PREVIOUS GAMES
REGULAR SEASON GAME #49 – MEMPHIS 100, UTAH 90, February 4 at EnergySolutions Arena
Salt Lake City, Utah. – Memphis’ frontcourt trio of Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Kosta Koufos outmuscled the younger Utah triumvirate of Enes Kanter, Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert, as the Grizzlies
stretched their winning streak to eight games, tying a single-season franchise record, with victory over the Jazz… Gasol, Randolph and Koufos combined for 51 points and 23 rebounds to help Memphis
outscore Utah in the paint, 46-36… Their Jazz counterparts finished with a total of 35 points and 21 rebounds… Gasol led all scorers with 23 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter to hold off several Jazz
runs early in the final period… Randolph recorded his 29th double-double – his 18th in the last 20 games – with 18 points and 11 rebounds… Z-Bo also banked in a 60-foot heave at the end of the first quarter,
the second-longest shot made in the NBA this season… Koufos had 10 off the bench with six rebounds (five offensive), becoming the first Grizzlies reserve to record five-or-more offensive rebounds off the
bench in consecutive games since Shane Battier on March 6-7, 2011… Memphis led 58-51 at halftime after shooting .561 overall and .625 from three-point range (its highest three-point percentage in the
first half this season) in the first two quarters… Utah trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half but scored the final nine points of the half to close within seven heading into the locker room… However,
the Grizzlies built the lead back to 12 early in the third quarter and kept the Jazz to at least a five-point distance for the rest of the game… Trey Burke scored 21 points in reserve to lead the Jazz, while Kanter
posted 16 points and 10 rebounds… Favors had 11 points and five boards while Gobert tallied eight points and six rebounds… Memphis recorded 26 points to just nine turnovers and outscored Utah 24-6 in
points off turnovers… The Grizzlies previously had won eight straight games within a single season three times, last from Feb. 8-27, 2013.
REGULAR SEASON GAME #48 – MEMPHIS 102, PHOENIX 101, February 2 at Talking Stick Resort Arena
Phoenix, Ariz. – Taking a page from the NFL’s Super Bowl that took place in the same city the night before, the Memphis Grizzlies punctuated an improbable comeback with a huge defensive stop to stun
the Phoenix Suns and earn a season-high seventh consecutive victory… Jeff Green converted a three-point play off an offensive rebound that put Memphis ahead by one point with 4.5 seconds left in the
game, as Memphis scored the final eight points of the game after the Suns’ Isaiah Thomas’ three-pointer gave Phoenix a 101-94 lead with 1:49 remaining… The Grizzlies erased the seven-point deficit with
four straight points by Zach Randolph and a free throw by Marc Gasol to set up Memphis’ final possession in which Green hauled in an errant three-point attempt and stuck it back while drawing a foul on
the Suns’ Eric Bledsoe… On the final play, Gasol and Green converged on Phoenix’s Markieff Morris, and Gasol played the role of New England cornerback Malcolm Butler to stuff the game-winning attempt
and then recover the ball to seal Memphis’ 11th win in its last 12 games… Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 23 points, while Gasol added 15 points, six rebounds, eight assists and three blocks… Randolph
had 19 points and nine rebounds, as his 12-game double-double streak came to an end… Green finished with 12 points and seven boards… Memphis controlled the game until the fourth quarter when
Phoenix made 10 consecutive field goals to turn a nine-point Grizzlies lead into a seven-point advantage with 3:31 on the clock… The Suns shot 11-of-18 in the fourth quarter (.611) but went cold after the
10 straight makes, missing five of their final six shots down the stretch save only for Thomas’ trey… Thomas scored all of his 24 points in the second half, including 16 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Suns…
Bledsoe recorded 21 points, while Goran Dragic had 15… Phoenix suffered its first loss this season (8-1) when Thomas, Bledsoe and Dragic all scored 15 or more… Markieff Morris had 14 points… Phoenix
recorded Memphis opponent season highs with 62 points in the paint and 27 fast break points… Memphis won its seventh straight matchup with Phoenix and earned consecutive season series sweeps of
the Suns after having never swept the head-to-head series prior to last season.
REGULAR SEASON GAME #47 – MEMPHIS 85, OKLAHOMA CITY 74, January 31 at FedExForum
Memphis, Tenn. – With inspiration from wrestling icons Jerry “The King” Lawler and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, the Memphis Grizzlies pulled down the strap and slapped a figure-four on the Oklahoma City
Thunder in a Royal Rumble at FedExForum… On “Wrestling Night,” Zach Randolph tallied his 12th consecutive double-double with 21 points and 18 rebounds, including 10 boards on the offensive end, and
tag team partner Marc Gasol also double-doubled with 15 points and 12 rebounds to help the Grizzlies body slam the Thunder in the paint, 44-22, and pick up a sixth straight victory… Mike Conley, returning
after missing two games with a sprained left wrist, added 10 points… Memphis held its second straight opponent under 75 points and limited Oklahoma City to just 27-of-78 shooting (.346)… The Grizzlies
particularly clamped down on Western Conference All-Star reserves Kevin Durant (15 points) and Russell Westbrook (14 points), who combined for just 29 points and missed 22 of their 32 shot attempts as
a duo… Thunder center Steven Adams, who cemented a full heel turn in the eyes of Grizzlies fans in last season’s playoff series, was held to six points and two rebounds… In addition to their shooting woes,
Oklahoma City was hampered by 18 turnovers, which Memphis converted into 18 points… The Thunder were only able to force 12 Grizzlies turnovers and turn those miscues into just five points on the other
end… Memphis snatched 20 offensive boards, leading to 54 total rebounds… Memphis held a 45-40 halftime advantage when Randolph started imposing his will in the third quarter… Z-Bo had 14 points in
the period and helped the Grizzlies on an 11-2 run to open the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach for Oklahoma City… Memphis finished the month of January with a 12-4 record, the sixth straight
January the Grizzlies hit double-digit wins… Taking a page from the famous Flair quote, “To be the man, you have to beat the man!” the Grizzlies defeated the Thunder for the second time in as many meetings
after losing a seven-game series with the Thunder in the 2013 NBA Playoffs… Memphis also broke a 19-19 tie in the overall series (including postseason) since the beginning of the 2009-10 season.

