DIGITAL ARTS CLASS MEETS THURSDAYS FROM 3:00-5:00 PM, ROOM B-4: Calling all digital artists! Have you always wanted to learn
how to create digital artwork and animations using Wacom tablets, digital tools, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Publisher, Anime Studio Pro
and more?
FREE Digital Arts Class meets every Thursday from 3:00 -5:00 pm in the PGHS Digital Design Studio, room B-4. Snacks, music,
relaxed and fun atmosphere. All are welcome. No prior art experience necessary - just a willingness to learn!
Attention Students: Friday, February 13th is the last day to drop a class in order to keep the grade off your quarter 3 report card. If
you are considering dropping a class, please see your Counselor right away! You will need to pick up the drop form and get signatures from
your teacher and parent.
Boys Golf Info: If you are interested in playing on the Boys’ Golf team this year, please plan on attending a meeting on Monday, 2/9 at
12:15pm in Room E-1 . Even if you are currently playing a Winter Sport, please come to this meeting and meet the new coach, Steve
Thomas!
Current Geography Students: If you are recommended for Advanced Placement World History, your enrollment is PROVISIONAL! You
must take and pass the entry test! See your current teacher or Mr. Grate in room O-2 for the reading packet and instructions. The test will be
given on the following Thursdays: 2/5 and 2/12. All tests will be in room O-2 from 2:50pm to 3:35 pm or by special arrangement. Bring your
reading packet and a black pen.
All 10th, 11th and 12th Grade (Priority) Boys: Strong boys needed to come join a Cheer team stunting session. All interested, go to room E1 to sign up. The deadline is Friday, 2/13.
DIGITAL DESIGN CLUB MEETS WEDNESDAYS AT LUNCH, ROOM B-4: Are you a gamer, geek, digital artist, animator, designer,
engineer, programmer, or do you just want to learn more about computers and digital design? Well... come and join your tribe!
The Digital Design Club meets every Wednesday at lunch in the PGHS Digital Design Studio, room B-4. All are welcome!
Attention all writers, poets, and artists of all kinds: The Newsbreaker wants to showcase your stuff! Please submit poems, short stories,
music clips, digital images and anything else you'd like to share to our new Artists' Corner, where every few weeks we will feature new original
work. Email work to [email protected]. Work can be submitted anonymously or with a contributing author's name. See Mrs. Selfridge
in -L3 with questions.
Summer Study Programs: There are many Summer Programs offering various courses of study, in state, out of state and abroad. For
program information and application deadlines, check on pghs.org under Counseling and click on Summer Programs 2015.
Students and Staff: Operation Yellow Ribbon is having a book drive! Bins are located in English classrooms and the Office. We’re
looking for novels and classic, hard-back children’s stories. We will be donating to the VA Clinic in Monterey and La Mesa Elementary School.

Seniors:
Attention all college-bound seniors: If you plan to apply for financial aid, remember that the deadline for filing your FAFSA is fast approaching.
You must fill out FAFSA by March 2nd, and your Cal Grant GPA verification form must be signed by your counselor and mailed by
March 2nd as well. Don't miss out on money for college!
SCHOLARSHIPS
Pick up a Local Scholarship Application in the Guidance Office. All Senior students can apply. Deadline is Friday, February 13th.
COMMUNITY SERVICE INFORMATION:
The Monterey Bay Aquarium is now accepting applications for Teen Conservation leaders.
Aquarium Requirements:








100 hours of Community service can be obtained
Be currently enrolled in high school or entering high school in the Fall and be at least 14 years old
Must attend two week training, June 8 - 18
Must commit to two consecutive 8 hour shifts June 21 - Aug 8

Job Opportunities

Parent is looking for a tutor for their 6th grade son from the Middle School. He needs help completing his homework and organizing
his time. He also needs additional help in Math. $15.00 per hour, 2-3 days a week after school to a reliable high school student.
