A Note from your PTA
Welcome to the 2015 CLE Auction!
On behalf of all the students at Cottage Lake Elementary,
from the Preschoolers to the Sixth Graders, we thank you
for being part of the 2015 Auction! Your attendance this
evening shows your dedication and support for our
students and the quality of their education, programs, and
facilities. Your dollars tonight go toward library
books, science supplies, the Science Fair, science
assemblies, Art Docent supplies, PE equipment,
music instruments, community events, and much
more! All the enriching experiences our kids need for a
truly well-rounded education, that the district can no
longer afford. So thank you, and we hope you enjoy your
evening!

Dessert Dash
Who can pass up dessert?! There are an assortment of
wonderful bakery items on the dessert table in the dining
room, thanks to our wonderful dessert donors! Can you
choose just one?
Here’s how it works…
! Find the dessert bid form and dessert flag on your table.
! Pass the form around the table; each person writes their
bid number and bid amount on the form.
! Once all bids are complete, tally the total.
! A runner will come to your table to pick up the form.
! Pick one person from your table to be the dessert leader.
That person will need the dessert flag.
! During the Live Auction, table numbers will be announced,
starting with the highest bidders.
! When your table number is called, the dessert leader
dashes to the dessert table with the dessert flag, and
chooses a dessert for the table. Be on alert – the table
numbers are called quickly!
! The dessert leader places the dessert selection flag in the
dessert and leaves the item on the table. A runner will
deliver your dessert to your table later in the evening.
! The table with the lowest total bid gets the last dessert left
on the table!

Auction Rules
When checking in, you received a bidding number. This
number will be used for both the Silent and Live Auctions
throughout the evening.
Silent Auction
Write your bid number on the silent auction form corresponding
to the desired item. Your bid number on the form constitutes a
legal contract to buy. No bids may be placed after the Silent
Auction is closed. Highest bidders on each item will be notified
later in the evening. You can bid the Buy it Now price and
close the item immediately if you just can’t wait!
Live Auction
Raise your bid card with the number toward the auctioneer
until you are acknowledged. To win an item, you must be the
highest bidder. Following the final bid on each auction item, a
volunteer will present the winner with a verification form to
sign. This signature is a legal contract to buy.
The Necessary Fine Print
PTA volunteers have attempted to describe and catalog all
items as accurately as possible, using the information supplied
by donors. All items are sold “as-is”, without warranties or
guarantees. The PTA is not responsible for the correctness of
the descriptions or the condition of the items. Values listed are
stated or estimated directly by donors, and are not warranted
for tax purposes or “fair market value”. Items have not been
appraised.
Any item may be withdrawn from the auction prior to the call for
bids for that item for any reason.
All purchases are final, and cannot be exchanged or refunded
unless otherwise noted.
All expiration-eligible items must be used within one year
following the auction unless otherwise noted. Be sure to note
all expiration dates and restrictions on auction items.
Your contribution is tax-deductible. The PTA has a non-profit
tax ID number.
Check-Out
Express Check-Out is available if you present your credit
card at check-in. This allows the auction treasurer to tally your
purchases and charge your card when the evening is over,
then send you a receipt. With this option, you’re free to leave
without standing in line at check-out. If you choose not to
participate in Express Check-Out, you will need pay for your
purchases with one of the volunteers at the end of the evening
before leaving the auction. The PTA will accept check, Visa,
Master Card, or cash. Please make checks payable to
Cottage Lake PTA. All items must be paid for in full at the end
of the evening.
24
Many employers sponsor matching programs and will
match charitable donations made by their employees. You
could double your donations tonight! Please contact your
employer to see if they offer a matching program. Thank you!
Each auction attendee issued a bid number assumes the
responsibilities and risks associated with an auction and the
items obtained from the auction. Each bidder will hold the
PTA, Cottage Lake Elementary, Northshore School District, the
auctioneer, and all volunteers connected with the auction
harmless from any liability.

“Gary earned my respect when I saw how eager he was to be involved in his son's school. He earned my
business when I asked him a simple favor and ended up with first-rate service and incredible attention
to detail. I really appreciate Gary as a school parent, a community member, a realtor and a friend. I
would not hesitate for one second to recommend Gary to anyone for real estate needs."
