Laser Lacy and I need a little help
from my friends. I was born with a
defect to one of my legs. My little
leg is twisted and has a
granuloma (that’s an area of
inflamed skin that is hard to heal).
My family loved me very much but
couldn’t afford the treatment I
need, so I came here to Helping
PAWS. I need laser treatments to
make the granuloma go away so
the people here can decide if my
twisted leg will ever be any good
to me. If it can be fixed, I will keep
it. If not, off it goes! Don’t worry,
I’m not a bit afraid. I’m Laser Lacy
and I can do more with three legs
than most cats can do with four!

The City of Ironwood recently completed for phase I and phase II of the Jessieville/Norrie area water and sewer projects that were funded
by the USDA Rural Development. The City of Ironwood completed the first part of a phase 3 water and sewer project that began in 2014
and will conclude in 2015. This project covered the west area of US Highway 2, areas north of US-2 between Lake Street and Luxmore
Street. The project will continue in the east half of US Highway 2 and parts of the Norrie Location area. These projects will improve the
sanitary sewer system as well as eliminating problems with infiltration and inflow. Water system improvements will include replacing defective water mains and provide better water flow and a more dependable water system in the project areas.
Since 1997, the City of Ironwood has invested in over fourteen million dollars ($14 million) in our pump station, well fields and distribution
system. These improvements were completed with very modest water rate increases, which are still around the water rate average in the
Upper Peninsula region. In our continuing efforts to maintain a safe and dependable water supply future water system improvements are
necessary. The costs of these improvements may be reflected in the water rate structure.
Precautions
Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water than the general population. Immune-compromised persons such
as cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, patients who have received organ transplants, patients with HIV/AIDS or other immune
system disorders, some elderly, and infants may be particularly at risk with infections. These individuals should seek advice about drinking
water from their health care providers. EPA/CDC guidelines on appropriate means to lessen the risk of infection by cryptosporidium and
other microbiological contaminants are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).
