A Note From Your President
Hi Jazz lovers,
Welcome back everyone. I sincerely hope you all had
a wonderful time with family and friends and wish all members and friends of
Jazz a healthy and prosperous new year. Let’s hope this year is as good as
last, or better, and we get to listen to and enjoy more exciting Jazz.
Attached to these jazznotes you will notice a form for renewal of membership
for 2015. Please fill this out with any new contact numbers or addresses, so
we can update our records. Post it back with payment or drop into the Club
on Tuesdays before the end of February. Call Liz Bell, your membership officer, on 9306 4555, if you have any queries. Alternatively call me on 9343
9241.
Since the last Jazznotes were produced, we have lost a Lovely gentleman
member of our club. Ken Branchflower left us on the 4th December 2014.
Kathy has asked me to thank all who sent cards and wishes while Ken was in
hospital. A special thank you to his musician pals who played at his
gravesite. He had great respect for them and enjoyed good times playing
with then on Thursdays.
I’m sorry we were not able to inform some of you of the necessary changes
to our programme for last Tuesday evening. Denise Dale kindly agreed to
play in place of The Rhythm Kings who were unable to make the date.
Thank you Denise for a very enjoyable evening of music. We can now look
forward to hearing The Rhythm Kings at the end of this month. Alan Gresty
will be visiting from the UK , and has agreed to be our Guest at the club and
play his Trumpet with some friends on the 17th February.
I have been told the 69th Australian Jazz Convention at Swan Hill went well
and was enjoyed by all those who attended. The 70th AJC will be at Ballarat;
one hour’s train ride from Melbourne. God willing, I will be there.
