Welcome to the Sights and Sounds of Winter hosted by the Liverpool Cadet, JV, and Varsity Guards. I would like to
thank you on behalf of the students, administration, and boosters for choosing to compete at our show. Enclosed please
find a copy of the show schedule, map of the inside of the school, a map of the outside of the school as well as a menu &
directions

The Liverpool Marching Band Boosters and Winter Programs are Partnering with the Rescue Mission This year on a
clothing drive during our Winter Guard Sights and Sounds Of Winter Home Show. Donations of Clothing Shoes and
Accessories (purses, belts etc). Please no Electric or Electronic items ) are an important source of income for the Rescue
Mission to support efforts to end hunger and homelessness in our community. Even Clothing that is Torn, Stained or
missing buttons zippers etc. is wanted as these can be sold to companies for rag material. Please consider bringing a
donation of items when attending our show we will have collection carts at each of the entrances.

General Information










The show begins at 3PM at Liverpool High School, 4338 Wetzel Rd Liverpool.
Guards and equipment will be allowed to start entering the school at 12:30 PM.
Our main doors will open for spectators at 1:30 PM
The gym doors will open at 2:30 PM.
General admission is $6.00, $5.00 ages 12-5 or senior, under 5 free
The National Anthems will be played at 3:00PM
Sound checks can occur 1 hour before the start of the show or during intermission.
Front side seating is reserved for the paying public only. Guard members, chaperones, and your
floor crew will be stamped upon arrival. These members will be allowed to view the show from the back
side of the gym only..
Hospitality is provided in room 903, off of the auditorium lobby. Coffee and baked goods will be provided
for bus drivers, equipment crew…
Video: Taping of the show will be the responsibility of the group that is performing. We will be providing
an area for you to video your own team
Parking and Sign in Procedure

The map of the outside of the school is as follows: The Staff will park in Lot A. The guards and props
will also be dropped off in the same circle. The equipment trucks & buses will park in Lot C after
the guards and props have been dropped off. Please advise your bus drivers that at the end of the
show, they must return to the same doors that they dropped the guards OFF.

The spectators will park in Lot B which is directly across from the spectator entrance.

Staff/Chaperones will be stamped at the guard entrance, floor crew will be stamped at the prop entrance.
We will allow a total of 15 staff, chaperones and floor crew combined per unit in for free, anyone beyond
that number will have to pay or their organization will have to pay for them.

Anyone entering at the main spectator entrance will be asked to pay. No one will be admitted at any
other location.

Each participating guard will be assigned a homeroom. In previous years we have had an issue with
rooms being left a mess with food, hair supplies, glitter, garbage… we are requesting no eating in the
rooms and that rooms be cleaned up before the guard checks out. An adult guard representative must
sign a form as the guard arrives stating the room will be returned to the condition in which it was found
and pay for repair or replacement for broken or missing items.
A GUARD REPRESENTATIVE MUST ARRIVE WITH THE MEMBERS AND SIGN THE FORM.
ROOMS WILL NOT BE ASSIGNED UNTIL THIS HAS BEEN DONE

There are NO SD cards this year to turn in. The circuit is using Competition Suite and scores and
comments will be sent to you through your phone, computer or other digital device.
Warm Ups/Floors/Equipment

We will be using the small gym, which is located off the main gym for both body and equipment warmups. Your guard will remain in ½ of the gym for your complete body & equipment warm-up times. You
will not be required to move once you enter the warm-up area until your 14/16/18 minutes are up.

All equipment/props MUST be properly padded with special attention to all sabers.

Prop Staging - Guards needing more than 3 cart lengths for props, floor… must notify us prior to the day
of the show so we can plan appropriate staging space.

The guards, floors & props will enter the main gym from the performer’s left side of the gym. THE
FLOORS MUST BE FOLDED TO OPEN FROM THE PERFORMER’S LEFT TO THE RIGHT. There will
be no place for the floors to be refolded if they are folded incorrectly.

The guards, floors, & props will exit the gym to the performer’s right. FLOORS MUST BE SNAKED
OUT! Once you have exited the gym you will continue around to the right, the floors & props will be
loaded back on equipment trucks from the gymnasium lobby area. There is an area outside of the gym
where you can fold your floor. If you do not have enough people to accomplish please let the host people
know at equipment check in and we will work to find you assistance.

Guards must go to the right when they exit the gym and then around and back to their rooms. No
guards are allowed down the main hallway by the cafeteria.
Safety and Security

Our policy, for the safety of the performers, is that no one will be allowed back to the guard rooms
without the proper stamp on their hands or staff credentials displayed. Staff please remember
these are volunteers we have working and they do not know Guard Staff, last year one of our
volunteers was yelled at when he asked a staff member to show their stamp.
Retreat:
Captains only please. Retreat will be held immediately after Senior Recognition. Please have your captain's report to the
gym lobby to line up at 6:40
Post-Contest Meeting:
Will be held in room 942, which is located in the hallway on the auditorium side of the cafeteria.
Critique rounds have been set up by distance traveling. Directors: if there is more than 1 guard from your school
competing please let me know if you want to be in separate critique rounds.

Unit Homerooms are not to be used for stretching, Please use hallways.
No consumption of food or beverage outside the cafeteria area.
Return the classroom to the condition it was provided to us.
Any rooms with damage or stolen items will be billed to the visiting unit by the
Liverpool Central School District

Directions Liverpool High School
From the North
Take Route 481 south to Cicero/Baldwinsville exit. Go straight through the
intersection onto Soule Road. Follow Soule Road until it ends at Route 57. Turn left
on Route 57. Turn left onto Wetzel Road (Avicolli's will be on the right). The High
School will be on your right.
or
Take 81 south to the Cicero exit. Turn right on Route 31 through Clay and into
Euclid. Turn left onto Morgan Road. Proceed for a couple miles, then turn right onto
Wetzel Road (about 1/2 mile past railroad tracks). The High School will be on your
left.
From the South
Take 1-81 N to exit 24A, (Rt. 370) Passenger cars take left merge labeled
Onondaga Lake Parkway (370 West). Commercial vehicles merge right on to Old
Liverpool Road take to end and follow signs for 370 West. Take RT-57 North
through village, turn right at 3rd light (Pizza Villa) on Tulip Street. Tulip Street
becomes Morgan Rd ... Follow Morgan Rd. turn left on Wetzel Rd. LHS is on your
left.
From the East or West
Take the New York State Thruway to Exit 38 (Liverpool - Route 57). Turn left onto
Route 57. Proceed a couple miles through a busy section of Route 57. Turn right
onto Wetzel Road (about 1/2 mile or so past Bayberry Plaza). The High School will
be on your right.
Parking for Liverpool's
" SIGHTS AND SOUNDS OF WINTER" show:
All vehicles enter at enter at the Main LHS entrance (lighted sign)
Spectator Parking - enter at the Main LHS entrance (lighted sign),and
turn left into the main parking lot.
Visiting Staff - enter at the Main LHS entrance (lighted sign), proceed
ahead to Staff Lot (in drop off circle)
Buses/Equipment Trucks - enter at the Main LHS entrance (lighted
sign), proceed ahead to circle Guard/Prop drop off. Equipment Truck's and
Buses will park behind the school in the Stadium Lot as directed. Buses
will return to drop off circle to pick up at the end of the show
Equipment Crew Parking - enter at the Main LHS entrance (lighted sign),
stop and get stamped at Prop Drop Off and then continue to Stadium Lot to
park
