Govt to promote Biotech sector: Dr Jitendra

key States of India where the
biotechnology is likely to grow in
near
future
are
Karnataka,
Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and
Gujarat but suggested that a focused
planning is required to spread it to
other States as well because this will
not only add to the current growth
rate but will also help create new
avenues of employment particularly
skilled jobs.
The memorandum submitted by
ABLE made several recommendations to support the biotechnology
industry. These include deduction of
current tax incentives of 200% to be
increased to 300% with a validity of
three years and extension of 10 years
of tax holiday for biotech/farming
establishments by another 2 years.
Invoking the "Make in India"
agenda of the present government,
the memorandum also pleads for the
indigenously made products to be
given 15% to 25% weighted advantage over imported products in all
government tenders.
Dr Singh assured Shaw that he
will take up all the suggestions with
concerned Departments to work out
their feasibility and applicability.
Biotechnology is the science of
future and industry's participation in
future biotech ventures will also help
in expanding the range of its utility
as a means of social transformation,
he added.

On the occasion, a number
of people from different sec-
tions of society were awarded
for the outstanding contributions in their respective fields
which included Tsewang Dorje
(Lecturer Physics), Tsering
Angdus (Senior Teacher),
Liyaqat Ali Mir (Flock
Supervisor), SI Aman-ul-allah
and
Selection
Constable, Sonam Norboo for
outstanding performances in
their respective fields. Two
Govt Schools, namely Middle
School, Kanji and Primary
School, Skara Yokma were
declared as the best schools in
the district.
Later, CEC distributed
prizes to the winners of different competitions.

Choglamsar, bagged the first
position followed by Imamia
Mission School, Chuchot while
Islamia Public School, Leh and
Druk Padma Karpo School,
Shey collectively bagged 3rd
position respectively.

Spalbar yesterday extended his good
wishes for the newly constructed
building of Ladakh Buddhist Vihara
Bodhgaya, which was inaugurated by
XVII Gyalwang Karmapa Urgyen

number of spectators gathered
at Historical Polo ground to
celebrate the 66th Indian
Republic Day with great zeal
and enthusiasm.

Autonomous Hill Development
Council (LAHDC), Chief
Executive Councillor (CEC),
Rigzin Spalbar unfurled the tricolor in presence of a huge
gathering to mark the occasion. Congratulating the people of Ladakh on the occasion,
CEC urged every citizen to
take individual level responsibility for the growth of the
country and region.
Underlining the achievements of present Hill Council,
CEC made a mention about
the achievements and initiatives of all the Departments
under
Ladakh
Vision
Document 2025 and Ladakh
Prospective Plan to lead Leh
towards sustainable development. Emphasizing for the
need of sustainable development through land based
economy, CEC asked youth to
become self reliant by exploring the natural resources available in the region and taking
benefits of the Government
sponsored schemes.
CEC urged the youth to
participate in farming activities
by using scientific know-how.

LAHDC CEC, Rigzin Spalbar
unfurled the tricolor at Council
Secretariat, Leh in presence of
a large number of Councilors.
Similarly all political parties
unfurled the tri-colour in their
respective offices to mark the
occasion.
