
como Andy Warhol, David LaChapelle, Richard Avedon o
Mario Testino. Para su etapa parisina, la exposición estrena nuevas instalaciones y muestra al público, por primera
vez, numerosos objetos y documentos. Además, la peluquera Odile Gilbert ha creado peinados exclusivos para

Even though he’s right in the middle of promoting one of the biggest releases of the year,
Robert Downey Jr. wants to keep his schedule
clear that day so he can spend it with his family. The interviews, photo sessions and meetings will have to wait. Because that day, he’ll be
celebrating half a century of life: a miracle for
someone who was introduced to marihuana at
the age of eight by his own father and ended up
abusing all kinds of substances.
Now things are quite diﬀerent: for two consecutive years he has topped Forbes magazine’s
list of highest-paid actors, with estimated annual earnings of 75 million dollars every new
installment of Iron Man. «I’m surprised to be
there. It’s amazing how this happened, and
how it’s become the model for superhero movies», says Downey Jr. of the ﬁlms he’s done as
Iron Man. The most recent one, The Avengers:
Age of Ultron, hits Spanish theaters April 30.
His wild years are way behind him. Back then,
no one would have given a dime for Robert
Downey Jr. He had been working since the age
of ﬁve, had received an Oscar nomination for
Chaplin and the best directors in the world
were ﬁghting over him. But he and his addictions always ended up ruining everything.

success —if not all— to Susan. We make a great team. All that luck I’ve
had —that’s her» the actor now admits. The couple also has two children: Exton, age three, and Avri, who is ﬁve months old.
In 2008 he got his big break: an audition for the leading role in Iron
Man. He was very much aware of what was at stake: «I prepared for the
screen test so feverishly that I literally made it impossible for anybody
to do a better job. I had never worked on something that way before. (…)
At a certain point during the screen test, I was so overwhelmed with
anxiety about the opportunity that I almost passed out». He got the
part, and in just ﬁve years he has gone from earning $500,000 for the
ﬁrst Iron Man movie to $50 million for the third.
That same year, Downey Jr. starred in Tropic Thunder, a razor-sharp
parody of war movies, for which he earned the unthinkable for this
genre: his second Oscar nomination. He didn’t get the award, but it did
make many people ask the big question: will he ever take home one of
those golden statuettes? He’s got no doubt about it, and he answers the
question with boldness, humor and a total lack of modesty: «Look, even
if I don’t get one directly, eventually they’re just going to have to give me

En el imaginario colectivo, Brasil es color, diversión, sensualidad. Playas, selvas
y samba. Diversidad y alegría de vivir. Río
de Janeiro y São Paulo. Fútbol y favelas.
En medio de tanta exuberancia, el lema
que ﬁgura en la bandera del país, ‘orden
y progreso’, no parece una declaración de
intenciones muy realista. Sin embargo,
esa aspiración siempre ha formado parte
del espíritu brasileño y está plasmada en
su capital, una ciudad de líneas rectas y
espacios abiertos levantada tierra adentro, lejos del mar y del bullicio carioca,
una ciudad construida de acuerdo con los
principios urbanísticos de Le Corbusier y
con la funcionalidad como criterio básico. En deﬁnitiva, una utopía de orden, linealidad y formas rígidas hecha realidad
en el menos probable de los escenarios.
La decisión de construir una nueva capital, que ya se había planteado durante la
época colonial portuguesa, fue ﬁnalmente impulsada por el presidente Juscelino
Kubitschek en 1956, con la intención de

Las fotografías que ilustran este reportaje
son radicalmentes diferentes entre sí, pero
comparten algunas cosas: son soberbias en
cuanto a calidad, nos muestran un segundo
irrepetible de este mundo fascinante en el que
vivimos y, además, forman parte de la edición
de 2015 de Sony World Photography Awards,
el mayor concurso fotográﬁco del mundo.
Este año se han presentado 173.000 instantáneas de 171 países. El jurado dará a conocer
a los ganadores en una gala en Londres el 23
de abril y, entre el día 24 y el 10 de mayo, la
Somerset House de la capital británica expondrá los trabajos de los ganadores y ﬁnalistas.

