Depart for Vietnam. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment. Arrive

DAY 2, Saturday - Ho Chi Minh City Tour
This morning, following breakfast, join your Tour Manager for a Welcome Meeting. In the
afternoon, a guided tour in Ho Chi Minh City includes the neo-Romanesque Notre Dame
Cathedral, and the French architecture of the Central Post Office, City Hall, and the
magnificent Saigon Opera House. From here, visit lively Ben Thanh Market - where an
unbelievable assortment of wares and crafts are sold under one roof. Continue to Dong
Khoi Street, a major shopping street in the center of the city

DAY 3, Sunday - Hoi An City Tour, Flight to Da Nang
Depart Ho Chi Minh on your flight to Da Nang, one of Vietnam's major ports, situated on
the coast of the South China Sea. Travel south to the picturesque ancient town of Hoi
An, where people still wear the "ao dais", Vietnam’s traditional dress. The ancient town
of Hoi An, a World Heritage Site, was the most important trading ports in Southeast Asia
in the 15th century. Its ancient past is superbly preserved in an enchanting collection of
temples, pagodas, shop houses and magnificent private homes in the town's Old
Quarter. Walking tour of this artistic jewel, with its century's old architecture includes
the gorgeous Phuoc Kien Pagoda, the 400 year old bright-red Japanese Covered Bridge
and the Ancient House. Afterwards, continue to dinner at a local restaurant

DAY 4, Monday - Full Day in Hoi An
Spend a full day at leisure discovering all of the delights of Hoi An independently. Walk
through the Old City, stopping at one of the city's many museums, or see artisans using
age-old techniques to fashion a variety of crafts. Of special interest are the colorful and
elaborate paper lanterns created by lantern artisans for which Hoi An is well known. Or,
join the optionalboat trip on the Thu Bon River visiting the Organic Village, including
lunch. The boat trip begins at a local pier in the Old Town. You'll cruise down streams
and past many fishing areas before arriving in Kim Bong village, home of traditional
woodworking and boat-building. Return to the mainland and drive to the Traque Organic
Village for lunch. Here, you’ll learn about the many vegetables and herbs organically
grown to support the people of Hoi An. After a Vietnamese culinary lesson and tasting,
return to Hoi An

DAY 5, Tuesday - Travel to Hue, Hue Imperial City Tour
This morning, travel to Da Nang, with stunning views of bowl-shaped Da Nang Bay.
Drive by Marble Mountain, a village well-known for its sophisticated hand-made marble
products. Journey over the towering mountains to Hue, home to a wealth of palaces,
temples, libraries and museums. Afternoon tour of this former Imperial capital, modeled
after the Forbidden City in Beijing. Enter the Ngo Mon Gate, principal entrance to the
Imperial Enclosure and the central passageway reserved for use by the Emperor.
Continue to the Thai Hoa Palace with its spacious hallways and ornamental roof, the
Halls of the Mandarins, the Nine Dynastic Urns, and the ruins of the Forbidden Purple
City, once home to the royal family. Tonight, spend time at leisure to explore on your

DAY 6, Wednesday - Full Day in Hue
Day at leisure to explore Hue independently. Or, participate in the not-to-bemissed optional afternoon boat excursion on the gentle Perfume River, which explores
the life along the banks of the ancient royal capital city. The river, with its shimmering
blue color is dotted with a poetic landscape of boats, gardens, pagodas, towers and
temples. The tour continues to the legendary Thien Mu Pagoda, on the north bank of the
Perfume River, built in seven successive tiers. Then, a drive to the Tomb of Emperor Tu
Duc, final resting place of Vietnam's longest reigning emperor and to Khai Dinh, the last
monument of the Nguyen dynasty. Here, a Vegetarian Lunch will be prepared by
Buddhist nuns of the Dong Thien Pagoda. Return to Hue

DAY 7, Thursday - Flight to Hanoi, Sightseeing en route to Halong Bay
Depart Hue on the flight to sparkling Hanoi, cultural center of the country. Upon arrival,
travel overland and through the lush Vietnamese countryside to picturesque Halong Bay,
considered one of Vietnam's most celebrated attractions. As you approach, you’ll see
thousands of limestone islands rising out of the sea creating a truly magical scene. Arrive

