He owns six of the program's eight wins over top-25 teams... Last season he directed
the Toreros to an overall mark of 18-17 and to the quarterfinals of the CIT Postseason
Tournament... The regular-season was highlighted by the team's WCC home wins over
Saint Mary's (61-43) and #22 Gonzaga (69-66)... Two year's ago his squad finished 16-18
overall and advanced to the semifinals of the WCC Tournament where they just missed
out on advancing to the title game... The Toreros were playing their best basketball

No. 20 Gonzaga... The Toreros then upset No. 15 UCONN in the NCAA Tourney opener
with a 70-69 overtime victory, before falling to Western Kentucky in the second round...
His 11 WCC wins were the second most for league wins in a single season in program
history... Grier is USD's 11th head coach overall and just the 4th head coach since the
Torero program moved to the NCAA Division I ranks in 1979-80... His 22 wins in 2007-08
were also the most by a Torero coach in his first season at USD. In addition to knocking
off Kentucky on the road, 81-72, the Toreros earned three wins over Top-25 teams: #21
Saint Mary's, #20 Gonzaga and #15 Connecticut... Bill and his wife, Nicole, have two

Salute to Champions dinner on February 23rd at the Town & Country Resort & Convention Center...
He became USD’s all-time leading scorer on January 3rd when he buried a three-pointer from the
left corner against the Santa Clara Broncos to give him 1,791 points to move past Brandon Johnson
(1,790; 2005-10)... Dee would finish with a game-high 20 points and 1,808 career points... Now with
1,918 points and a minimum of 8 games left, he should reach the magical milestone of 2,000 career
points... A preseason All-WCC pick and All-WCC performer last season, Dee has turned in season
point totals of 426 (2011-12), 511 (2012-13), and 582 (2013-14) and 350 (2014-15)... He is USD’s
all-time leader in three-pointers made (313; 1st in active NCAA players) and 3-point attempts (781),
and last year ranked No. 1 in the nation in free throw percentage (.945, 120-127)... This season his
.922 clip (95-103) ranks 5th in the nation... He owns a career mark of .910 (363-399) from the charity
stripe, and his 13-for-13 effort from the line at Pacific (Jan. 17) matched the Torero record set by
the late Mike Whitmarsh vs. Gonzaga (2-3-83) for most makes without a miss... He owns a current
streak of 32 straight makes and last season set the school mark with 47 consecutive makes... His
current 17.3 points per game average ranks 4th in the WCC.
** Senior point guard Christopher Anderson set the USD single season record for assists with
216 last year and also became the program’s all-time leader in career dishes with 565... Through 23
games this season he has improved his school record to 705 (3rd NCAA career active; 2nd all-time
in WCC)... With 3 second half steals vs. USF on Saturday, Anderson tied the all-time Torero mark
with 240 (Brandon Johnson, 2005-2010)... In his first three seasons he has tallied the following
totals for assists/steals - 156/63 (2011-12), 188/69 (2012-13), and 216/64 (2013-14)... This season
Anderson ranks first in the WCC and 8th in the NCAA in assists per game (6.3)... Now with 1,138
career points he is No. 18 overall after passing by Sean Flannery (1,100; 1992-97)... He became USD’s
24th player to join the 1,000 point club... In fact, Chris has also reached the following milestones
for his career - 700 assists (705), 400 rebounds (406) and 200 steals (240).
** Last season junior center Jito Kok set the single season record for blocked shots with 63... Now
with 61 this season, he needs just 3 more blocks to break his own mark... For his three-year career
he now owns 179 blocks and needs just 5 more to set a new USD career mark (Scott Thompson
with 183, 1983-87)... Kok recently set a new USD single game record for blocks with 8 in the team’s
59-50 win over LMU (Jan. 8th)... With 61 blocks on the season, this marks the third straight year
that Kok has totaled 50 or more in a season... His 2.8 blocks per game average ranks 1st in the WCC
and 18th in the nation.
** Freshman guard Vasa Pusica came off the bench to average 16.0 points per game in leading
the Toreros to back-to-back home wins against Santa Clara (69-64) and San Francisco (77-69)... In
Thursday’s win over LMU he had a perfect shooting line of 4-for-4 from the field, 2-for-2 behind
the arc, and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe... He followed that up with 4-for-6 shooting against the
Dons, including 3-4 from three-point range and 5-6 from the charity stripe...For the two games
combined he led the Toreros in scoring (16.0 ppg) while providing an efficient shooting display
– 80.0% from the field (8-10), 83.3% from 3-point range (5-6) and 91.7% from the free throw line
(11-12). He chipped in with 5 rebounds (2.5).
** USD is 2-5 in "true" away games and 4-8 overall away from the Jenny Craig Pavilion this season...