some aspects in common in that they share
the same superb quality, they depict an unrepeatable moment of the fascinating world

que lo permitan–, acaba de incorporar un importante beneﬁcio público: la Directiva Europea de Asistencia Sanitaria Transfronteriza –referida a las prestaciones incluidas en la Cartera
Común de Servicios del Sistema Nacional de Salud–, que favorece el acceso a una asistencia transfronteriza de alta calidad,
garantiza la movilidad de los pacientes y la cooperación entre
estados en materia sanitaria. Los pacientes podrán acudir a un
estado de la UE distinto al suyo para recibir atención médica y
luego solicitar el reembolso de los gastos en su país.
En el caso del turismo de salud, la variable de la temporalidad no
es tan importante. En muchos casos, las necesidades médicas
no tienen por qué ajustarse, por ejemplo, a temporadas como la
veraniega. En todo caso, el buen clima de costas como las mediterráneas y las interesantes ofertas turísticas de nuestras ciudades consolidan a España como un destino muy a tener en cuenta
para una intervención médica y para el tiempo de recuperación.

out by the School of Industrial Organization
(EOI) in collaboration with the State Tourism Oﬃce bears out all these factors. As a

the USA. – are increasingly travelling to
Spain for health care, while taking in some

¿Qué novedades destacan en su operación?
Se realiza desde hace tiempo sin ingreso hospitalario, con
anestesia en gotas, gracias a la técnica de facoemulsiﬁcación
con ultrasonidos. Los equipos nos permiten una elección de
lente intraocular más exacta, además de la importancia del
láser de femtosegundo. Este último adelanto tecnológico se
integra a un potente ordenador y a un tomógrafo de coherencia óptica de alta resolución (OCT). La operación es aún
más segura con él, un ‘piloto automático’ que actúa, indoloro, en unos tres minutos. Es muy importante para implantar
lentes intraoculares multifocales.
¿Es posible no necesitar gafas después de la operación?
Las lentes implantadas pueden corregir todo tipo de defectos
de graduación. Las monofocales corrigen solo la graduación
para la visión lejana, y las multifocales corrigen la de lejos y
la de cerca –la mayoría de actividades las podrá realizar sin
utilizar gafas–. Esta ‘elección a la carta’ hace que el grado de
satisfacción del paciente sea muy alto.

What is a cataract?
The loss of transparency of the lens prevents light from penetrating the interior of the eye. This phenomenon usually appears after the age of 65, although it can occur earlier, with
symptoms such as sensitivity to glare; cloudy, foggy or fuzzy
or ﬁlmy vision, poor night vision or diﬃculty seeing in low
light etc. The changes usually occur in both eyes although one
may be worse than the other. In the most advanced stages of
cataract the lens becomes too hard which increases the risk of
complications and so it is recommended that when the condition begins to aﬀect some daily activities it is best to operate,
or in the case of correcting refractive defects- myopia, hypermetropy, astigmatism, presbyopia…
What is new about your operation?
For some time now this operation has been performed without the need for a hospital stay, and the anesthetic is applied
in drops, thanks to the technique of phacoemulsiﬁcation
with ultrasound. The equipment enables us to select a more
accurate intraocular lens, and the femtosecond laser is also
extremely important. This latest technological advance is integrated in a powerful computer with a high resolution optical coherence tomography (OCT). The operation has been
made even safer using this method, with an automatic pilot
which acts, painlessly, in just three minutes. This is very important when implanting multifocal intraocular lenses.
Will it be possible to dispense with glasses completely after
the operation?
Implanted lenses can correct all types of sight defects. Monofocals only correct vision at a distance and multifocals correct
sight for both distance and close vision– the majority of activities can be carried out without glasses- This “à la carte” selection results in a high degree of patient satisfaction.

