helped!!!!Mrs.!Higares!teaching!the!8th!graders!soccer!in!PE!!!Keep!up!the!
running!game,!Mrs.!Higares!!!Mrs.!Bellison!wants!to!stay!in!Kindergarten!
and!the!6th!graders!loved!having!their!2nd!grade!teacher,!Mrs.!Chu!again.!!
Of!course,!the!5th!graders!now!want!to!start!a!coding!class!after!Ms.!
Singson’s!lesson!in!coding!and!Ms.!Harmuth!enjoyed!painting!birdhouses!
with!the!7th!graders.!!The!4th!graders!have!grown!quite!a!bit!since!Mrs.!
Lapp!had!them!and!the!comics!they!were!creating!truly!reflected!that!
growth.!The!second!graders!made!beautiful!paper!flowers!under!Mrs.!
Kopf’s!direction,!while!Mrs.!Silva!and!the!1st!graders!had!great!fun!putting!
together!gratitude!books!for!both!Mrs.!Lapp!and!Mrs.!Prokop.!!

Today!was!Staff!Appreciation!Day!!!What!a!wonderful!way!for!the!
teachers!to!appreciate!what!their!colleagues!do!and!for!the!children!to!
appreciate!their!teachers!as!classes!were!exchanged.!!This!experience!
culminated!in!a!lavish!feast,!provided,!set!up!and!put!away,!by!so!many!of!
our!parents!!!After!supervising!on!yard!duty,!one!parent!shared!that!it!
was!fun,!but!she!would!not!want!to!do!it!every!day!!

Spring 2015 Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be at our school Jan. 30-Feb. 8, 2015. Students will have the
opportunity to shop during the day and with their families after school from February 2 – 5.
We will be open late on Thursday, 2/5 until 6pm. The Book Fair will be open during and after
the
2nd Annual Read-A-Thon sponsored by the OLG Book Club, on Saturday, 2/7. We will
have plenty of activities that encourage the love of reading. The Book Fair will also help to
raise funds for new books for our school & classroom libraries.

We are so grat eful to the individuals and families that
part icipated in last Saturday’s Work P arty. Everyone came wit h
such energy to power wash, sweep, pul l weeds, plant flowers,
paint benches and picnic tables and improve the overall
appearance of the school. It looked beautiful for Open House!
A BIG “Thank You” from the school facu lty and staff for a
fabul ous luncheon today. To all the parents that p rovided the
wonderful dishes, helped setup, decorate, and cleanup, and to
those that assisted with Yard Duty, we are so thankfu l for the
way you show your love and appreciation to all of us. We will be
enjoying t he leftovers for several more days!!

Paper applications (available in English & Spanish) can be picked up from the school or
sent home with your child. Below are the options for assistance. Please be aware of
the eligibility and deadlines for each option. The earlier applications are received,
the better chance of receiving assistance (awards given on a first-come, firstawarded basis). Your 2014 tax preparation needs to be completed in order to apply.
BASIC: Bay Area Scholarship for Inner-City Children
eligibility: student entering private school for the first time
(note: if have a current student at OLG School, but will have an incoming
sibling new to private school, then family is eligible for BASIC)

OLG School is partnering with TADS Education Consulting to bring the application,
enrollment/registration, and financial aid application process into the 21st century.
For the 2015-2016 school year, families with incoming siblings and new families will apply
to OLG School via an on-line application starting as early as Catholic Schools Week.
Current families will register for and pay registration fees through the on-line
enrollment/registration portal, and pay tuition using the tuition portal. Families with a
financial need will apply for Financial Aid on-line (paper applications will no longer be
accepted; firm deadline to apply is 3/15/15).
More information to be provided as each online module becomes available for use. !

OLG Parent Referral Program
OLG’s Parent Referral Program is still in effect. If you refer a family to our school
that results in a new student enrollment and the new student completes two
trimesters at OLG, a voucher for $450 will be awarded to you, to be applied toward
your own tuition fee or school account.
For more details about the requirements of the program or to have the referral
form sent to you, please contact the school office at 510-657-1674. This is the time
of year to talk to your friends and relatives about submitting an application online.
Your personal referrals are most welcome!
