Conference Overview
SCHEDULE
DRESS
Plan to arrive Wednesday, April 29, 2015 for the 6:00 pm Welcome Reception
followed by a casual dinner. Conference sessions begin Thursday morning and
conclude Friday, May 1, 2015 at 12:00 noon.
Resort casual attire is appropriate for all Conference sessions. Bring a sweater
since meeting room temperatures vary.
PRE-CONFERENCE OPTIONS
Located in Orlando, The Villas of Grand Cypress is an all suite hotel
offering 45 holes of award-winning Jack Nicklaus Signature-designed golf;
top-notch instruction at the Grand Cypress Academy of Golf; exquisite dining
at their seven restaurants; and varied recreational activities including a rock
climbing wall.
GOLF
Golf tee times are reserved in the morning and afternoon of Wednesday, April
29, 2015 at the Grand Cypress Golf Club. Check the box on the Conference
registration form to reserve a time. The golf fee, $135 plus 6.5% state sales
tax, includes 18 holes of golf, shared golf cart, unlimited practice balls prior
to play, locker facilities and club storage.
The SMMA Motor & Motion College will offer a course, “Overview of
Various Electric Motors and Motion Control Technologies,” on
Wednesday afternoon, April 29, 2015, from 1:00-5:00 pm. The instructor is
Dal Y. Ohm, PhD, president, Drivetech Inc. Registration is $350 for SMMA and
Motion Control Association (MCA) members and $450 for non-members. For
this fee, attendees receive instruction, course manual and refreshment break.
HOTEL INFORMATION
The SMMA group rate is $219 plus 12.5% state and local room tax for a club
suite. One, two, three and four bedroom villas are also available. Baggage
handling charges are $10 round trip plus 6.5% sales tax ($5 arrival and $5
departure). There is a $22 per bedroom per night resort fee for the use of
Resort amenities and villa housekeeping staff. Amenities include high speed
wireless internet services in all the sleeping rooms, use of the Academy of Golf
driving range and three regulation golf holes, the 9-hole Pitch ‘n Putt course,
free parking, internal Resort shuttle service, use of the health club, tennis/
racquet courts, bicycles, boats, and morning newspaper delivery. Scheduled
shuttle transportation is available to Walt Disney World, SeaWorld and
Universal Studios.
The SMMA group rate is extended three days prior and post the Conference
dates, on a space available basis, of reservations received prior to the cut-off
date, March 26, 2015.
Those who plan to attend the Permanent Magnet Division Meeting should
arrive early afternoon Wednesday, April 29, 2015 to attend this 3:00-5:30 pm
event. This meeting is open to all Conference attendees. There is no charge;
however, Conference registration is required.
CONFERENCE FEES
SMMA Conferences are open to members and prospective members. The
registration fee for SMMA and MCA member company conferees is $660;
registration for prospective members is $760. Discounts are available for
multiple attendees. Conference fees include the Wednesday reception and
dinner; Thursday continental breakfast, lunch, reception and dinner; Friday
continental breakfast and morning break; and Conference materials. Payment
is required prior to the beginning of the Conference.
Invited guests of SMMA members may attend at the member company fee.