Entrevistamos al Profesor Manuel García-Caballero, catedrático de cirugía de la Universidad de Málaga
e iniciador en España de este tipo de cirugía en pacientes con peso normal.
En pocas líneas, el doctor García Caballero nos avanza muchas cosas nuevas: que la diabetes se opera, que se pueden
operar todos los tipos de diabetes y que, además, se puede operar a pacientes con peso normal. Son todas noticias
nuevas para la mayoría de la población, incluyendo muchos
médicos, que cuando se les dice que la diabetes se opera suelen contestar que no hemos entendido bien la noticia, que la
diabetes solo tiene tratamiento con comprimidos e insulina.
¿Por qué dice todos los tipos de diabetes? ¿Qué diferencia
hay entre la diabetes Tipo 2 y la diabetes Tipo 1?
Los dos tipos se tratan con los mismos medicamentos y producen las mismas complicaciones a largo plazo en corazón,
ojos, riñones, nervios, piernas… La Tipo 1 es una enfermedad
en que las defensas del paciente no reconocen a las células
que producen la insulina en el páncreas y las destruyen. Por
eso aparece a edades más tempranas y destruye el páncreas
antes. Y por eso los pacientes tienen insulina desde el principio. La Tipo 2, que es la que tienen el 95% de los diabéticos,
está relacionada con una diﬁcultad para que la glucosa entre
en las células ayudada por la insulina. Por eso se queda en la
sangre y decimos que el azúcar está alta. Esto el páncreas lo
nota y no para de producir insulina. Este trabajo del páncreas
lo agota progresivamente, de ahí que los pacientes empiecen
con pastillas y terminen con insulina, como los Tipo 1 pero
en edad más avanzada. Por eso, si esta cirugía tiene un efecto
positivo sobre una, también lo debe tener sobre la otra.
¿Por qué cuando la diabetes se trata con cirugía no aparecen después las complicaciones que tiene el diabético que
está tratado con pastillas e insulina?
El efecto de la cirugía sobre la diabetes fue un hallazgo casual.
Haciendo cirugía para curar otras enfermedades (úlcera de
estómago u obesidad) nos dimos cuenta de que cuando se
hacía en diabéticos, la diabetes desaparecía. Con el tiempo
hemos visto, además, que las consecuencias de la diabetes
(cardiopatías, retinopatías, neuropatías, nefropatías y otras
vasculopatías como la impotencia sexual y la periférica en las
piernas, aparte del colesterol, los triglicéridos, la tensión arterial alta, el ácido úrico) también lo hacían. Y este efecto no
lo tienen ni los antidiabéticos orales ni la insulina. Con esta
técnica el paciente vuelve a poder comer de todo y tiene una
salud parecida a la de las personas no diabéticas.
Si todo esto es así, sorprende que esta cirugía no sea más
conocida y se practique más. ¿Por qué?
Hoy día es una realidad a nivel mundial. En los congresos
de la Sociedad Mundial de Cirugía de Diabetes y Obesidad

(IFSO) es el tema estrella. Y se están dando cada vez más pasos para aﬁanzar la cirugía con bypass gástrico a medida que
nosotros la realizamos (BAGUA) o de bypass metabólico en
general como tratamiento de la diabetes.
¿Qué es el BAGUA a medida? ¿Es una cirugía traumática?
Consiste en dividir el estómago en dos partes: por una pasa
la comida y por otra no, aunque la parte por la que no pasa
la comida sigue funcionando igual y produciendo los mismos
jugos y sustancias. La parte del estómago por la que pasa la
comida se une al intestino. Es a medida porque dependiendo del peso, la edad y la longitud total del intestino de cada
paciente, se realiza el tamaño del estómago y la longitud del
intestino que se puentea (bypass signiﬁca puenteo, como
aparece en la ﬁgura). Se realiza a través de cuatro pequeñas
incisiones y el paciente está 48 horas en el hospital. El índice
de complicaciones está en el uno por ciento.
¿Cuánto tiempo lleva haciendo esta cirugía de diabetes y
cuáles son los resultados?
Con intención expresa de tratar diabetes en pacientes no obesos empezamos en 2008, aunque desde 2002 venimos operando a pacientes obesos con diabetes, aunque eso es cirugía
de obesidad. Se habla de cirugía de diabetes cuando se opera
a pacientes sin obesidad mórbida con la sola intención de resolver su diabetes.Y los pacientes, tengan la diabetes que tengan, mejoran y sus complicaciones remiten.