Zach Randolph totaled 21 points and 18 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive glass, on Jan. 31 vs. Oklahoma City… It marked the eighth time in Randolph’s career
that he scored at least 20 points and corralled at least 10 offensive rebounds, leading all active players… Six of those eight games have come in a Grizzlies uniform – no
other player in franchise history has had even one such game.

GASOL LEGACY
On Jan. 19 vs. Dallas, his 477th game with the Grizzlies, Marc Gasol surpassed his brother Pau Gasol (476 games from 2001-08) for third in franchise history in games
played… Perhaps the best combination of brothers in NBA history, the Gasols have led Memphis to all seven of its NBA Playoffs appearances, while one of the two
brothers have been featured on every Grizzlies roster since the team moved to Memphis in 2001… Of course, Pau Gasol was drafted by Atlanta in the 2001 NBA Draft
and acquired by Memphis in a draft day trade that also sent current Grizzlies TV analyst Brevin Knight to the Grizzlies.

#FIRSTTEAM
Tony Allen is making an emphatic case this season for his next NBA All-Defensive #FirstTeam appearance… Allen ranks third in the league in steals despite playing 25.2
minutes per game and leads the league in steal percentage (4.1)… In addition, perhaps most telling, Allen is holding opposing players to significantly worse field goal
percentages when guarding them and is doing so at a rate that far exceeds wing players with All-Defensive honors from the past couple seasons.

BIOGRAPHY
One of the most successful minor league head coaches of all-time, Dave Joerger was named the 12th head coach in Memphis Grizzlies history on June 27, 2013.
Backed by five championships in seven years as a head coach on the minor league level and six years as an assistant coach on the Grizzlies’ sidelines, Joerger has helped
orchestrate the Grizzlies’ greatest successes in both the regular season and the postseason. Memphis set franchise records for regular season winning percentage and
recorded second-place finishes in the Southwest Division, club bests, in each of the past two seasons, both of which Joerger served as the lead assistant. The Grizzlies
made three consecutive playoff appearances from 2011-13, upsetting the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs in the opening round of the 2011 Playoffs, the team’s first
playoff series victory, and advancing to the 2013 Western Conference Finals two years later.
The success continued with Joerger at the helm as he guided Memphis to a 50-32 record, the third 50-win campaign in club history, and a franchise-record fourth
consecutive playoff appearance. Joerger posted the best record among the NBA’s 10 first-year head coaches last season while tying Hubie Brown (2003-04) for the
most wins in Grizzlies franchise history by a head coach in his first full campaign.
Since his initial hire prior to the 2007-08 season, Joerger has shaped the Grizzlies’ identity into an NBA-best defensive unit that led the league in points allowed (89.3)
during the 2012-13 season. Memphis paced the Western Conference in points allowed per game (94.6) for the third consecutive season in Joerger’s first season as
head coach.
Joerger earned Western Conference Coach of the Month honors for January as the Grizzlies went a league-best 12-3 during the month while leading the league in
fewest points allowed (91.3). Memphis again won 12 games in March, marking the first time in franchise history that the team had two 12-win calendar months during
the same season. Joerger was again named Western Conference Coach of the Month in April after Memphis went 6-2 during the month and finished the season on a
five-game winning streak while clinching their playoff berth.
Before earning his first NBA assistant coaching job with the Grizzlies, Joerger gained fame as head coach of the 2007 NBA Development League Champion Dakota
Wizards. Dakota’s 2007 championship marked Joerger’s fifth as a head coach after winning one International Basketball Association (IBA) title and three more in the
Continental Basketball Association (CBA). Joerger owns two CBA Coach of the Year Awards (2002, 2004) and a head coaching record of 232-117 (.665) in the minor
leagues.
After finishing his playing career at Moorhead State, Joerger got his start as Dakota’s general manager when the franchise was a member of the IBA. He received his
first opportunity on the sidelines as an assistant coach during the 1997-98 season. After three years as an assistant, Joerger succeeded Duane Ticknor (now a Grizzlies
assistant) as head coach and led the Wizards to the 2001 IBA Championship. The Wizards moved to the CBA the following season, where Joerger led them to CBA titles
in 2002 and 2004.
During the summer of 2004, Joerger became head coach of the Sioux Falls Skyforce and proceeded to win the 2005 CBA Championship, his fourth title in five years,
giving him more minor league championships than other notable minor-league-turned-NBA head coaches Phil Jackson, George Karl, Flip Saunders and Eric Musselman
combined. Joerger returned to Dakota, now in the D-League, in 2006 and guided the Wizards to a league-best 33-17 record (.660) before winning his second
championship with the organization.
An excellent teacher of the game, Joerger had 18 of his players called up to the NBA from 2003-07.
Joerger and his wife, Kara, are the parents of two daughters, Alli and Kiana. Very active in the Memphis community, Joerger participates in Grizzlies team events
supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sits on the board for National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL). His family is a member of First United Methodist
Church.
