Implementing a Writing
Model Workshop
This two day series focuses on an holistic approach to writing. It develops
teachers’ capacity to scaffold and engage students in the writing process
while accelerating and maximising their performance as writers. The
hands-on writing activities, techniques and systematic framework will
show teachers how practical and simple it is to link all text types by
explicitly teaching a number of powerful writing strategies.

AusVELS: The power of
four - defining and
demonstrating key
capabilities for assessment
This three day series focuses on using an expanded progression point
table and the proficiencies in AusVELS. The series will provide
comprehensive opportunities and assessment tasks to determine the
precise levels of students’ capabilities in Multiplicative Thinking,
Proportional Thinking, Visual and Spatial Sense and Patterning. The
capabilities will be linked to the proficiencies in AusVELS and provide the
basis for tracking, assessing, teaching and report writing. The assessment
tasks build on the successful scope and continuum workshops presented
in 2012 and 2013.