utilizar anestesia. Con un inyector se gradúa la cantidad de
adhesivo que entra en la vena, que, con una leve presión, se
cierra y transforma en un tejido ﬁbroso que el organismo reabsorberá. Se retira el catéter y se coloca una pequeña tirita».
El procedimiento dura unos 20 minutos y el paciente se reintegra a sus actividades sin vendajes ni medias elásticas,
con una eﬁcacia demostrada por diversos trabajos cientíﬁcos, que ratiﬁcan que VenaSeal es superior a otros tratamientos no quirúrgicos, como el láser y la radiofrecuencia
endovascular, que liberan calor e inﬁltran anestesia, con
riesgo de quemaduras o lesiones de nervios.
El adhesivo no produce inﬂamación ni pigmentación de la
piel, como puede ocurrir con las espumas esclerosantes.
Como comenta el Dr. Vogelfang, «la utilización del adhesivo
en el tratamiento de las varices es un importante avance en
la resolución de esta afección, por los excelentes resultados
alcanzados y por el confort y seguridad para el paciente».
En deﬁnitiva, el Centro de Estudios Vasculares ofrece el único sistema que utiliza un adhesivo médico, en una intervención sin anestesia, que no necesita vendaje ni medias elásticas y una recuperación inmediata.

placed over the area”. The whole procedure takes about 20
minutes and the patient can return to her normal activities
without bandages or elastic stockings. The eﬀectiveness of
the treatment is supported by numerous scientiﬁc works
which conﬁrm VenaSeal’s advantages over other non-surgical treatments, such as laser and endovascular radiofrequency which release heat and inﬁltrate anesthetic, and as a
result entail the risk of burns or damaging nerves.
The adhesive does not produce inﬂammation or pigmentation of the skin, as can occur with sclerotising foams.
As Dr Vogelfang: “the use of adhesive in the treatment of
varicose veins is an important advance in resolving this
aﬄiction due to the excellent results obtained and the patient’s comfort and safety”.

necesitará retocarse hasta al menos 6 meses después.
EL TRATAMIENTO. El tratamiento se realiza en consulta, a base
de microinyecciones con microcánulas de punta redondeada
(para evitar hematomas) de ácido hialurónico de alta y media
densidad. El Dr. utiliza los de mayor calidad: Restylane y Emervel. Comienza en el tercio superior, es decir, en frente y contorno de ojos. Para trabajar esta zona Moisés Amselem acude a
su “técnica horaria” que consiste en la realización ﬁgurada del
dibujo de un reloj sobre el ojo para decidir, como si de franjas
horarias se tratase, los puntos en que conviene aplicar la inyección.El tratamiento se realiza de forma personalizada, dependiendo de las necesidades de cada paciente. Con esta técnica se

logran todos los objetivos que pueden perseguirse en el tercio
superior: se difuminan las arrugas del contorno, de la frente
(sobre las cejas) y del entrecejo. Se elevan los párpados caídos
y desaparecen las ojeras. Terminada la primera fase del “lifting sin cirugía”, se logra una mirada más joven y descansada. En el tercio medio, el Dr. Amselem practica otra técnica
de creación propia -hoy día aceptada internacionalmente
en el mundo de la medicina estética-, la que él bautizó como
“palo de hockey”. Consiste en la aplicación de ácido hialurónico en pequeños pinchazos desde la zona de los pómulos
hasta la sien, siguiendo la región zigomática. Gracias a ella se
consigue proyectar pómulos, sujetar toda la zona del tercio
medio de la cara y, como consecuencia de esta sujeción, y
sin necesidad de rellenos, atenuar visiblemente las arrugas
de los surcos nasogenianos. Terminado el trabajo de esta
fase del lifting, la reposición de volúmenes crea un efecto de
rejuvenecimiento importante: desaparece enormemente el
cansancio y se gana en luminosidad, expresividad y buena
cara. Por último, en el tercio inferior y mediante la inﬁltración con microcánulas de ácido hialurónico, siguiendo una
“técnica vectorial”, se logra una sujeción latero facial que
devuelve al óvalo su forma y reaﬁrma las zonas caídas. El
resultado ﬁnal es el de un lifting absolutamente natural. El
rostro recupera su forma, su aspecto descansado, incluso su
expresividad, solo con sustancias naturales y reabsorbibles
como el ácido hialurónico.
DIAGNÓSTICO PERSONALIZADO. El rejuvenecimiento
facial completo se realiza entre unos 15 y 20 minutos.
En realidad, en lo que el Dr. tardará más tiempo será en
hacer el estudio previo personalizado del rostro del paciente, y en conversar con él acerca de sus necesidades
concretas, así como de la realización de un diagnóstico
que explique qué problemas presenta su rostro en cuanto
a signos de envejecimiento. Los resultados duran entre
6 meses y 1 año. Tras este tiempo puede repetirse el tratamiento sin ningún tipo de contraindicación. Todo en
última instancia dependerá de las necesidades de cada
paciente y la cantidad de material utilizado.

