THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMPASSION
toward Phyllis and me in the death of her mother, Helen Wentling.
She is a genuine success story of one who had little but loved much
her 98 1/2 years. In 1918, at the age of 2, her mother died, she was
abandoned by her father and never adopted by the people with
whom he left her. She never knew a loving family relationship in her
growing up years. At age 13 she trusted Christ Jesus for salvation
and committed herself to live for him. During the depression and war
years she married. With her husband, they did everything to make a
living. She even drove a 5 ton coal truck in Pennsylvania. They had
committed to do what God willed whatever it took. He answered
God’s call to ministry. While pastoring, they responded to the call of
God to establish a home for disadvantaged and troubled boys in
South Carolina, “Brookland Plantation.” They had $40 and faith that
God had called. The home still functions for Christ and boys today,
now a part of the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
As a little girl she was told “you are too dumb to worry!” We
believe she was too smart to worry because of a life long faith in the
Lord Jesus. She left here and still had little of the world’s stuff. She
left a lot of love behind and all of heaven ahead.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PASSION FOR PEOPLE
February 10 begins the next session of Ministry and Witnessing
Visitation. GET IN THE ZONE. Please sign the enclosed form and
return in the offering or at the reception desk. Very few churches are
as consistent as you are in this vital task. If you never have; do it
now. If you once did; come back. If you always have; keep it up.
People need people and you can make a difference for eternity.
Yours Because of Jesus,
