TRANSFER APPLICATION
www.iupui.edu
Thank you for considering Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis,
Indiana’s third-largest university campus. You will find basic information on
applying here, but for more application process information and admissions
standards, go to enroll.iupui.edu/admissions/appinfo.
More important information is
available online. To read about IUPUI’s
policies on the following subjects, go to
enroll.iupui.edu/admissions/appinfo:
• A dmissions Standards
• C riminal Activity/Disclosure Policy
• E qual Opportunity/Affirmative

another IU Campus
• P rograms with Separate Deadlines
and Additional Requirements
• S ecurity/Safety Statement
• S ocial Security Number
• S tudents with Education Outside the
United States
• Transfer Credit and Advanced
Standing
• Tuition and Indiana Residency
• U se of Ethnic Information
IUPUI is committed to providing a safe
environment for students, faculty, staff,
and community visitors. You will find
more information on campus security
and safety, including prevention plans
and statistics, at enroll.iupui.edu/
admissions/appinfo.
Transfer Admission Standards
Admission to IUPUI is competitive. Applicants must have a
minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0
scale. If you were not admissible to IUPUI as a freshman, 26 hours
of transferable work must also be completed prior to transfer.
Schools and departments may set higher criteria for dual
admission and/or have separate application processes for their
programs; therefore, satisfaction of the minimum requirements
does not guarantee admission into a particular IUPUI school or
degree program. If you do not meet the requirements for your
intended program but still meet the general admission standards
of the campus, you will be admitted to IUPUI’s University College
where you will complete any prerequisites before applying to your
intended program.
Assuming you were admissible as a freshman but your
college GPA is below a 2.0 average or you have been dismissed
from another college or university for the first time, you must sit
out for one regular semester. Please note that Summer sessions
are not considered regular semesters. All Purdue University
students on “drop” status must sit out one regular semester. You
may then be considered for conditional admission.
In addition, some programs require a petition if your GPA is
below a 2.0. After you apply, we will advise you if that step is
necessary. Since you do not know if a petition will be required, we
recommend that you apply at least three months before you plan
to start classes.
Admissions Timeline
Once your application is complete, you can expect a response
within 4-6 weeks. A complete application will include an
application, application fee, and college transcripts. A high
school transcript and SAT or ACT scores (including the writing
section) may be required for students who have completed
fewer than 26 credit hours.
Checking the Status of Your Application
We recommend you check your application status online. If you
provide us with your email address when you apply, you will
receive an email with instructions on how to create your account
and check the status of your application. Be sure to update your
email spam filters to allow emails from ‘@iupui.edu’ to be
delivered to you.
Application Fee
A nonrefundable $55 application fee is required and must be paid
by check if applying with a paper application. Make the check
payable to IUPUI. Do not send cash. Applications will not be
reviewed until the application fee has been paid.
All students must pay the $55 application fee (even if you
have applied to another campus in the IU system) unless you fall
into one of the following categories:
• You applied to IUPUI and paid an application fee within the
past 18 months.
• You are a Purdue student.
• You are an Ivy Tech Community College or Vincennes
student who has either earned an Ivy Tech or Vincennes
associate’s degree or who has completed 45 hours of work
and is enrolled at Ivy Tech or Vincennes at the time of
application.
Application Priority
Dates and Deadlines
Applications and required supporting documents must be
received by the priority deadline in order to receive full
consideration for the desired term. Admissions may close
without warning after the priority deadline. Any materials
received after the priority deadline, including the application
fee will not be refunded or sent back to the student.
