Island Club has been active in Suffolk County for the past 57 years. One of our primary focuses has been awarding college scholarships to deserving high school seniors. This has been a proud tradition of ours. Attached you will find all of the necessary scholarship application information. Please distribute this information to your deserving seniors and have it returned to the email addresses listed below by February 27, 2015. We will notify the selected scholarship candidate to come in for our interview process. Our Annual Scholarship Awards will be presented at our 57th Annual Founders Day Luncheon scheduled for May 2, 2015 at the Lessing’s (formerly Brentwood Country Club) in Brentwood, New York. Applicant (male or female) must be of African American heritage Applicant must have minimum cumulative average of 85% Applicant must attend a Suffolk County school. Applicant must have submitted applications for admission to colleges/universities. 5. Applicant must submit a Mid-­‐Island Scholarship Award application, an official transcript (which includes first quarter senior grades) and two letters of recommendations: one must be from his/her guidance counselor. 6. Applicant must be available for a personal interview with the scholarship committee. 7. Applicant must submit a 250-­‐word essay about themselves and why they believe they are deserving of the scholarship. *Mid-­‐Island club also is presenting an incentive award for a promising college-­‐bound student who may not meet the minimum 85% cumulative average but excels in other areas. For example: leadership, entrepreneurship, technology and service. **Applicant must be present at our Annual Founders’ Day Luncheon on May 2, 2015 to receive the award.** GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT Please return completed application via email by February 27, 2015.