"true" away games Dee is averaging 16.9 ppg and the team 60.4 ppg... Dee's average increases to
19.3 ppg for all away games with the team average at 64.8 ppg.
** Over USD’s last five games (3-2 team record), Dee (16.6 ppg; 27-27 FT) is the lone Torero averaging in double figures... Brandon Perry (9.0 ppg), Thomas Jacobs (8.6 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and Vasa
Pusica (8.4 ppg) follow... As a team USD is averaging 67.6 ppg & 31.2 rpg while surrendering 67.2

SCOUTING THE LMU LIONS: The Loyola Marymount Lions (7-16, 3-8 WCC) return to Gersten
Pavilion following four straight league road games where they went 2-2... This past weekend the Lions
followed up a 68-54 loss at Saint Mary's (Jan. 29) with a 76-71 overtime win at Pacific (Jan. 31)... The
previous weekend LMU followed up a 65-62 loss at Santa Clara (Jan. 22) with an impressive 70-69 win
over the USF Dons (Jan. 24)... In their most recent outing the Lions scored 18 points in overtime to beat
the Tigers... LMU was paced by guard Evan Payne (23 points) and center Marin Mornar (23 points, 11
rebounds)... In their win over the USF Dons it was Payne whose put-back at the buzzer was the game
winner... Payne ranks third in the WCC in scoring at 17.8 points per game... He is followed in the scoring
column by Ayodeji Egbeyemi (10.1 ppg)... For WCC games only, Payne (15.1 ppg) is followed by Mornar (12.4 ppg, 7.0 rpg)... Head Coach Mike Dunlap is in his first year at the helm of the LMU program.
MORE TOREROS TIDBITS: USD's win at UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 7th was its tenth game of the
2014-15 season... This marked the first time in USD's Division I history (1979-80 campaign was first at DI
level) that the Toreros played only two home games in its first ten contests to start the season... Another
schedule note is that USD will not play outside of the state of California until Game 28 when they travel
to Provo, Utah to face the BYU Cougars on February 19th, 2015... Head Coach Bill Grier's six wins over
top-25 programs have come against #22 Gonzaga (69-66, Feb. 22, 2014 @ JCP), vs. #23 Saint Mary's (74-66,
Feb. 16, 2011 @ JCP), vs. #25 Oklahoma (76-64, Nov. 26, 2009 in Anchorage, Alaska), vs. #15 Connecticut
(70-69 ot, Mar. 21, 2008 in Tampa, Florida in 1st round of NCAA Tournament), vs. #20 Gonzaga (69-62,
Mar. 10, 2008 at JCP in WCC Championship game), and vs. #21 Saint Mary's (63-55, Jan. 29, 2008 at JCP)...
USD's two other top-25 wins came against Gonzaga in the Sports Center in the1998-98 season (75-59)
and at #14 UCLA during the 2002-03 campaign (86-81, ot).
TOREROS TRAVEL TO ITALY: The USD basketball team combined academics and athletics in a
unique basketball trip to Italy this past summer. NCAA teams are allowed to take an international summer trip every four years and the Toreros hadn't been out of the country since 2010 when they went to
Vancouver, BC. USD left August 12th for an 11-day day trip to Europe and besides playing three games,
the Toreros combined this trip through USD's study abroad program. The team spent the bulk of the
summer taking a religion course, Early Christianity, with USD Theology & Religious Studies Professor
Florence Gillman. She traveled with the team to Italy and the players continued the learning process
via tours, by recording what they saw by way of photos, and by keeping a journal. The players all took
a final exam before returning home. The group visited Rome, Naples, Florence and Pompeii. USD also
conducted a youth skills clinic on a Navy base in Naples.
THE 2014-15 SCHEDULE: The Toreros non-conference slate will be highlighted by two Southern
California tournaments (LMU Classic and Wooden Legacy), and a tough three-game road stretch over an
8-day span in December against the likes of San Diego State, UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. The Toreros
won’t venture out of the state of California until game 28 when they play at BYU on Feb. 19th, followed
by trips to Gonzaga, Portland and the WCC Tournament in Las Vegas.
“Our schedule is difficult and challenging but one I know our team is looking forward to playing,” said USD head coach Bill Grier. “Whether it’s our opener against Boise State in the LMU Classic or
the first round of the Wooden Legacy against Xavier, we will have some demanding stretches in the
schedule. Playing three straight road games at SDSU, UCLA and UCSB within an 8 day period will be the
toughest week in the non-conference schedule that we’ve ever had.”
The Toreros will open up their 12-game non-conference slate with two road games at the LMU
Classic that will be played in Los Angeles over November 14-15. The Toreros will face Boise State on
Friday, Nov. 14th at 3:30 p.m., followed by S.E. Missouri State on Saturday, Nov. 15th at 2:30 p.m. USD’s
first of thirteen home games at the Jenny Craig Pavilion will be played on Wednesday, Nov. 19th, when
they host Florida A&M.
USD will kickoff play in the 2014 Wooden Legacy with a home game against Western Michigan on Nov. 24th. The Toreros will then continue tourney play with back-to-back games at Titan Gym
on the campus of Cal State Fullerton against Xavier (Nov. 27th, 1:30 p.m., ESPN2) and either Princeton
or UTEP (Nov. 28th, TBD). USD’s final game of the tournament will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30th (TBD)
against one of four remaining teams (Long Beach State, San Jose State, Washington, Western Michigan)
in Anaheim at the Honda Center. All three games will be televised on one of the ESPN family of networks.
December will begin with tough back-to-back road games against 2014 Sweet Sixteen programs - @ San Diego State (Dec. 4, 8 p.m., ESPNU) and @ UCLA (Dec. 7). Following a Dec. 11th trip to face
UC Santa Barbara, the Toreros will close out their nonconference schedule with home games against
New Orleans (Dec. 13) and San Diego Christian (Dec. 21).
Following Christmas the Toreros will host Portland (Dec. 27) and Gonzaga (Dec. 29) to kickoff
their West Coast Conference schedule. Other WCC home dates will include LMU (Jan. 8), Pepperdine
(Jan. 10), BYU ((Jan. 24), Santa Clara (Jan. 29), San Francisco (Jan. 31), Pacific (Feb. 12) and Saint Mary’s
(Feb. 14). San Diego’s WCC road slate will begin on New Year’s Day at San Francisco, followed by road
dates against Santa Clara (Jan. 3), Saint Mary’s (Jan. 15), Pacific (Jan. 17), LMU (Feb. 5), Pepperdine (Feb.
7), BYU (Feb. 19, ESPNU), Gonzaga (Feb. 26, ESPN2 or ESPNU) and Portland (Feb. 28).
The 2015 WCC Basketball Championships will once again be played at the Orleans Arena in
Las Vegas, Nevada from March 6-10. Two opening round games will be played on March 6th (6 & 8 pm);
four quarterfinals games will be played on March 7th (12, 2, 6, & 8 pm); two semifinal games will be
played on March 9th (6 & 8 pm); with the championship game coming on Tuesday, March 10th (6pm,