Air Europa continúa su expansión en
el área del Caribe al conectar su ruta
diaria entre España y República Dominicana con la vecina Puerto Rico.
La compañía aérea del Grupo Globalia y la puertorriqueña Seaborne han
alcanzado un acuerdo de código compartido para cubrir la ruta Santo Domingo-San Juan de Puerto Rico, lo que
permitirá el establecimiento de vuelos
diarios entre las dos islas y, en consecuencia, la conexión de ambas capitales con el aeropuerto Adolfo Suárez
Madrid-Barajas.
De esta manera, los pasajeros de Air
Europa podrán volar diariamente a
Puerto Rico, haciendo una breve escala en el aeropuerto de Las Américas, en Santo Domingo. Una ruta que
viene a sumarse a los dos vuelos semanales directos que Air Europa opera entre España y Puerto Rico desde
junio de 2014.

La administración para la seguridad en el transporte de los EE.UU. (TSA) implantó un programa de seguridad llamado ‘Secure Flight’ de obligado cumplimiento, de acuerdo al artículo
49 U.S.C., apartado 114 de la Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act de 2004,
y al artículo 49 C.F.R, partes 1540 y 1560, el cual solicita a todas las compañías aéreas que
operen en los EE.UU., que faciliten al gobierno estadounidense la siguiente información de
sus pasajeros: nombre completo, fecha de nacimiento y genero, así como la información del
pasaporte. Dicha reglamentación se extiende también a los pasajeros de los vuelos que sobrevuelen espacio aéreo de los EE.UU. En caso de no facilitar la información requerida se

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) implemented a security programme

tripulante de cabina en Air Europa. «Me hablaron muy bien
de la compañía y, como me gusta mucho viajar, me animé
y aquí estoy». Una vida «algo más sencilla» que la de una
modelo, dice, pero a la que pone una pega: «Los cambios
horarios, que son lo más duro». Pero a Maite le encanta su
trabajo y asegura que si un día se pierde habría que buscarla
«en Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia), Nueva York o Cancún».
Y, como es un culo inquieto, ahora está con un plan que le
ilusiona mucho: «Una película low cost, homenaje al cine de
serie B, que empezaré a rodar en otoño y en la que seré la
novia del protagonista». Otra vuelta de tuerca a su carrera.

A lot can be done in 10 years. It’s enough time to travel around
South Africa, Hong Kong, Italy and Germany as a model. To take
her ﬁrst steps in television and theater. To work as a hostess
at events. And, without sacriﬁcing her other occupations,
to become a ﬂight attendant at Air Europa. «I’d heard great
things about the company and I love to travel, so I decided to
go for it… and here I am!». Her life as an airline stewardess is
«quite a bit easier» than her life as a model; she’s only got one
complaint: «The time changes: they’re really tough». But Maite
loves her job and says that if she has a day off, you’ll be able
to ﬁnd her «in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia), New York or
Cancun». And being a restless soul, Medina is currently working
on a project that she’s really excited about: «A low-budget ﬁlm,
a tribute to B movies, which I start shooting this fall. I play the
main character’s girlfriend». Yet another twist in her career.
