Parish Mission Statement
We, the Sacred Heart Parish Community, knowing we are sustained by the Eucharist, dedicate ourselves to:
Forming a prayerful and worshiping community Educating all in Christ’s wisdom formed
in and through the Gospel + Living our faith in today’s society
We strive to: Invite, welcome and serve all through our stewardship
Unite our community through acceptance of one another + Comfort through word and deed
2
Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord,
Welcome to Sacred Heart Church!
Thanks for joining our worshiping
community as we celebrate our
Eucharistic Liturgy for the Fourth
Sunday in Ordinary Time. We are
blessed
through
your
prayerful
participation. May the Word proclaimed
and the Eucharist we share nourish our spirit and
strengthen our faith.
In today’s Gospel we hear that “the people
were astonished” at Jesus’ teaching. He taught
“as one having authority.” Jesus speaks as one
who is competent, an expert, full of knowledge and
reliable.
Recognizing Jesus as “one having
authority” should prompt us to listen well, to ponder
and reflect on the teachings of Jesus. In listening
to our Gospel each Sunday or in our private
reading of Scripture, we are to be ever conscious
that Jesus speaks with authority. May we be
attentive to the “One having authority.”
Next weekend, we will be giving out our annual
Lenten Packets! Lent begins on February 18! Ash
Wednesday is only 17 days away! The Lenten
Packet will contain information on the numerous
opportunities to nourish your spiritual life this Lent
at Sacred Heart. Be open to participating in a
Faith Sharing group, Sr. Kate’s spiritual Book Club,
Friday Stations of the Cross, or a study
presentation on the "Seven Deadly Sins, Seven
Lively Virtues.”
I ask all volunteers to please sign up for the
Appreciation Luncheon that we have planned for
Sunday, February 15 after the 12:00 Noon Mass.
This is our opportunity to thank you for sharing
your time and talent with the Parish community.
You, the volunteers, enable us to provide many
services for our parishioners. This Luncheon is
open to all volunteers! Please sign up so we know
how much food to prepare for the luncheon.
On the weekend of February 14 & 15, I invite all
married couples to come to Mass together so that
we may have a renewal of vows and a blessing, as
the world celebrates Valentines Day!
Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
Peace be with you!
God bless,
Fr. McKee
PS. *Next weekend is the Kickoff for the annual
Catholic Charities. Fr. Mike & I will be speaking
about the Catholic Charities next weekend.
...and
* Don’t forget to sign up for the “Simple Meal!”

Inspiring Thoughts
Of Pope Francis
Resisting the seduction of
temptation is possible only when
listening to the Word of Jesus.
Despite our weaknesses, Christ
always gives us “confidence”
and opens to us a horizon wider
than our limitations
WORLD DAY
FOR CONSECRATED LIFE - God our Father, we thank you for calling men and
women to serve in your Son’s Kingdom as sisters, brothers, religious priests, consecrated virgins
and hermits, as well as members of Secular Institutes. Renew their knowledge and love of you,
and send your Holy Spirit to help them respond generously and courageously to your will.
