CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK SCHEDULE UPDATE
Thank you to all the students, faculty and families that joined us for Mass at Holy Family Church to start off Catholic
Schools Week.
Thursday, January 29: Dress Down Day – no theme
 BOOK FAIR
 7:00pm - School Play
Friday, January 30 – NOON DISMISSAL
 No Mass – Regular uniform
 12:00pm - Staff Appreciation Luncheon
 5:30pm - LL BB Practice
*We will be making sandwiches for the Barn on Monday, February 2.
*International Lunch is rescheduled for Wednesday, February 4.
*8th Grade Pin Ceremony has been rescheduled for Friday, February 6.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
***EIGHTH GRADE ”SOUPER’BOWL FUNDRAISER HAS BEEN CANCELLED.***
BOOK FAIR
 The Scholastic Book Fair is coming! Next week students will have the opportunity to visit the book fair on THURSDAY.
It will also be open after school from 2:30-3:30 on Thursday. Finally it will be open for a cookies and juice reception
before the play on Thursday night.
SUMMER CAMPS
 MTRS has an all new summer camp schedule with brand new camps. Full and half days are available. Please see the
flyer on the website for more information.
MILLION PAGES CHALLENGE
 Is your child participating in the Million Pages Challenge? If so, reading logs should be submitted to the librarian or
homeroom teacher when completed. More information and additional reading logs can be found with the important
forms on the school website.
SIX FLAGS READ TO SUCCEED
 Any student in kindergarten through 6th grade may participate in the Six Flags Read to Succeed program. Students
must complete six hours of recreational reading to earn one FREE ticket to Six Flags Great Adventure (tickets may not
be given to someone else. Please see the parent letter and student log for more information. Contact Mrs. Rose with

ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
STREET DEVILS HOCKEY
 Students in grades 1-8 who are interested in playing hockey this spring, please fill out and return the forms. Signups
are 20.00 dollars which includes a team shirt. There will be also be a $25.00 dollar late fee for any signup after
January 23rd. NO EXECPTIONS.
TRACK AND BASEBALL SIGNUPS
 Please see the website for the registration forms for Spring Track and Baseball. The deadline for registration is
February 20th. Please remember to update your sports physical if necessary.

HEALTH OFFICE
Attention Athletes. Please update all diocesan sports physicals for spring sports found on website.

Attention pre k 4 parents; all students are required to have received 5 doses of DTaP/DTP, 4 doses of Polio, 2 doses of
MMR, 1 dose of Varicella, 2 doses of HIB, and 3 doses Hepatitis B by first day of kindergarten, September 2015. Any
students without these vaccines will not be permitted to start kindergarten

Attention 5th grade parents; all students, age 11, entering grade 6 in September 2015 MUST have received a
Tdap/Adacel booster and Menactra vaccine regardless of your annual physical date. These vaccines are due by the
first day of school. Please contact your pediatrician to discuss an appointment.

We are now in the thick of cold and flu season. Please practice healthy eating habits as well as exercise and hygiene.
Plenty of rest, healthy eating, especial a good breakfast to start the day and adequate exercise promote a healthy
body. Please remember to wash hands frequently, cover your cough and sneeze, and remain home if active coughing
and cold symptoms persist. Consult your physician if a fever of 100 degrees develops accompanied by symptoms. Be
mindful of classmates and the spread of germs.


Please continue healthy snacks during school hours and absolutely NO nut products are allowed in class.
If any students are taking new medications, please call the health office for proper protocol to administer medication
during the school day.

PTA News
General PTA Meeting
 We have a General PTA Meeting on Monday, February 9 at 7pm. Parents who attend all four PTA meetings this year
will be entered in for a raffle. The lucky winner will receive $1,000 off of next year’s tuition. This meeting will not
have a speaker, but instead will be a Q&A meeting. Please submit your questions to [email protected] prior to the
meeting so that we can review with Mr. Sorci prior to the meeting to keep the meeting moving along quickly.
Questions will be kept anonymous.
Pocket Book Bingo
 Pocket Book Bingo is Friday, February 20. Doors open at 6:30pm; Bingo starts at 7:30pm. $15 per ticket, which
includes 1 free game, 10 cards and dabber. Dessert & coffee available. Please see the flyer on the website. It is an
evening of fun and an evening to spend more time with the MTRS family and community.
Spring Fling
 Save the date for this annual event; Friday, April 17. Please let us know if you can help out.
Box Tops
 Keep clipping your Box Tops. The school earns money for each Box Top collected. Please send in your Box Tops.
There is a container in each classroom. The class that collects the most Box Tops this year will receive a pizza party in
June.
Entenmann’s
 Please send in your empty Little Bites Pouches. We will be placing collection containers in each classroom. The
school earns money for each pouch collected. Thank you for your support!
