From The Pastor
In the month of January, we focused on
“One Word” that could become the rally word
for our congregation in 2015. I believe the word
that God is giving us for 2015 is the word
“Grow.” God is calling us to grow in 2015. One
of the ways that God is calling Joy to grow is numerically.
We grow numerically not because we want to be able to say
that we have a big church, or for numbers sake. We want to
grow because we have this driving conviction that people
need Jesus. We have a conviction that God wants us to
share this message of His love with our entire community.
We have really great news, and we can’t keep it to ourselves.
We must share it. The number one way to grow the church
numerically is by personal invitations. In a recent study on
church growth, 50,000 people over the last ten years were
asked why they came to church. The answer was astounding. Over 75% of the people surveyed responded by saying
“I began attending because someone invited me.” The way
Joy will grow numerically is by our partners being intentional
about inviting their friends, neighbors and relatives to church.
In order for partners to invite their friends, neighbors and
relatives to come to church with them on Sunday morning,
they must make a decision that their church experience is
worth an invitation to their friend. So the question I would like
to ask you today is this, “Are the benefits you receive on Sunday morning worth sharing with others?” If they are, please
extend invitations to everyone you know in 2015 who does
not currently belong to another church. If you have people in
your life who are not going to church, invite them to come to
Joy with you. If the benefits that you are receiving on Sunday
morning at Joy are not worth sharing with others, please let

me know. I care about you and want to help
you experience God’s best in terms of your
church experience. For most of us, we acknowledge that the benefit of coming to Joy on
a weekly basis have been worth it. This is one
of the reasons, January 2015 was the most
well attended month in the history of our
church. Partners are inviting people and Joy
is growing!
Let’s keep the momentum going all year
long. Thank you for your part in making Joy
the great growing congregation that it is today.
God is doing something amazing and it is a
blessing to be a part of it. It is a joy and honor
to serve and lead such a great church and I
am certain that the best is yet to come!
Wishing You God’s Very Best,
David Rispoli
