Workmen’s Auto Insurance company (www.waic.com) is a
regional insurance carrier with 60 years of operation under their belt. Its
main product line consists of providing auto insurance to individuals via
their agent network of hundreds of producer’s across 12 states.
The challenge
Homeowner’s insurance did not represent a main line of business for
WAIC, additionally agents were not closing great numbers of HO
business. Due to this lack of performance, the sales and marketing team
was having a tough time justifying any investment to the HO line. After
an in-depth analysis, together we decided to take the HO business unit
and give it a new spin.
The solution
The project had limited budget and aggressive timeframe. Based on
these project constraints we proposed a simple direct sales portal via a
new website (www.mydowntowninsurance.com) with its own look and
feel, that could provide full quote and bind functionalities. Using web
services to communicate with the client’s rating engine the portal sent
the information provided by the user, which went directly to the client’s
AS400 platform and returned quotes in real time. Via this new portal,
users are now able to quote, purchase and print their HO insurance
policy.
Since then the HO line has taken its own path and is constantly generating premium dollars with minimum efforts and administration time.
The result
As of today, ancillary services have included e-marketing, graphic design,
creation of brand concept and overall site promotion. With this new
e-commerce tool WAIC has been able to:

Reduce store operations
Increase profit margin
Provide better customer experience
Create a new communication channel
