A Word From New Members
Beautification Award Presented
The Chamber is pleased to announce that Buffalo Medical Group, P.C.,
3900 North Buffalo Road, is the recipient of its December Business
Community Beautification Award. The Selection Committee, chaired by
Joe Wales of W.G. Arthur Co., chose this property because it has enhanced
our business community and is an asset to Orchard Park.
The attractive new building is situated on the site of the former Saville’s
plaza. Building into the natural slope of the land lessened the impact of a
two-story structure from the roadside. However, as you drive on Holland
Lane towards the extensive parking area behind the building, the
structure begins to reveal its true size and character as a large
multispecialty medical complex.
Part of the Saville’s structure was incorporated into the new design in
what is now the primary care division. Original bricks were utilized and
new bricks were selected to match the color, blending the old with the new. Colonial components are in keeping with neighboring
buildings and rooflines were kept residential in nature to minimize the impact of a large commercial building.
The Chamber applauds Buffalo Medical Group for their significant investment in and commitment to our community, and wishes them
continued success in their beautiful new facility! If you would like to nominate a business that has made physical improvements to its
facility, submit their name and address to the Orchard Park Chamber of Commerce. The next award will be presented in March.
Orchard Park Pride Program
Recognizes Students
There are many things that are right and good in our
schools, our community and our business sector. The
Orchard Park Pride program gets that message out each
year by honoring and symbolizing those things right
and good. Now in its 27th year, Orchard Park Pride
recognizes about 10% of the senior class for outstanding
character, leadership and achievement. It showcases
local career opportunities for students who want to
remain in the area after college.
Representatives from the Chamber, local businesses,
Orchard Park High School and the community identify
deserving students and promote links between these
students and the local business community.
Each year, more than 50 businesses and individuals
sponsor Orchard Park Pride students, recognizing that
the program gives them a chance to become involved in
education. The sponsor will sit with the student and his
or her family at the Pride Dinner on April 30th,
presenting an opportunity for discussion about career
tips and possibilities. Sponsors are encouraged to invite
their student to their place of business for a shadowing
day to give more insight into their career field.

Legislative Update
In December, Governor Cuomo signed a bill eliminating
employers’ requirement to notify and receive written
acknowledgement from every worker about their rate
of pay, allowances, pay day, etc. before February 1 of
each year. The Department of Labor will not require
annual statements in 2015. Businesses are still required
to notify employees as required at the time of hire.
