FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Friends,
After last week’s call of the disciples, our Gospel from
Mark takes us on the road with Jesus in His ministry of
teaching and healing. The Word is a reminder to look
into the world and see these miracles still changing the
hearts of those who seek God. God still amazes us
with movements of grace. It is up to us to seize these
moments, making the owners of God known within our
families and among our neighbors.

February 2015 Theme: “Two Become One”
We are not made to be alone. Human beings need and
complete each other. Friendship and community satisfy
that longing with bonds of common interest and love.
Marriage is a uniquely intimate form of friendship that
calls a man and a woman to love each other in the
manner of God’s covenant. Marriage is a Sacrament.
Married love is fruitful and offered without reservation.
This love is in the image of Jesus’s faithfulness to the
Church.

2015 – YEAR DEDICATED TO CONSECRATED
LIFE
Pope Francis has dedicated the year 2015 to
Consecrated Life. His prayer intention for January was
that religious men and women may rediscover the joy
of following Christ and strive to serve the poor with
zeal. It is appropriate that we begin our reflections on
Consecrated Life near the feast of the Presentation
when Jesus was taken to the temple and dedicated to
God as done in His tradition. During this year we will
reflect on the call and the place of consecrated life in
the church. What does it mean to be consecrated?
People are consecrated, objects are consecrated and
buildings are consecrated – which means that they are
set apart exclusively for God. It is as simple and as
complicated as that. Each religious community holds a
special charism that is practiced for the building up of
the church. Of which there are many. During this year,
each month we will offer a reflection on consecrated
life, the vows and the charisms lived. We will also take
this opportunity to profile the Sisters of Mercy who are
living here in Mother of Divine Providence Parish. As
the entire church is united this year in its focus on
religious life, let us pray for vocations.
