I approached it as a season of selfpunishment. Not fun. However, as I have matured in my understanding, it has become more of a season of healing. A healing of moving away of the ills of self-centeredness to focusing more on the realities of God in my life. Lent is a time of conversion, of change, not solely of putting off bad habits for 40 days, only to pick them up again for Easter.
