Sign of Peace
Because the flu season is upon us, there are those
who may not wish to shake hands. Nodding is
acceptable. Also, you are reminded that receiving
the sacrament from both species is optional (in
case you choose not to receive from the chalice.)
Please Help!
St. John the Baptist needs
individuals to take Communion to
the hospital patients one weekend
a month. This happens three
times out of the year. If you can
assist, please contact the Pastoral
Office at 695-3433. Your help
would be greatly appreciated!
This Week’s Offering
With Lent beginning in a few
weeks, you may be interested in
borrowing the following CDs:
Meditations on the Stations of the
Cross by Dr. Ron Thomas and My
Beloved Son-Meditations for Lent
by Fr. Robert Barron.
Prayers for Priests
Please see the February schedule of the
‘Prayers for Priests and Deacons” in the
Gathering Areas of the churches.
The Rosary
is recited by St. John’s CWL on the 1st Saturday
of each month from 10am-3pm. The next one is
next Saturday, February 7. Everybody is
welcome. Please use the ramp door.
Hospital Visitation:
Due to hospital regulations sometimes it is very
difficult to find out if parishioners are in the
hospital. A patient’s religious denomination
may not appear on the visitation list or because
patients are in and out so quickly his/her name
may not appear on the list at all. Sr. Marie
Smith and Fr. Gary visit the hospital on a regular
basis and would like to know if there are
parishioners who would like a visit. Please
contact the Pastoral Centre.
Diocesan Notes:
Deanery Pastoral Planning Meeting
On January 11, 2015 we had a meeting at the
Pictou County Wellness Center led by Fr.
Donald MacGillivray, Director of Pastoral
Planning for the Diocese of Antigonish. At this
meeting that was open to all parishioners of the
Deanery, we discussed how best to respond to
some of the challenges that we are facing as a
Deanery such as declining population and an
aging clergy. The Pictou Deanery Pastoral
Planning Committee are interested in what you
think should be done. We are inviting
submissions on this issue until March 15, 2015
and they can be sent to:
Rev. Donald MacGillivray PO 1628, Antigonish
NS B2G 2L8 or [email protected]
or [email protected] or Fax 902-8636237
Fr. Donald MacGillivray has shared his power
point presentation for the Pastoral Planning
Meeting On January 11. It is available on the
All Saints Pastoral Unit Website at
www.aspu.ca.
World Day for Consecrated Life - February 2
The purpose of the day is “to
help the entire Church to
esteem ever more greatly the
witness of those persons who
have chosen to follow Christ
by means of the practice of
the evangelical counsels” as
well as “to be a suitable
occasion for consecrated persons to renew their
commitment and rekindle the fervour which
should inspire their offering of themselves to the
Lord” – John Paul II (1997).
