Una semana después que Jesús les había dicho claramente a Sus discípulos que Él iba a sufrir, a ser muerto, y resucitado a la vida. “Jesús
tomó consigo a Pedro, a Santiago y a Juan, y subió al monte a orar.
Mientras oraba, la apariencia de su rostro se hizo otra, y su ropa se
hizo blanca y resplandeciente….” Aparecieron Moisés y Elías y hablaban con Jesús acerca de Su muerte que pronto tendría lugar. Pedro,
no sabiendo lo que decía y estando muy asustado, se ofreció para hacer tres chozas para ellos. Pedro estaba expresando su deseo de quedarse en ese lugar. Cuando una nube los envolvió y una voz dijo,
“Este es mi Hijo, mi Escogido; escúchenlo.” La nube se levantó, Moisés y Elías desaparecieron y Jesús estaba solo con Sus discípulos,
quienes aún estaban muy atemorizados. Jesús les advirtió que no dijeran nada a nadie de lo que habían visto, hasta después de Su resurrección.
Podemos afirmar que la Transfiguración es el fruto de la relación con
Dios, de la oración, de los espacios y momentos que le dedicamos a
Él. Es el fruto de la eucaristía, de ese hacerse uno con en comunión.
Es el fruto de la Reconciliación, después de escuchar Yo te absuelvo
en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo, sin duda esta
uno transfigurado. Es el fruto del servicio, de la entrega desinteresada. Es el fruto del dialogo, del perdón, del respeto entre esposos y
entre la familia. Es el fruto del descubrirlo presente en los pobres, en
los necesitados, en los que sufren.
Esa intimidad con el Padre se manifiesta con ese gran resplandor, con
ese sentimiento de que ahí hay algo grande, hay algo maravilloso, de
que ahí está Dios. El sentir la presencia de Dios, lleva a Pedro expresar el deseo de quedarse ahí, con Dios. Con Dios siempre se está bien.
Y Dios mismo se manifiesta presentando a su Hijo Jesús. Este es
“Este es mi Hijo, mi Escogido; escúchenlo.”
Mis hermanas y mis hermanos escuchemos a Jesús. Para ser transfigurados, tenemos que escuchar a Jesús, quien nos habla a través de su
palabra proclamada, leída, meditada. Para ser transfigurados tenemos
que estar con Jesús, en la eucaristía, en el servicio, en los pobres, en
la Iglesia, en la familia. Para ser transfigurados tenemos que dejarnos
iluminar por Jesús y expresar nuestro deseo de estar con Él, como
Pedro, también nosotros en cada uno de estos momentos de Dios y
con Dios, sería bueno que expresemos es bueno quedarnos aquí, es
decir quedarnos con El.
Mis hermanas y mis hermanos dejemos transfigurar por el Señor, escuchemos a su Hijo y así sigamos caminando hacia la Resurrección
de Jesús.
En nuestro camino de conversión, el pasado domingo tuvimos la oportunidad de
acompañar a Jesús en la experiencia del
desierto.
Hoy -segundo Domingo de CuaresmaJesús nos invita a vivir la experiencia del
monte Tabor. Para descubrir en Él toda la
luz, toda la grandeza y toda la fuerza de
Dios.
Frente a nuestros miedos, Cristo transfigurado nos ofrece una señal cargada de esperanza: si seguimos su camino, nuestras
vidas y nuestro mundo tienen futuro. Aunque antes tengamos que pasar por la cruz.

One week after Jesus had clearly told His disciples that He would suffer,
be killed and resurrect to life, "Jesus took Peter, James and John, and went
up the mountain to pray. As he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was
altered, and his clothes became dazzling white”. Moses and Elijah appeared and talked with Jesus about his death that would soon take place.
Peter, not knowing what he said and being very scared, offered to make
three tents for them. Pedro was expressing his desire to stay there. When a
cloud enveloped them, and a voice said, "This is my Son, my Chosen.
Listen to him.” The cloud lifted, Moses and Elijah disappeared and Jesus
was alone with His disciples, who were still very frightened. Jesus warned
them not to tell anyone what they had seen, until after His resurrection.
We can say that the transfiguration is the fruit of a relationship with God,
the fruit of prayer, the fruit of the different moments we dedicate to Him.
It is the fruit of the Eucharist that makes us one in communion with Jesus.
It is the fruit of the Reconciliation, after listening “I absolve you in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”. It is the fruit of
service, charity and loving one another. It is the fruit of dialogue, forgiveness, and respect between husband and wife and among the family. It
is the result of discovering the presence of Jesus in the poor, the needy,
those who suffer.
That intimacy with the Father is manifested in the great brightness, with
the feeling and awareness that there is something important, something
wonderful that tells you that God is there. Feeling the presence of God,
makes Peter express the desire to stay there with Him. To stay with God is
always good. And God manifests himself presenting his Son Jesus. "This
is my beloved Son, my Chosen. Listen to him.”

My brothers and sisters let us listen to Jesus. Let us be transfigured by
him. We must listen to Jesus who speaks to us through his word proclaimed, read and meditated. Let us be transfigured by Jesus present in the
Eucharist, in our service, in the poor, in the Church, in the family. Let us
be transfigured being enlightened by Jesus and, as Peter, let us express our
desire to stay with Him.
My brothers and sisters let us be transformed by the Lord, let us listen to
his Son and thus let us keep walking towards the Resurrection of Jesus.
