Restorative Yoga
Restorative Yoga is a practice of supported asanas designed to achieve a state of deep relaxation and
rejuvenation. Through the use of props, the physical stress of yoga poses is eliminated to elicit a feeling
of being cradled and protected. Experiencing these passive asanas for several minutes at a time allows
the mind, senses and emotions to perform important work and minimize that done by the muscles.
Restorative yoga is an excellent complement to the more physically demanding hatha practice, permits a
greater degree of mental renewal and sets the stage for meditative practices. Through direct experience,
feedback and practice, this course provides the knowledge, tools and perspective to teach the primary
series of basic restorative poses with confidence and understanding.
