Generosity Offering in February: CIVIC (Community Initiatives for Visiting Immigrants in
Confinement). Throughout the month of February, our offering is being received in support of CIVIC.
CIVIC is a national non-profit whose mission is to end the isolation and abuse of people in U.S.
immigration detention through visitation, independent monitoring, storytelling, and advocacy. The
heart of CIVIC’s work is community-based and volunteer-run immigration detention visitation
programs. These programs also engage volunteers in the problems inherent in immigration detention,
and over time, transform them into committed and empathetic advocates. CIVIC was integral in
supporting SOLACE, our Interfaith Detention Center Project, in regaining entry at the Otay Detention
Center in 2013 through 2014. To learn more about CIVIC, you can go to: www.endisolation.org.
