The Dharma helmet by Spiuk is currently one of the flagships of the brand, and
of the cycling industry at large. It was a big success last season. One of the most
innovative in the market, this helmet was worn by pro teams Caja Rural and
Bretagne-Séché Environnement (the latter competing in the Tour de France for
the first time in 2014), and MTB World Champion Julie Bresset.
El casco Dharma de Spiuk es actualmente uno de los referentes de la marca y también dentro del
ámbito ciclista. Se trata de uno de los grandes éxitos de la temporada pasada. El casco utilizado
por el equipo profesional Caja Rural, el debutante en el Tour de Francia 2014 Bretagne SéchéEnvironment o la actual Campeona del Mundo de MTB Julie Bresset es uno de los más avanzados
modelos existentes en el mercado.
This record of achievement was possible thanks
to the work done by the R&D Department, whose
team spent time and resources to find the perfect
balance between safety, light weight and venting
– the three pillars of a racing helmet. The outcome
was a model which more than meets the needs of
both experienced cycle tourers and remarkable
cycling pros.
No en vano, el departamento de I+D de Spiuk invirtió múltiples
recursos y tiempo en lograr un equilibrio perfecto entre seguridad,
ligereza y ventilación, tres pilares básicos en un modelo destinado
a un uso competitivo. El resultado es un modelo que superó
ampliamente las exigencias tanto de cicloturistas experimentados
como de los profesionales más notables.
Así lo confirma la rider del equipo BH Suntour Julie Bresset,
quien tras una temporada utilizando el nuevo casco, valora del
Dharma “el excelente confort de uso de este modelo, tanto
por su ajuste como por su gran ventilación. Son detalles que
luego te permiten estar 100% concentrada en la carrera. Sin
ningún tipo de molestia, muy cómoda y con la seguridad de
saber que vas protegida”.
So says Julie Bresset from BH Suntour, who, after
a whole season wearing the new helmet, believes
the Dharma delivers ‘excellent comfort, perfect fit
and great venting. These features allow you to fully
concentrate on the race. It’s superbly comfortable
and ensures maximum safety.’
Seguridad-Confort-Ligereza. Un equilibrio difícil de lograr.
Pero una oportunidad de desarrollar e implantar los mejores
recursos e ideas. Desde el departamento de I+D tenían claro
que la creación de un casco de estas características debía
construirse perfectamente desde sus cimientos hasta el último
detalle.
Safety. Comfort. Light weight. A balance you rarely
find in a helmet, but a unique chance for deploying
the best resources and ideas. The team at the
R&D Department knew very well that designing a
helmet like this one took flawless construction from
the very beginning, right to the tiniest detail.
The cage is key if you want to get an extremely
safe and ultralight helmet like the Dharma. This is
why this model uses the SUPERCAGE technology.
Spiuk sources at the Department for New Product
Development say, ‘It’s a component that combines
a polyamide structure on the top and back, and a
robust front shell made of polypropylene + ABS,
which allows for larger vents. This increases the
amount of air that flows around your head, which
keeps your forehead and temporal area cool.’ This
type of construction delivers a model that’s both
compact and solid, as well as lightweight and
ventilated.
As to safety, the Dharma uses the CONEHEAD
technology, an EPS injection system that adds dual
density to the impact absorption foam. The even
more compact outer layer directly absorbs impact.
The inner layer, softer and next to the head, helps
attenuate the impact of the interior of the helmet
on the head.

Olympic Champion Julie Bresset has worn countless helmets throughout her
career. ‘But, without a doubt,’ she says, ‘the Dharma is the one that best
integrates the things I consider key to optimise riding performance. This racing
helmet has everything I need.’

El esqueleto del Dharma es una pieza clave para alcanzar los
niveles exigidos en cuanto a seguridad y ligereza. Por ello,
el modelo incorpora la novedosa tecnología SUPERCAGE.
Desde el departamento de Desarrollo de Nuevos Proyectos
de Spiuk explica que “se trata de una pieza que combina
una estructura de refuerzo de poliamida que recorre su
parte superior y trasera, y por otra parte una carcasa frontal
reforzada de Polipropileno + ABS, pieza extraordinariamente
sólida, que permite además ampliar el tamaño de las
aberturas, lo que supone un notable aumento de la entrada
de aire que refrigera la frente y zonas temporales de la
cabeza”. Esta estructura de construcción permite por lo tanto
lograr un modelo muy compacto y sólido, además de ligero
y ventilado.
En todo caso, se trató de trabajar aún más en la seguridad del
casco, gracias al uso de la tecnología CONEHEAD, sistema de
inyección del EPS que permite la integración de dos diferentes
densidades de la espuma protectora. La capa externa, más
densa, soporta el impacto directo. La capa interna, más
blanda y en contacto con la cabeza, ayuda a amortiguar el
golpe de ésta contra las paredes del casco.
La Campeona Olímpica Julie Bresset ha utilizado un gran número de cascos durante su carrera,
“pero sin duda el Dharma es el modelo con el que he podido ver integradas los aspectos que
en mi caso son clave para optimizar mi rendimiento. No le puedo pedir más a un casco de
competición”.