DAY 8, Friday - Cruise Halong Bay, Travel to Hanoi
Incredible views await you today! Halong Bay is considered one of the most breathtaking
places on the planet, added to the list of UNESCO Heritage sites and declared recently as
one of the "New Seven Natural Wonders of the World". There are over 3000 islands in
the emerald waters and over 1000 have their own names. Numbers of caves and grottos
of all sizes and shapes are filled with small waterfalls, stalactites and stalagmites. Sail on
a traditional wooden boat on the tranquil bay with lunch served on board. Visit to one of
the caves. Afterwards, drive to Hanoi, Vietnam's vibrant capital and check in to your
hotel. This city's history is tied to French colonialism - its architecture, cuisine and local
culture still bear evidence of the French influence

DAY 9, Saturday - Hanoi City Tour & Evening Water Puppet Show
Today, we visit the Museum of Ethnology, center for the preservation and exhibition of
cultural heritage for over 50 ethnic groups in Vietnam. In the evening, attend a
performance of the world-famous Water Puppet Show, accompanied by a traditional
Vietnamese orchestra and Cheo (a form of opera). The show depicts a series of ancient
Vietnamese folktales, acted out by puppets over a pool of water

DAY 10, Sunday - Full Day in Hanoi
Spend a full day at leisure discovering Hanoi on your own, or, take the optional tour to
the stunning Thay Pagoda and So Village, including lunch, also known as the "Pagoda of
the Master". Nestled against the hillside in Sai Go Village, it shares its compound with
the smaller Ca pagoda. Here, you'll also see Thuy Dinh Stage, a water palace on Long Tri
Pond, where the ancient form of water puppetry is performed. Continue to So Village, a
well-preserved ancient village. Walking tour around the village with its traditional layout
and small alleyways in-between the houses. Stop at one of the communal houses to
meet villagers who earn their living from making noodles. Tonight, your journey to
Vietnam ends with many lasting memories. Farewell dinner with your fellow travelers

