proud to present the BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA conducted by its dynamic American Music Director
KEITH LOCKHART featuring the gifted young pianist CHARLIE ALBRIGHT on April 15, 2015. The Arsht
Center debut of this crown jewel of British music shows off the ensemble’s celebrated versatility and brilliance,
with British musical masterpieces by Ralph Vaughan Williams and George Butterworth sharing the program
with Antonin Dvorak’s romantic Symphony No. 8 and Dmitri Shostakovich’s thrilling Piano Concerto No. 2. The
BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA concert closes the Arsht Center’s 2014-2015 KNIGHT MASTERWORKS
SEASON - CLASSICAL MUSIC SERIES.
Tickets range from $50 to $130* and may be purchased through the Adrienne Arsht Center box office now by

The BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA was founded in 1952 and has become one of Great Britain’s most
versatile ensembles, acclaimed for its regular appearances in London’s Royal Festival Hall as well as at the
Proms in Albert Hall. “Its style is gutsy,” raved the Los Angeles Times recently. Its seductive music-making
has energized everything from the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concerts and the BBC’s own “Friday Night Is
Music Night” broadcasts, to the soundtrack of films such as “Salmon Fishing in Yemen.”
KEITH LOCKHART, one of classical music's most vibrant maestros on both sides of the Atlantic, became the
seventh principal conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra in 2008. He has served as a conductor for many
orchestras across the world and is the current artistic director of the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute and
Festival. To universal acclaim, he continues to conduct with the Boston Pops. Considered to be one of Britain’s most
versatile ensembles, the BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA under the command of KEITH LOCKHART, continues
to be a magnetic force in classical music.
Hailed by The Washington Post as “among the most gifted musicians of his generation…with a sense of dangerous
self-abandon that was thrilling to hear,” CHARLIE ALBRIGHT is quickly becoming one of the world’s most soughtafter pianists. Winner of the 2010 Gilmore Young Artist Award, the young graduate of Juilliard and the New England
Conservatory of Music already has brought his abandon and flawless technique to Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project
and to the San Francisco Symphony, as well as to international ensembles including the BBC CONCERT
ORCHESTRA.
“We are thrilled to present this Arsht Center debut of a stunning transatlantic collaboration between Great
Britain’s beloved BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA and the dynamic Americans KEITH LOCKHART and
CHARLIE ALBRIGHT,” said John Richard, president and CEO of the Arsht Center. “With this final concert of
the season, we reaffirm the Arsht Center’s commitment to presenting the very finest in classical music
throughout the season in our acoustically superb Knight Concert Hall.”
