Linking School to Home –Second Quarter FY 2014/15
Dear John I. Leonard Students and Families,
It is difficult to believe that the first semester is
already over! The first half of this school year went remarkably fast. It also went remarkably well!!!
Our Students’ overall grade point average for the
first nine weeks of this school year was a very impressive
2.88. That is the highest we have seen since we’ve been
tracking this number! We also had a record number of students make it on the honor roll for the first marking period.
We are very, very proud of our students’ efforts and accomplishments.
If you’ve visited campus recently you have probably noticed that our campus is looking better and better.
Staff and students have put a lot of work into improving the
appearance of our campus and we believe that the climate
that we are creating within our school is contributing to
John I. Leonard’s success.
Additionally, I am very happy to report that our
school grade increased to a “B”. We were thrilled to learn
that the students’ and staffs’ very hard work resulted in a
letter grade increase!
I hope that students, parents and John I. Leonard
staff have an outstanding holiday break. Spend time with
family and friends, relax and enjoy your time off.

Campus Supervision
Students on John I. Leonard’s campus are supervised by school staff from 7:00 am until
3:20 pm. Outside of those times, unless they are with a club sponsor, tutor, or coach,
they are not being actively supervised by school staff members. Please check with
your student about their whereabouts after school.

Apreciados estudiantes de John I Leonard y sus Familias,
¡Es increíble ver como ya estamos al final del primer término del año escolar en John I Leonard! Todo ha
sido tan rápido. ¡Y todo nos fue extraordinariamente bien!
El porcentaje promedio del índice académico fue
impresionante, 2.88. Este índice es el más alto que hemos
tenido desde que comenzamos a estudiar el progreso de
nuestros estudiantes y por tanto la calidad de instrucción
ofrecida en John I Leonard High School. Además, superamos la representación estudiantil del Cuadro de Honor,
estudiantes que tienen altos promedios. Estamos sumamente orgullosos del éxito exhibido por nuestros estudiantes.
Si han visitado nuestro campus escolar últimamente, seguramente han notado lo bien cuidado que está.
El personal del colegio y los estudiantes han puesto un monumental esfuerzo para que nuestro colegio se vea hermoso. Un ambiente hermoso contribuye a la búsqueda del
éxito y por tanto, estas acciones han contribuido al éxito de
John I Leonard.
Además, me complace informarles que nuestro
colegio ha subido su calificación escolar a “B”. ¡Nos emociona grandemente que el esfuerzo de nuestros estudiantes y personal docente a resultado en un aumento calificativo en el proceso de evaluación del estado!
Yo les deseo a los padres, estudiantes y personal
del colegio John I Leonard High School unas maravillosas

 The J.I.L. Girl’s Volleyball for winning the District 10-8A Quarterfinals. A special shout-out to Vanessa Boitnott for
17 kills and 15 service points, including 6 aces.
 JILL JIVE for superiors in all three categories, Show Choir, Women’s Ensemble, and Men’s Ensemble at the District
14 Solo & Ensemble MPA. JILL JIVE members: Alyssa Riggio, Melody Caceres, Grace Mendez, Kimberly Lopez, Eva Lara,
Melissa Portes, Katianna Janvier, Carla McKendry, Lianny Lachapelle, Nicoletta Cominio, Adrian Esquivel, Jhuan Resto, Lenz
Francois, Adam Sessa, Brandon Renelus, and Jean Ramos.
 Jackie Burgess and the Medical Academy Students for a successful blood drive. Special thanks to the 310 students who donated that resulted in 275 units and $5,500 in scholarship money.
 The Lancers who participated in the food drive. J.I.L. collected 1816.55 pounds with Social Studies collecting almost half with
850.215 pounds. Special Kudos to Ms. Knight’s classes for winning with 390 pounds collected.
 Mo Calloway and Will Thelusme for making the Football All-Star Team and to Earnest Belliard and Christian Valdez for being
named alternates.