DAY 11, Monday - Depart Vietnam to Myanmar.
Transfer to Hanoi airport for your departure flight to Yangon in Myanmar flying in
economy class with Vietnam airlines.
Upon arrival to the YANGON airport, you will be welcomed by English speaking station
guide and our journey begins with a tour through the colonial-style city center of
Yangon. We visit the golden SULE PAYA stupa – built over 2,000 years ago and the
focal point of numerous historical events in the city –CHAUK THAT GYI pagoda to
view its magnificent reclining Buddha, and KARAWEIK HALL to marvel at the uniquely
decorated “hamsa-bird-shaped” floating barge on KANDAWGYI (ROYAL) LAKE. We
visit BOGYOKE (SCOTTS) MARKET, where hundreds of gemstone, handicrafts, art,
clothes and food stores are tucked in a maze of color. We complete the day with a visit
to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SWEDAGON PAGODA, a
gleaming bell dome structure that dominates the city’s skyline. Legends state that the
sacred hairs of the Buddha are enshrined here. The Shwedagon is an iconic symbol of
the country, a sight not to be missed. Overnight in Yangon
Day 12: Yangon – Bagan (B)
After breakfast, we transfer to Yangon airport for the domestic flight to NYAUNG U/
BAGAN. Upon arrival, we visit to the NYAUNG U MARKET, the largest market in
the Bagan region, gives us a glimpse into local life. We also see how cottage
industries like brick making and are carried out with traditional methods. We
continue to the gold gilded SWEZIGON STUPA, purported to contain a holy tooth
relic of the Buddha. And then KYANSITHA UMIN. Next, we visit GUBYAUKGYI
(Wet-Kyi-Inn), this 13th-century ‘cave temple’ has an Indian-style spire like the
Mahabodhi Paya in Bagan. HTILOMINLO TEMPLE to learn how Burmese sand
paintings are created. The day’s temple tour ends with a visit to the beautifully
symmetric and majestic ANANDA TEMPLE with its four standing Buddha images
that seem to gaze at the viewer with fixed serenity wherever the viewer stands. And
then DHAMAYANGYI TEMPLE, the largest and widest temple all of the temples in
Bagan and SULAMANI TEMPLE. Proceed to BUPAYA or SHWESANDAW
PAGODA to watch the sunset over the famous Ayeyarwaddy River. Overnight in
Bagan
Day 13: Bagan – Popa (B)
After breakfast, a 1,5hrs drive takes us to Mt. Popa. Along the way we’ll stop at a
small village where the locals make a variety of treats from the juice of the palm
tree. Watch the farmers climb the tall Toddy trees and tap the fruit, returning to land
to boil the liquid into wine and sweet molasses. Kids can also help grind rice and
corn, guiding the oxen as they pull the stone grinder. We continue to MT. POPA, an
extinct volcano, which dominates the area. Mt Popa was for centuries where kings of
central Burma made pilgrimages to confer with the sacred statues about the future
of their reigns and the Burmese spiritual epicenter for those who worship the
pantheon of nat spirits and martyrs. After paying respects to the NAT SHRINE at
the foot of Mount Popa, we climb nearly 800 steps to the pagoda perched at the top
of the mountain to admire the views of the surrounding plains and farm
lands. Overnight in Popa.
Day 14: Popa – Bagan (B)
After breakfast, return to Bagan. Upon arrival Bagan we learn how Bagan’s famous
lacquerware crafts are produced in MYINGABA VILLAGE, and then MYAZEDI
TEMPLE Not far from the stupa, the MYINGABA GUBYAUKGYI TEMPLE is a sight to
behold, housing Bagan’s best preserved mural paintings of the Buddha’s Jataka
reincarnations. MANUHA TEMPLE, built by the Mon king in the 1300s to represent
his time in captivity under the Bagan king. And then we visit the DHAMAYAZEKA
ZEDI, providing panoramic views of the temple studded plains of Bagan. We
continue MINNANTHU VILLAGE in this region are of a later period than thoses in
the Central Bagan. The village is well worth a look around, bamboo and wood houses
built during the hay days have been long gone. NANDA-MAN-NYA TEMPLE, It is a
single-chambered temple has very fine frescoes and a ruined, seated Buddha image.
TAYOK PYE PAYA is a large temple, it was built by Narathihapate (1256-1287) also
known as the king who fled from the Mongolian invasion. This is the meaning of
Tayok Pye in Myanmar. For sunset, a BULLOCK OR HORSE CART RIDE around the
temples offers unparalleled photo opportunities of one of the richest archeological
treasures in Southeast Asia as the sun dips behind the temple ruins (weather
permitting). Overnight in Bagan
Day 15: Bagan – Mandalay (B)
After breakfast, we transfer to Bagan/Nyaung U airport for the domestic flight to
MANDALAY. Upon arrival, we continue to the ARTISAN QUARTERS, where some
of the oldest craftsmanship are showcased. We observe the process of pounding
gold leaf, detailing teakwood carvings and embroidering Myanmar tapestry dating back
to the last dynasty of Myanmar. We also see how bronze and marble Buddha
statues are carved, cast and moulded. Next, we proceed to major highlights of the
city: the sacred MAHAMUNI PAGODA, housing one of the most significant Buddha
images covered in several tons of gold leaf and the crown prize in wars between
competing kingdoms; the GOLDEN PALACE MONASTERY, the sole surviving Royal
Palace building in Mandalay, offering a glimpse of the original style and architecture
of the Myanmar royals; and lastly, the KUTHODAW PAGODA, a compound
housing Buddha’s teachings carved in the sacred Pali script on stone tablets and
regarded as the world’s largest book in terms of surface area. We end our day with
