Position Description
The Genesis Land Planning Division manages various land holdings, works closely with other
Divisions to get the appropriate approvals for our lands and designs sustainable communities.
We will offer opportunities for individual initiative and project management as well as working as
an integral part of project teams.
Reporting directly to the Planning Manager, the Development Planner will fully support and
assist the Planning Manager in administrative and project related tasks. The ideal candidate will
have a creative approach to problem solving, strong project management, design, and excellent
interpersonal skills. The ability to multi-task is vital. You will be managing a development project
from formulating the project team through concept design to approvals and implementation.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of strategies, development concepts and applications;
Assist the Planning Manager in managing the consulting teams to time and budgetary
targets;
Undertake research and analysis of market trends, consumer demand, concept plans
and other development proposals;
Prepare meeting and presentation materials, facilitate and expedite approvals;
Coordinate and compile input from planning project activities (including charettes,
workshops, and open houses, etc) with internal and external stakeholders;
Maintain and build excellent relationships within Genesis and externally with consultants,
contractors, regulatory bodies and stakeholders;
Understand and perform document control functions, maintain accurate and up-to-date
logs, track responses and advise the Planning Manager of the status;
Perform additional assignments as requested by the Planning Manager.

A undergraduate degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, or Architecture; a postgraduate degree would be an asset;
Minimum five (5) years’ experience involving residential real estate development;
APPI/CIP regulated members preferred;
Strong Project Management experience (related to residential land development);
Working experience and knowledge of the regulatory approval process in Calgary and
regional municipalities;
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Professional
Proficiency in MS project and computerized design/drafting programs, eg, AutoCAD,
SketchUp, would be an advantage;
Experience in financial analysis (proforma preparation) would be an advantage;
A valid Class 5 driver’s license.
