Iran Condemns Pakistan Bombing
Ring Spreading Depraved Content Dismantled
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran on Saturday strongly condemned
a new terrorist attack against Shiite worshipers in Pakistan’s
Sindh province. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh
Afkham condoled with the bereaved families of victims, saying the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns terrorist attacks
targeting the innocent people of Pakistan, regardless of their
religion or ethnicity. “Such acts of terror are against the
teachings of Islam and run counter to human values,” she
added, emphasizing the need for the unity among regional
countries in the fight against extremism and terrorism.
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps
(IRGC) said Saturday it had identified and arrested members
of a ring involved in spreading obscene contents on the Internet via Facebook.
Those arrested, who received indirect and covert support
from Western governments, targeted a remarkable number of
Facebook users under the guise of cultural and social pages
over a span of two years, an IRGC statement said. The ring
had a mission to “spread corruption, change the Iranian lifestyle and target families across the country”, it added.

Leader: We Need to Become Stronger
can serve as a model for progress in
other sectors.
By: Seyyed Ali Shahbaz
“Rahbar-e Mahboob-e Khalq az safar ayad
“Div chun biroon ravad Farishteh dar ayad.”
(From exile has returned the Beloved Leader;
At the approach of the Angel the devil has fled)
The above couplet is indeed sweet music to our ears. It is part of a
poem that is being aired since last night on all Iranian radio and TV channels. It reminds us of the memorable arrival in Iran of the Father of the
Islamic Revolution, exactly 36 years ago this day from France, where
Imam Khomeini (RA) had stayed on a visit visa for some three months
towards the end of his 15-year long exile – spent in holy Najaf beside the
sanctified shrine of the Commander of the Faithful, the Epitome of Social Justice, Prophet Muhammad’s (SAWA) divinely-decreed vicegerent,
Imam Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS).
We all remember how millions of Iranians had converged on the
streets leading to Mehrabad Airport this day in 1979 to catch a glimpse
of their Beloved Leader, spreading roses on the streets, while many accompanied him straightaway to Behesht-e Zahrah Cemetery, from where
he preferred to address the nation.
The words of the Sage of the Age from the abode of the seemingly
dead to the ears of the apparently alive continue to reverberate till this
day, transcending the time zone.
His arrival had ushered in the Ten-Day Dawn that culminated in
the triumph of the grassroots Islamic movement of the Iranian people on
Bahman 22 (February 12), by throwing into the dustbin of history the
remnants of the repressive regime of the British-installed and US-backed
Pahlavi potentate, who like the devil had fled Iran over a fortnight ago on
news of the imminent return to Iran of the angelic Ayatollah.
Imam Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini, as a loyal servant of Prophet
Muhammad (SAWA) and the Infallible Ahl al-Bayt, not only ended domestic despotism but delivered Iran from foreign hegemony.
It was his firm resolve to return to Iran in spite of the threats to his
life by premier Shahpour Bakhtiar and the top brass of the anti-people
armed forces that broke the back of the Shah’s regime and helped Iran
and the Iranians to discover their Islamic and revolutionary roots – much
to the chagrin of the enemies of Iran and Islam.
He spoke with conviction and succeeded in establishing the uniquely
popular religious system of government in Iran that over the past thirtysix years has confidently weathered the plots, conspiracies, sanctions, oil
embargo, and a 8-year devastating war imposed by the US through its
agent, Saddam of Baghdad’s repressive Ba’th minority regime.
In other words, Iran and the Iranians are, and will, always remain
indebted to Imam Khomeini for the steady progress of the country which
today has achieved self-sufficiency in all spheres including medicine,
space exploration, nuclear energy, nano technology etc.
The fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the mainstay in the
region and beyond, and has exposed hypocrites and terrorists as Godless
cowards, is due to the foresight of the person who lived and breathed
Islam and left no stone unturned in fostering Shi’ite-Sunni solidarity
through the Islamic Unity Week on the Prophet’s birthday and mobilizing the Ummah worldwide for the cherished goal of liberating Palestine
and Islam’s former qibla from the yoke of the despicable Zionists by
designating the Last Friday of Blessed Ramadhan as Qods International
Day.
He predicted the end of communism, and it is no more. He foretold
the eventual collapse of capitalism, and it is on its last legs in the West.
He prophesied the weeding out of the cancerous tumour called the Zionist entity, and its death throes are evident for all.
Today as we mark the 36th Ten-Day-Dawn, we are confident that
sooner than expected the cannibalistic elements who tear out the organs
of their victims to eat raw, who kill innocent toddlers by bashing their
heads on rocks, who rape and sell woman, who trigger bomb blasts in
mosques, and who destroy the sanctified tombs of prophets and the companions of the Seal of Prophets, will be weeded out by the awakened
Muslims of the region, inspired by the system of government envisaged
by Imam Khomeini for paving the path for the advent of the Promised
Saviour of mankind, Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance for
establishment of the global government of peace, prosperity and justice).

TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Leader
of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah
Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday
said Iran should continue to make
more progress in the field of nanotechnology and biotechnology, which
The Leader made the remarks
in a visit to an exhibition displaying Iran’s latest nanotechnology
achievements.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that
maintaining the elements that have
caused progress is necessary to continue making more achievements.
The Leader stated that “accurate
planning” and “stability in management” are among the factors that
can contribute to continued progress in nanotechnology.
Ayatollah Khamenei added that
political motivations should not affect the country’s scientific and research arenas.
The Leader further pointed to the
enmity of bullying powers with the
Iranian nation due to its independent political, social and intellectual
approaches and said, “This hostility
exposes itself in different fields. So,
we should make ourselves stronger
day by day to achieve the necessary
strength.”
Washington Post:
CIA, Mossad Assassinated Imad Mughniyeh
WASHINGTON (Dispatches) -The CIA and the occupying regime of
Israel’s spy agency Mossad were behind an elaborate plot to assassinate
Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyeh in a 2008 car bomb attack in
Syria, the Washington Post reported.
Citing former intelligence officials, the newspaper reported
that U.S. and Zionist spy agencies
worked together to target Mughniyeh on February 12, 2008 as he left
a restaurant in the Syrian capital
Damascus.
He was killed instantly by a car
bomb planted in a spare tire on the
back of a parked car, which exploded shrapnel in a tight radius, the
Post said.
The bomb, built by the United
States and tested in the state of
North Carolina, was triggered remotely by Mossad agents in Tel
Aviv who were in communication
with Central Intelligence Agency
operatives on the ground in Damascus.
“The way it was set up, the U.S.
could object and call it off, but it
could not execute,” a former U.S.
intelligence official told the newspaper.
The CIA declined to comment to
the Post about the report.
According the newspaper, the authority to kill required a presidential
finding by George W Bush. Several
senior officials, including the attorney general, the director of national
intelligence and the national security advisor, would have had to sign
off on the order, it added.
They added that getting approval
from the most senior echelons of
the U.S. government to carry out
the attack against Mughniyeh was a
“rigorous and tedious” process, and
it had to be proven that he was a true
menace.
“What we had to show was he was
a continuing threat to Americans,”
the official told the Post.
“The decision was we had to have
absolute confirmation that it was
self-defense.”

New Revelation:
U.S. Used UK Territory to Torture Suspects
LONDON (Guardian) -- The UK
government is facing renewed pressure to make a full disclosure of its
involvement in the CIA’s post-9/11
kidnap and torture program after
another leading Bush-era U.S. official
said suspects were held and interrogated on the British territory of Diego
Garcia.
Lawrence Wilkerson, who was
chief of staff to Colin Powell at the
U.S. state department, said the Indian Ocean atoll was used by the
CIA as “a transit site where people
were temporarily housed, let us say,
and interrogated from time to time”.
In an interview with Vice News,
Wilkerson said three U.S. intelligence sources had informed him
that the CIA used Diego Garcia for
what he described as “nefarious activities”, with prisoners being held
for weeks at a time.
“What I heard was more along the
lines of using it as a transit location
when perhaps other places were full
or other places were deemed too
dangerous or insecure, or unavailable at the moment,” said Wilkerson, who served under Powell from
2002 to 2005.
“So you might have a case where
you simply go in and use a facility
at Diego Garcia for a month or two
weeks or whatever and you do your
nefarious activities there.”
Donald Campbell, spokesman for
the legal rights group Reprieve,
said: “We already know Diego Garcia was used for CIA renditions, yet
over a decade on the British government has yet to own up to the full
part the island played in the CIA’s
torture program.
“Ministers have consistently
claimed that no CIA detainees were
held on the island, but Col Wilkerson’s account suggests that either
they are lying or they have been lied
to. It is high time the British government came clean over the part UK
territory played in the CIA’s shameful torture program.”
Diego Garcia’s population was
removed during the late 1960s and
early 70s and forced to settle on the
Seychelles and Mauritius. Since
then the atoll has been leased by the
UK to the U.S. for use as a military
base.
Wilkerson is the latest of a number
of well-placed officials who have
said that after 9/11 the atoll was also
used in the CIA rendition program.
Barry McCaffrey, a retired fourstar American general, has twice
spoken publicly about the use of
Diego Garcia to detain suspects.
Manfred Nowak, a former United
Nations special rapporteur on torture, has said he has heard from reliable sources that the U.S. held prisoners on ships in the Indian Ocean.
Dick Marty, a Swiss senator who
led a Council of Europe investigation into the CIA’s use of European
territory and air space, said he received confirmation of the use of
the atoll. He later said he received
