ADMINISTRATION
DID YOU KNOW…
For years, I always looked at the
season of Lent as it approached like
an on-coming train of discomfort. I
approached it as a season of selfpunishment. Not fun. However, as
I have matured in my understanding,
it has become more of a season of
healing. A healing of moving away
of the ills of self-centeredness to
focusing more on the realities of God in my life. Lent
is a time of conversion, of change, not solely of putting
off bad habits for 40 days, only to pick them up again
for Easter.
Your weekly bulletin is provided at no cost to the church
by the generosity of businesses who advertise on the
back of the bulletin?
Bulletin advertising provides an inexpensive and
effective opportunity for you to promote your products or
services within your parish community. It’s true…people
like to do business with people they know and trust.
If you would like to advertise in the bulletin and support
the church, please call Tom Ott at (503) 650-6347.
Conversion, The Letters of C. S. Lewis to Arthur
Greeves (29 October 1930), para. 5, p. 395:
I have started going to morning Chapel at 8, wh. means
going to bed earlier: and indeed I live such vigorous
days that I am usually glad to go. My moral history of
late has been deplorable. More and more clearly one
sees how much of one’s philosophy & religion is mere
talk: the boldest hope is that concealed somewhere
within it there is some seed however small of the real
thing.
Support the businesses that help make this
bulletin free to the church.

LENT TO EASTER
Lenten Mission With Fr. Richard Berg,
CSC
Our Mission leader, Fr. Richard Berg, has a
Ph.D. in psychology from the University of
Portland, and currently serves in a pastoral
role at Mary’s Woods at Marylhurst. Many
of us have experienced him through:
• His academic roles at the University of Portland,
including when he was a professor and Dean of the
College of Arts and Sciences.
• His ministries in the poorest areas of downtown
Portland, including as pastor of the Downtown
Chapel and as a founder and director of the
MacDonald Center.
• Seminars and retreats he has led in our area,
including at St. Pius X.
Parish Mission Sessions will be in the Community
Center on three days:
• Themes for the three days will be God’s Call to
Care for One Another; God’s Call to Friendship;
and God’s Call to Holiness.
• Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, February 23, 24,
and 25.
• Sessions will be in the mornings at 9:00 am, and
then will repeat in the evenings at 7:00 pm.

less than the normal amount unless they are already
at a minimum for good health. Eating between

coffee, milk and fruit juices are allowed.
Easter Vigil -- April 4, 8:30 pm (Bilingual). Our most

A permanent deacon is a man ordained—like bishop or

quiere decir precisamente “cuarenta”.

unidos a Dios.
