At the Agricultural Barn in Mayerthorpe, Alberta
Welcome to our 11th Annual Sale
We wish to thank all of our customers for their past support and hope you have been pleased with the
cattle you have purchased from our program. Our sale has a very strong showing of repeat buyers and
that is very encouraging for us!
What a fantastic year this has been for the beef industry! The Simmental breed is definitely the one to use to help your ranch build those
big, meaty calves that are in top demand right now and we hope our bulls and heifers that join your herds will bring more of that. We
have many Fullbloods, both Polled and Horned and Purebreds both Red and Black, all Polled, this year. All the bulls and heifers have
been halter broke, the bulls are semen tested and guaranteed. The off-age bulls were kept specifically for this sale. We select our bulls
and heifers from our herd of 350 registered cows and focus on sound feet, good udders, performance, longevity and temperament.
Halter breaking helps us to make sure the bulls are willing to be handled and we find it is definitely worth the work involved. All of our
calves are grown on grass with no creep feeding. Swantewitt Ranch is located on the west side of Shiningbank Lake, between Edson and
Whitecourt Alberta. Call us anytime or drop by for a coffee to view our herd and see some beautiful Alberta country.

heifer weaning weights were taken October 12, 2014. YW means yearling weight. FBFF: Full Fleckvieh is 5 generations or more
of Fleckvieh Breeding.
Delivery: Option A: Purchases can be taken home sale day and a $50.00 discount will be taken off of purchase price.
Option B: Purchases will be delivered within 200 km of Mayerthorpe at no charge, points further than 200 km will be charged at cost.

Sting is a liver red, solid bodied, polled fleckvieh bull who we decided to use on some of our purebred cows
this year because of his consistency in throwing quality cattle. This is a great opportunity for some red
factor outcross genetics. His bulls have frame, growth, testicle development and style and his daughters
carry excellently structured udders, sound legs and femininity. You’ll notice in his sons that they keep the
red factor colouring and the desired smooth poll, but reach back into the thickness, growth and muscling of
some very old fleck genetics on his dams side. Sting is a powerhouse of a bull, breeding between 30 and 60
cows yearly for us in the past 5 years in addition to going to work breeding at co-owner Tony Wolfe’s farm.
We were so happy with this cross that we bred another group of purebred cows to him again last spring.

X Rock is a homozygous polled bull we selected to keep for our own use and is a great
herd bull. He has some different genetics for our farm on the dams side, with Big Sky and
Magoo in her background. The dam has always produced beautiful calves, and X Rock
always stood out to us. His sire, Skors Prime Cut was a real powerhouse, thick, smooth,
with lots of growth and produced some great daughters that we have in our herd. We are
really pleased with this bull and will get his fourth calf crop in 2015.
Twins
A prime choice here between full brothers. Bingo and Balto round off seven
bulls that Stella 171S’s has produced for us, all consistent, solid coloured,
working ranch bulls with loads of size and growth. Half brothers on the
dam side to our old herd bull Windsor 9W. The dam goes back to our oldest
Antonius cow family. Growth and power is what this cow is all about.

Now here’s a bull that really catches your eye when you walk into the pen. He’s smooth, well made, liver
red, big testicled and out of a cow that we love. Rebecca 126R was Darian’s 4-H cow, she’s had 4 bulls go
through past sales and we’ve kept every heifer of hers with Darian regularly trying to steal them off of
me. This line is consistent for producing heavy milking, even tempered animals with loads of growth and
muscling. It doesn’t matter what we breed this cow to we always get top quality animals out of her.
Sired by Sting 184W, a combination of old fleckvieh lines with newer genetics and the polled factor, he
adds that desired dark pigmentation, big testicles and the ability to go out and breed a big group of
cows. Balok carries the polled genetics and has all the added attributes you want in a bull.

Driver is a bull with all the right qualities. Smooth moving, exceptionally sound footed, and he
walked across the scale at over 2500 lbs this fall. Out of the Native Son bull who bred until age
11 and MFI Petra who is still on the farm at 13 years of age, this line has some outstanding
longevity. We purchased Petra out of MFI’s 2009 dispersal. She’s the kind of cow you don’t come
across very often, incredible foot structure and udder tightness for her age, and each year she
has produced top end calves. We kept Driver and her 2012 bull calf for use in our own herd and
her 2013 bull calf is in this sale. Driver produces well balanced, long, smooth calves with loads
of growth. His heifers have size and muscling but still possess feminity and his bulls have that
smooth thick topline with a little extra in the rump and neck.

Aztec has a pedigree that we love! The dam is a direct daughter of MFL Eddy, a bull we used heavily on our
farm and found very few faults in. When the vet would come to semen test he always knew which bulls were
out of Eddy because they tested superbly. Longevity here, Bettina 212F produced until 16 and Eddy bred until
age 11.

We had five Lewis 378W daughters this year that were absolute peas in a pod so we decided to keep two for
ourselves, one for Justine and to put two on offering in the sale. Bling is one of those squat, feminine, fancy heifers.
Smooth topline, loads of hair, dark colouring and out of a line of cows that we don’t have an easy time parting with
the offspring of. Wyoming is a real production bull and this, as well as lot 63, is a heifer you don’t want to pass by.

calves had spunk, some of the fastest to be up and sucking. Wyoming produces consistent, top quality

Shareholder, Franzel and Titanic right in there with the Romano bull. Barbi has the best temperament in the
whole pen and was Darian’s favorite during halterbreaking time. Barcelona’s first heifer crop calved out on our

bunch. You just can’t go wrong buying one of these Barcelona daughters.
