What to Wear?
The event has a few rules with regards to what you should wear:
1. You must wear the swim cap that is in your race kit.
2. You must wear your timing chip on your left ankle at all times.
3. You are not allowed to wear a wetsuit or other aids that improve buoyancy or propulsion.
Speed suits are allowed.
4. You must wear your race bib on the front of your apparel during the run.
5. You must wear shoes on the run
6. You are not allowed to run bare torso; i.e. you must wear a top during the run that covers your chest.
7. You are not allowed to wear headsets during your race.
Athletes that do not adhere to the above rules will be disqualified.
Click here for an overview of all rules & regulations.
You may decide to do the whole race in your swimming, running, or triathlon gear, as long as you adhere to
the rules mentioned above.
Essential gear:
 Swim suit
 Swim cap
 Goggles
 Running shoes
Optional gear:
 Race belt (for your race bib)
 Sun hat
 Sun block
 Socks
 Sunglasses
 Towel for transition
Relay Participants
Relay participants need to ensure they understand the race flow process
1. The swimmer starts the race wearing the timing chip at the left ankle.
2. Back from the first swim, the swimmer looks for his relay running partner in the “Relay Handover” area.
3. The swimmer takes the timing chip off the ankle and passes it on to the runner. The runner must be
wearing the timing chip on their left ankle before leaving the Relay Handover area.
4. At the finish line, the runner receives 2 medals: one for each member of the relay team.
Swim
Report at the start area 10 minutes before your wave start and ensure that you pass the timing mat as you
enter the start area. The swim starts from the beach for all race distances.
The Sprint Aquathlon consists of a double out and back course with one beach turn and two swim turns
around buoys. The Discovery, Youth and Kids swim course is a single out and back. See the course maps on
page 9 for more detail.
Lifeguards are deployed on the water and on the beach to look after you. If you are not able to finish the swim
and need assistance from a life guard to get you to the beach, wave with extended arm to a lifeguard and roll
onto your back. Please report to the medical team if you do not finish your swim (or run).
If you are concerned about a group start, we advise you to start at the back or left side of the pack to stay
clear from the group and close to the life guards.
Run
The run course takes place on the road and paths along the Sentosa coast line. Run on the left hand side of
the course at all times! Note that the roads are not closed from pedestrian traffic. Pere Ocean Mineral Water
and Elete Electrolyte Drink is available at the drink stations on the run course and at the finish line. Check out
the course map on Page 9 for the location of the drink stations.

Transition
Only participants wearing their race bracelet are allowed in transition.
Each participant has an allocated spot in transition to set up their gear for the run section. Please remove all
other belongings from the transition area. A bag drop is available near the finish area.
Before you go to the race start, have a good look where your transition spot is in relati on to the entrance from
the swim and the exit to the run.
Parents of 8 and 9 year old children will find an extra bracelet in the race kit that will give them access to
transition before the Kids races to help their child set up transition. Though, due to space constraints we do
not allow any parents in the transition area during their child’s race.
Transition Map:
Aquathlon Participant: Return your Timing Chip
3-in-1 Participants: Keep it till the Triathlon
Volunteers are assigned on race day to collect your chip after you pass the finish line.

Aquathlon.
If you are not starting the race or not finishing the race, please make sure you return your chi p at the
Information Booth on race day.
nd
Alternatively, please return your chip to MetaSport, 10B Institution Hill, Singapore 239665 by the 22 of

If you miss this date, the automated fee charged to your nominated credit card for not returning your
chip is $20 and $5 for not returning the strap.
Participants that registered for the 3-in-1 Race Entry must NOT return their timing chip until after the
MetaSprint Triathlon. The 3-in1 entry timing chip-strap is red, while the Aquathlon only timing chips have a
black strap. (3-in-1 Race Entry participants who accidentally return their chip after the Aquathlon will have to
come to race kit collection again for the MetaSprint Duathlon to collect their timing chip.)
Important Considerations
1.
2.
3.
4.
When setting up or clearing your transition slot, the race may be taking place concurrently. Please stay
within your transition zone and cross paths carefully
When arriving or leaving the race venue, the race may already or still be taking place. Please make sure
you stay off the race route.
Please do not litter.
Please inform your friends & family that the drink stations, transition and finish area is for participants only.
Medical Emergencies
If you see an athlete in difficulty on the course please alert the first marshal you can find. All our marshals and
event staff have a medical emergency number with them.
Medical Safety & First Aid
IMPORTANT!
Even though you may have read our medical advice before, we would like to insist you read it again.
Awareness of the health risks of exercising in a tropical climate is the best prevention for serious injuries!
Medical conditions – if you have a medical condition that may affect your safe participation in exercise,
please ensure that you have explained your exercise plans to your doctor and sought his/her clearance. You
should not be taking part in this sports event unless this medical clearance has been given to you. Fill out the
PAR-Q questionnaire below to be sure.
Medication – should you have an allergy of some sort (e.g. to bee stings), and if you have any medication
such as an auto-injector, you may want to place this in a Ziploc bag with your name & race number on it. Then
pass this to the medical team so that it is on standby for you should it be needed. If you are currently taking
medication for a medical condition, do ensure that you take this as prescribed to you by your doctor. Please
be aware that some medications such as drugs for inflammation and injury (anti -inflammatory) may lead to
dehydration. It is important for you to maintain good hydration before and throughout the event.
Illness – some illnesses may result in dehydration, salt imbalance, or disturbances to your heart function.
These include viral illnesses such as the flu, as well as food poisoning and diarrhea. If you have had such
illnesses within the last 7-10 days before this event, please assess your current fitness and if you are not
feeling well, do NOT participate in the race. If you have had a fever with muscle aches in the past week before
the event, it is recommended that you do not race. Diarrhoea can cause loss of water and salts, so please
ensure that you have replaced these before racing (using a sports drink is very helpful). If you have had a
recent illness and are going to participate in the race, please start out cautiously and lower the intensity of
your physical exertion.
Heat Injuries – exercise in Singapore’s high heat and humidity places you at risk of developing a heat injury.
In its most severe form – heat stroke – this may be potentially fatal. The best way to avoid such injuries is to
ensure good physical conditioning prior to this race, and to participate within your fitness limits. Proper
hydration is essential and seeks to ensure you are hydrated before the race, maintained during the race
(drinking during the run phase), and then replaced after the race to prepare for your next training session!! A
good beverage to use would contain water, carbohydrates (energy source) and salts, as you would find in a
sports drink. If you use a sports drink, this is best consumed alongside an equal amount (or more) of water.

Finally, if you experience any of the following, please reduce your physical effort, and if you do not
feel better, stop and seek medical attention:
 Undue shortness of breath
 Dizziness, giddiness, light-headedness
 Chest pain
 Undue tiredness, nausea
 Disorientation, confusion
PAR-Q & You

aged 15 and above). Please answer the questions honestly and consult your doctor before taking part in the
race if you answer YES to any of the 7 questions.

recommended by a doctor?
2. Do you feel pain in your chest when you do physical activity?
3.
4.
5.
In the past month, have you had chest pain when you were not doing physical activity?
Do you lose your balance because of dizziness or do you ever lose consciousness?
Do you have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by a change in your physical activity?
