Callingwood Lymburn Community Playschool
Message from the Chair
As we begin the second semester, I would like to thank all the parents who attended the January parent
meeting and would like to welcome some new faces to our school. At each parent meeting, I marvel at
what a fantastic group of parents we have at CLCP! Please keep in mind that any changes to roster
dates must be communicated to your class representative so that they may record it on the master
schedule.
If you are interested in registering your child in CLCP for the 2015-2016 school year, registrations are
being accepted for returning families and alumni. As well, we still have space available in our 3 and 4
year old program. If you know of anyone who has a child who has recently turned 3 or 4 and would
enjoy our program, please refer them to our Registrar. Our next open house will be April 13 in the
classroom from 6:00-7:30 pm.

Valentine’s Day Family Dance
The CLCP Family Dance and Silent Auction is fast approaching! I would like to remind parents that
tickets are now on sale and can be purchased through your child's class representative. The invitation
also extends to family and friends, so please inquire as needed. Ticket deadline is Monday,
February 2, and remember this is a cash only event! Unfortunately, we cannot accept personal cheques
and there will be no debit/cash machine on site, so please come prepared. Auction bidding and raffles
close at 7:00 pm. You must be present and bid paid in full in order to receive your auction item. We've
organized an amazing evening of dancing, food and fundraising, so please join us February 6 from 5:307:30 pm at Lymburn Elementary School, to make some fun memories and funds for our Playschool!!
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Tuesday/Thursday Tidbits
February is such a special month in
preschool…hearts, valentine’s, making bread,
and dreaming about what we want to be when
we grow up. And the kiddos get to meet our
class puppy – Buddy! Mark your calendars for
our Family Dance on February 6th! Tickets are
on sale now. The kids have such a fantastic
time dancing with their friends and family, and
the adults have the chance to bid on some
wonderful items from our silent auction. Please
plan to attend this fun-filled night and invite
your friends!
th
On February 12 , we will have our class
Valentine’s Day party. Please send your child
dressed in red or pink. I will be sending home a
class list of students’ names if your child would
like to make Valentine’s for their classmates.
On February 12th, I will have Valentine holders
for each child set out on the table. Please help
your child put one in each friend’s “mailbox.” If
the following families could please bring these
items to our party (thank-you):
Cheese/crackers
Veggies
Fruit
Cupcakes
Cookies

On February 17th, we will be having a special
presentation by “The Bread Lady.” Miss Joanna
will come to our class and teach us about grain
– where it comes from, what it looks like, how
to grind it – then we get to make our own little
loaves of bread to take home and share with
our families. On Tuesday, February 24th, we will
dream together of the future and have your
child come dressed up in a career they would
like to do when they grow up.
As we learn about love and friendship, we will
meet a new friend this month – Buddy – our
class puppy. The kids will meet Buddy the first
week of February, and then each student will
get the chance to take Buddy home for a week
to spend with their family. Just to clarify, Buddy
is a stuffed animal, so the care for him is pretty
easy. I will randomly draw the name of a
student each week, and this student will take
Buddy home, as well as a little binder to record
your child’s visit with this new friend.
Thank-you again for all you do to make our
playschool run so smoothly! I appreciate you!

Mon/Wed/Fri News
Hello and Happy February! We had fantastic
weather for our “snow day” on January 14th
and the children had so much fun playing at
the park and spraying the snow with coloured
water. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day!
Happy Family Day on Monday, February 16th!
Please remember there is no school on that
day. I hope you are able to enjoy time with
your family.
On Wednesday, February 4th I will be
providing the children with 5 cut out hearts
(“Heartfelt Helpers”) to take home. When
your child helps out around the house (ex/
making their bed, feeding a pet, setting the
table, helping out with younger siblings, etc.),
you can print their accomplishment on the
heart along with their name. They can then
bring the heart back to school and put it on
our “Heartfelt Helpers” tree. Parents, make
sure you come and have a peek at the display
to see all of the children’s wonderful
accomplishments.
Looking ahead:
For the month of February, our themes will
be “Valentine’s Day” and “Community
Helpers”.
Have a great month!
Teacher Annette 
March 13 – Musical Munchkins
March 18 – Zoo 2 U (in class presentation)
March 30 – April 6 – Spring Break
On Monday, February 9th both classes are
going on a field trip to Telus World of Science
for the “Bubble Fun” program and an hour of
fun in Discovery Land. I will be asking parents
to drop off and pick up at TWOS. Please watch
for a volunteer sign-up sheet and permission
forms.
Our Valentine’s Party will be on Friday,
February 13th during regular class times. I
will be sending home a class list very soon so
the children can start making their valentines
at home (if you wish to participate). Don’t
forget to wear red or pink that day.
“Star of the Week” continues this month.
Thanks to the children for being so patient
and waiting their turn. Please check the
calendar for your child’s week.
