Choosing the right connectivity solution
When it comes to buying broadband, don’t forget to plan ahead. For example, if you are thinking of moving to a Bring
Your Own Device scheme or using more online content/services, it will make a difference to your bandwidth needs.
The availability of any broadband service will always be dependent on your location so we will always provide a personalised

It’s easy to switch
It’s a myth that switching your
broadband provider is nothing but hassle.
The key to a successful migration is having an expert take care of everything for you. Switching to RM Broadband is
easy and our experienced engineers and project teams will support you every step of the way, so that the move to your
new service is as quick and simple as possible. Still unsure? See some of our FAQs below.
I can’t change provider as I am tied in to
a contract with my local authority / RBC
Check what you signed up to in your current contract. You
will probably find that you are already now outside of your
minimum contract term and therefore no longer obligated to
use the current service from your Local Authority or Regional
Broadband Consortia.
Indeed many Local Authorities are now no longer providing
Broadband services leaving schools to source their own. Also,
many contracts do not make provisions for auto-renewals
and so are not entitled to lock schools in to rolling automatic
contracts.
I’ve heard I won’t be able to access
council provided services any more such
as finance or admin systems
You can continue to access these services as you
usually would. RM will not block access to any hosted
services that are critical to the running of your school.
Likewise, the local authority has a duty of care to ensure
you can continue to receive these services and cannot stop
you accessing them - particularly where they are paid for
separately to a broadband service.

My local authority / RBC says that
they are the only supplier suitable for
providing services to Education
This is not true. In fact, RM Education actually provides
broadband services for a wide range of RBC and Local
Authorities across the country, and therefore our solution is
the closest that you can get to an equivalent service (if that is
what you are after). Plus we are the UK’s leading educational
ISP and the only provider focused just on delivering solutions
to and for schools.
I’m worried there might be Excess
Construction Charges (ECC’s)
You don’t need to be! If ECC’s are identified as part of your
site survey you can do one of 3 things:
1. Spread the ECC’s over the minimum term e.g. 3 years.
2. Stop your fibre or EFM order and look at alternative
connectivity options such as bonded solutions.
3. Cancel your order altogether at no penalty to your
school.

Our old Local Authority solution was becoming too slow,
yet we couldn’t afford to upgrade. We needed a better
solution for a cheaper price. I asked RM Education for a
quote because of their track record in education and their

Easy and efficient
broadband connection
Tony upgraded from a 30Mb to a 100Mb leased line