men’s basketball head coach Bill Grier and
his staff are excited to announce that Alex
Floresca has signed a national letter of
intent and scholarship agreement for the
upcoming 2015-16 school year.
Floresca is a 6’8”, 230 lb. forward from Webster Groves, Missouri. He is currently in his
senior year at Webster High School where he
plays for coach Jay Blossom. He is expected
to play power forward for the Toreros.
“Getting Alex away from all the Midwest
schools that were recruiting him, particularly the Missouri Valley schools, is a credit
to the job Mike Burns did,” said head coach
Bill Grier. “Alex is as physically tough as any high school player I’ve ever recruited. He
enjoys contact and plays the game extremely hard, particularly the way he posts up,
rebounds and defends. He give us an enforcer on the interior at both ends of the floor.
I know our fans will appreciate the way he plays the game”.
Floresca returns for his senior season at Webster with an already impressive resume.
He is a 2-time First Team All-Suburban South Conference selection and was named
as the league’s preseason conference player of the year. Last season he also earned
all-district honors after averaging 12.1 points and 7.5 rebounds while converting 72.0%
from the field. His play helped propel Webster to a sectional appearance in last year’s
state playoffs. Webster finished 24-5, won the Conference Championship and the
Class 5 District 4 Championship. In the District Championship final against Kirkwood,
Floresca totaled 20 points and 8 rebounds in the 65-56 victory.
Floresca has also competed with the Gateway AAU program out of St. Louis where he
was coached by Scott Schroepfer.
