The Committee seeks to conduct an
oversight visit in KwaZulu-Natal and
Eastern Cape (Umthatha). The first
objective of the oversight visit is to
assess progress in dealing with the
social, economic and health support
available to ex-mine workers and current
mineworkers who originate from Eastern
Cape. The second objective is to visit
Osizweni,
outside
Newcastle
in
KwaZulu-Natal because of illegal coal
mining at a derelict mine.
To determine the extent to which the
expenditure on the Municipal Water
Infrastructure Grant results in the
delivery of basic water services to the
communities in the OR Tambo and
Alfred Nzo districts.
To assess the expenditure performance
and progress made by the Department of
Basic Education on the Accelerated
School Infrastructure Delivery Initiative
(ASIDI) programme in the Eastern Cape
Province.
The Committee will be conducting an
oversight visit in Gauteng.

The purpose of the visit to State-Owned
Companies (SOCs) is to familiarise with