sunset panoramic views over city skyline on MANDALAY HILL, the highest point of
the city. Overnight in Bagan
Day 16: Mandalay – Pyin Oo Lwin (B)
After breakfast, we drive to a former colonial hill station, PYIN OO LWIN (MAY
MYO), approximately 65km/1,5hrs away from Mandalay. The tranquil beauty of
the town captured the minds of the British colonial administration, which
developed it after defeating the last king of Myanmar. Burmese know the town for the
flowers, fruits and vegetables that grow so well in its cooler climes. We first visit the
lively PYIN OO LWIN MORNING MARKET where local farmers come to trade their
produce and continue to PEIK CHIN MYAUNG CAVE and PWE KAUK WATERFALL
located near the town. Then, at the BOTANICAL GARDENS, we feast our eyes on
the varieties of flora available in the region. To close the day, we enjoy a horse-drawn
cart ride to see the beautiful colonial architecture. Overnight in Pyin Oo Lwin
Day 17: Pyin Oo Lwin - Mandalay – Amarapura – Ava ( Inwa ) – Sagaing (B)
After breakfast, we drive back to Mandalay and excursion to AMARAPURA, 15 km
from Mandalay to visit MAHAGANDAYON MONASTERY where more than a thousand
monks live and study. Time permitting you will have the opportunity to observe the
monks having their last meal of the day in total silence. Continue to 200-year-old U
BEIN teak bridge, built in 1782 during the era when Amarapura was the royal capital.
Already from the early days the city was known for its silk and cotton weaving. Visit a
traditional hand-woven silk workshop before proceeding to BAGAYA MONASTERY, a
compound with a superb collection of Buddha statues. We go across 15km to AVA
(INWA), the ancient capital of Shan and Burmese kingdoms for over four centuries.
Crossing the Myit Nge River by ferry, the small roads of Ava are explored by horsedrawn carts. We visit the BAGAYA TEAK MONASTERY, over three hundred years old
yet well preserved and still in use by local monks; the NANMYIN WATCH TOWER,
the last standing structure of the Ava dynasty palace compound also known as the
“Leaning Tower of Ava”; and the MAHA AUNGMYE BONZAN MONASTERY, a 300year old architectural wonder with graceful archways. We continue to Sagaing, located
across the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. From the SAGAING HILLS, we enjoy views
of the hillside dotted with countless pagodas and pay a special visit to a monastery to
learn about the life of Buddhist devotees. Overnight in Mandalay
Day 18: Mandalay – Heho – Inle Lake (B)
After breakfast, we transfer to Mandalay airport for the domestic flight to HEHO, a
quiet transit town with one of the few airport links in the beautiful hills of Shan State.
Visit the bustling main HEHO MARKET, the meeting point for different ethnic
minority groups of the surrounding areas to trade handmade goods and locally grown
produce (on market days only). Enroute to Inle Lake, we stop at a LOCAL FAMILY
WORK SHOP to learn how Shan umbrellas and paper are made by traditional
methods using the fibres of the mulberry tree. Next, we take a 1-hour drive to
INLE LAKE that descends through the valley with views of the Shan mountains and
rice paddy fields. After checking into the hotel, we embark on afternoon explorations
of INLE LAKE, populated with floating islands and gardens made from the naturally
tangled roots of water hyacinth plants and reeds. Delight in the picturesque sights of
fishermen who balance and row with one leg, a technique indigenous to the Inn Thar
minority group who do this only on Inle Lake. And then we visit PHAUNGDAW OO
PAGODA, the home of some of the country’s most sacred Buddha statues covered in
gold leaf by devout followers. Overnight on Inle Lake
Day 19: Inle Lake - Indein – Inle Lake (B)
After breakfast we journey out by boat, following the currents of a small river to
reach the INDEIN PAGODA COMPLEX, a site that makes us feel as if we’ve
stepped through a forgotten portal in time. To access the complex, we walk through
verdant bamboo groves that open up to a field covered with the ancient pagodas
constructed over 1,000 years ago. We boat back to the lake and visit to the
INPAWKHON WEAVING VILLAGE to learn how local silks, linens and lotus fabrics
are handmade and crafted. As an extra treat, we stop at a house for BURMESE CATS
built over the lake, where we see the preservation efforts and reintroduction of
this rare pure breed of felines to Myanmar. At NAMPAN VILLAGE, local
craftsmen show us how Burmese cigars, or “cheroots,” are traditionally packed and
rolled. We end our day with magnificent sunset canoe ride with boatmen who
gracefully navigate and row perched on one leg. Overnight on Inle Lake. Inle Lake
markets The colorful and bustling morning market is one of the highlights of Inle
Lake. Local ethnic minority groups come near and far to trade their goods, and this
presents an opportunity to observe people in traditional costumes in an authentic
market atmosphere. The market rotates five days a week, each day making its
base in a different village (though closed on national holidays). Market visits can
be included in any tour program if the market location falls within proximity of our
travel itinerary.
Day 20: Inle Lake – Heho – Yangon - Australia (B)
After breakfast, we transfer to Nyaung Shwe town by boat and 1hr drive to Heho
airport for the domestic flight to YANGON. Upon arrival Yangon airport, directly
transfer to international airport for your departure flight to Australia. Tour Concludes –
Memories Begin.
